በመላው ኢትዮጵያ “የልዩ ጥቅም መብት” የሚገባቸው ጽዮናውያን ብቻ ናቸው

👉 እንኳንስ ይህን ሁሉ መስዋዕት ከፍለው!

ከሰላሳ ዓመታት በፊት ወደ አዲስ አበባ በማምራት አረመኔውን የፋሺስት ደርግ አገዛዝ ያስወገዱት ታላላቆቹ እነ አብረሃ ወ አጽበሃ፣ አፄ ዮሐንስ እና እራስ አሉላ ቢሆኑ ኖሮ ኢትዮጵያ እነ ኤርትራን + ጂቡቲን + ሶማሊያን + ሱዳንን + ኬኒያን + ሩዋንዳን ጠቅልላ በመያዝ እግዚአብሔር የሚያውቃትና ዛሬ በመላው ዓለም የምትፈራዋንና የምትከበረዋን ታሪካዊቷን፣ ታላቋንና ኃያሏን ኢትዮጵያን ለማየት በቻልን ነበር።

ታዲያ አሁን ዋናው ጥያቄ ሕወሓቶች ይህን ለምን አላደረጉም? እራሳቸው ማድረግ ሲችሉና ማድረግ ሲኖርባቸው፤ ምንም ዓይነት የኢትዮጵያዊነት ማንነት የሌለውን ኦሮሞ ግራኝ አብዮት አህመድ አሊን ለምን “ኢትዮጵያ! ኢትዮጵያ!” እያለ ሕዝቡን እንዲያታልል ፈቀዱለት? ማንን ለማስደስት ነበር የትግራይ ሕዝብ ይህን ሁሉ መስዋዕት እንዲከፍል ያስገደዱት?

በመጭዎቹ ወራት እንደ ከሰላሳ ዓመት በፊቱ ተመሳሳይ ስህተት በድጋሚ እንዳይሠሩ ለማስጠንቀቅ ነው። ለአጭር ጊዜ ጥቅም፣ የእልኸኝነት ስሜት ማቀዝገዣና የርዕዮተ ዓለም ጥማት ማርኪያ ሲባል አዲስ አበባንም ሆነ ሌላ የኢትዮጵያን ግዛት አዞ ለሆነው የኦሮሞ ፍዬል አሳልፋችሁ ትሰጡና ወዮላችሁ! በቃ!አርቃችሁ አስቡ!

“ሕወሓቶች የአማራ፣ ኦሮሚያ እና ሶማሊያ ክልሎችን መፍጠራቸውና ሚጢጢዋን ትግራይን ለትግራይ ሕዝብ ማስቀረታቸው እንዴት የትግራይን ሕዝብ ሊጠቅም ይችላል ብለው ለማሰብ እንደቻሉ በጣም ግራ ያጋባል፤ በእጅጉንም አስገራሚ ነው፤ ትልቅ ታሪካዊ ስሕተት። አሁንስ ተመሳሳይ ስሕተት ይፈጽሙ ይሆን?”

ሕወሓት ግን ለእራሱ ርዕዮት ዓለም ባሪያ ሆኖ የትግራይን ሕዝብ ሊበሉ የሚሹትን ሦስት የኢትዮጵያ ጠላት ሰው–ሰራሽ ክልሎች/አዞዎች (አማራ፣ ኦሮሞ፣ ሶማሌ) ፈጠረ፣ የትግራይን ሕዝብ በማግለል እነዚህን አዞዎች ለሰላሳ ዓመታት ያህል ቀልቦ አሳደጋቸው። ዛሬ አዞዎቹ አፈርጥመው በትግራይ ሕዝብ ላይ የዘር ማጥፋት ወንጀል ፈጸሙ።

አማራ + ኦሮሞ + ሶማሌ የተባሉት ሕገ–ወጥ ክልሎች ባፋጣኝ መፈራረስ አለባቸው። ሚሊዮኖችን ለማዳን፤ በተለይ ጽዮናውያንን ከወደፊቱ አደጋ ለመከላከል ይህ ከሁሉም አስቀድሞ መሠራት ያለበት ሥራ ነው።

የፈለገው ሉሲፈራዊ ኃይል ትዕዛዝ እየሰጠ በፖለቲከኞቻችሁ ላይ ጫና ቢያደርግም፤ ጽላተ ሙሴን የያዙት ጽዮናውያን ግን መብታቸውን ነውና የሚከተሉትን ማድረግ ይኖርባቸዋል፤

💭 በትግራይ ሕዝብ ላይ ደም አፍሳሹ የዘር ማጥፋት ዘመቻው በጀመረበት ዕለት ይህን ቪዲዮና ጽሑፍ አቅርቤ ነበር፤

“ዓለም ተሳለቀችብን | በአንድ ዓመት ውስጥ ከሰላም ሽልማት እስከ የእርስ በእርስ ጦርነት?

አሁን እውነት ህወሃቶች ከብልጽግና ጋር በንጹሐን ኢትዮጵያውያን ሕይወት ላይ ድራማ እየሰሩ ካልሆነ በአራት ኪሎ ቤተ መንግስት የደፉትን ቆሻሻቸውን ባፋጣኝ መጥረግ ይኖርባቸዋል። ግራኝ አብዮት አህመድን አሊን እና የኦሮሙማ መንጋውን በእሳት ከጠራረጓቸው በኋላ ከሦስት ዓመታት በፊት ማድረግ የነበረባቸውን የሚከተሉትን ነገሮች አድርገው ወደ አክሱም ጽዮን በማምራት ንስሐ በመግባት ከፖለቲካ ሕይወት መሰናበት አለባቸው። ከሉሲፈራውያኑ ፀረ-ኢትዮጵያ አጀንዳ አስፈጻሚ ባርነት ነጻ ሊወጡ የሚችሉት የሚከተሉትን ለማድረግ ፈቃደኞች ሲሆኑ ብቻ ነው፦

ምናልባት ያኔ ይሆናል ምናልባት ኢትዮጵያውያን አቅፈው ይቅር የሚሏችሁ።

ገና ስልጣን ላይ ሲወጣ ለአብዮት አህመድ አሊም ተመሳሳይ ዕድል እንዲህ በማለት ሰጥቼው ነበር፦

አመት ሆነው፤ ግን ሦስቱንም ጉዳዮች እስካሁን ለማስተካከል ሙከራ አላደረገም፤ እንዲያውም ሁኔታዎችን ወደ ባሰ መንግድ እየመራቸው ነው፤ በዚህም ሉሲፈራውያኑ ምዕራባውያን፣ አረቦችና የተባበሩት መንግስታት ፈላጭ ቆራጮች ታይቶ በማይታወቅ መልክ እያጨበጨቡለት ነው። ይህም በጣም ስላደፋፈረው፡ መጀመሪያ በትግርኛ ተናጋሪዎች ላይ ሤራ መጠንሰስ ጀመረ፤ አሁን ደግሞ ወደ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ ዞረ። አቤት ድፍረት!“ገና ዓመታት በፊት

እውነት እንደሚሉን በትግራይ ጦርነት እየተካሄደ ነውን? አይመስለኝም! የሚመስለኝ “ውጊያ አለ” እያሉ በሁሉም በኩል የተቀነባበር ጭፍጨፋ በትግራይ ክርስቲያን አባቶቼ፣ እናቶቼ፣ ወንድሞቼና እኅቶቼ ላይ እየተካሄደ ነው። ይህ ደግሞ የሉሲፈራውያኑ ኤዶማውያንና እስማኤላውያን ጭፍሮች የሆኑት ኦሮሞዎች፣ አማራዎች፣ ፕሮቴስታንቶች፣ መሀመዳውያንና ኢ-አማንያን ሁሉ ምኞትና ፍላጎት መሆኑ የታወቀ ነው። በዓብያተ ክርስቲያናት፣ በገዳማትና ታሪካዊ ቦታዎች አካባቢ፤“ውጊያ እየተካሄደ ነው!” መባሉንና ጭፍጨፋዎቹም በእነዚህ ቦታዎች እየተካሄደ እንደሆነ ልብ እንበል። “እዚህ አለን!” እያሉ በመጥራት በወገኖቻችን ሕይወት ላይ የኩኩሉሉ ድብብቆስ ጨዋታ የሚጫወቱ ይመስላል። 😠😠😠

በእውነት ህወሀቶች ከሠሩት በጣም ግዙፍ ስህተት ተምረው የወገኖቼን ስቃይ እና ሰቆቃ ማቆም ቢፈልጉና ለደቡባውያን የሰጡትን በረከትና ዕድል ወደ ሰሜን የመመለስ ፍላጎት ቢኖራቸው ኖሮ ትግራይ ሆነው ሳይሆን ጥይት መተኮስ የነበረባቸው፤ ወደ አዲስ አበባ ተጉዘው ግራኝን በደፉትና የጦርነቱንም አቅጣጫ ወደ ደቡብ በቀየሩት ነበር። ላለፉት ሦስት ዓመታት ስለፍፍ የነበረው ይህን ነው፤ “ባካችሁ ጡት አጥባትችሁ ያሳደጋችሁትን ሰይጣን ድፉትና ወደ አስኩም ጽዮን መጥታችሁ ንስሐ በመግባት ኢትዮጵያን የመንፈሳዊ ማንነትና ምንነት ላላቸው ትክክለኛዎቹ ኢትዮጵያውያን አስረክባችሁ ታሪክ ሥሩ!” ስል ነበር። እውነት ለመናገር ልክ ጦርነቱ እንደተጀመረ ህወሀቶች በሦስት ቀናት አዲስ አበባ ይገባሉ የሚል እምነት ነበረኝ። እንዴት ነው በወሬ ካልሆነ፤ አንዴም በአግባቡ ሲበቀሉ የማናያቸው?

የሚገርም ነው፤ እንደ ጋዛ ገላጣማ ከሆኑና እስራኤል 24/7 ዓይኖቿን ከምትተክለበት ትንሽ ቦታ ፍልስጤማውያኑ አሸባሪዎች ለዓመታት ሮኬቶችን ወደ እስራኤል መተኮስ ችለው ያው ከእስራኤል ጋር የተኩስ አቁም ስምምነት ላይ ለመድረስ በቅተዋል። በሌላ በኩል እነ ሳውዲና ኤሚራቶች እንዲሁ 24/7 ክትትል ከሚያደርጉባት ከገላጣማዋ የመንም የአሥር ዓመት ዕድሜ እንኳን የማይሞላቸው ‘ሁቲ’ ነፃ አውጪዎች እስከ ጂዳና ሪያድ ድረስ የሚደርሱ ሮኬቶችንና ድሮኖችን በመላክ የበቀል እርምጃዎችን በመውሰድ ላይ ናቸው።

ታዲያ የኔ ጥያቄ፤ ለሃያ ሰባት ዓመታት ኢትዮጵያን ሲያስተዳድሩ የነበሩት ህወሀቶች ተመሳሳይ ተግባር ለመፈጸም እንዴት ተሳናቸው? ምንም ዓይነት የወታደራዊ ዕውቀት የሌለን እኛ ታዛቢዎች እንኳን የተባበሩት አረብ ኤሚራቶች በአሰብ ቤዛቸው ተዋጊ አውሮፕላኖችንና ድሮኖችን ለክርስቲያን ኢትዮጵያ ጭፍጭፍጨፋ እያሰፈሩ መሆናቸውን ከሁለት ዓመት በፊት ከሩቅ ሆነን ስንጠቁም ነበር። እውነት የህወሀት ጄነራሎች ይህ መረጃ ሳይኖራቸው ቀርቶ ነውን? ዛሬም ኤሚራቶች የየመንን ደሴት ለዚሁ ተግባር በማዘጋጀት ላይ ናቸው፣ ግራኝ ከቱርክ ድሮኖችን ሊሸምት ነው ወዘተ” እያልን ነው፤ ነገር ግን የትግራይም ሆኑ የኢትዮጵያ ሜዲያዎች ለዚህ ትልቅ ጉዳይ ተገቢውን ትኩረት ሲሰጡት አይታዩም።

ለመሆኑ ለምን ይሆን በትግራይ ህፃናት ላይ የኬሚካል ቦምቦችን ሲጥል የነብረውን ምርኮኛ ኦሮሞ ፓይለትን ለቅቀውት ወደ ደብረ ዘይት እንዲመለስ ያደረጉት? የትግራይ ቀሳውስትና ካህናት በሰበባሰቡ እየተገደሉ ነው፤ እያለቁ ያሉት ክርስቲያኖች ናቸው፤ ታዲያ ምናልባት ዛሬም የስጋ ማንነትና ምንነት ላላቸው ደቡባውያን እየሠሩ ስለሆኑ ይሆን፤ “ሕዝቤ” የሚሉትን ሕዝብ ሊከላከሉት ያልቻሉት/ያልፈለጉት? የስጋ ማንነትና ምንነት ያላቸው “ብሔር በሔረሰቦች” በጋራ ተናብበው በትግራይ ሕዝብ ላይ ጭፍጨፋ እያካሄዱ ግፍ እየሠሩ ታዲያ ህወሃቶች ዛሬም “የብሔር-ብሔረሰቦች እኩለነት” የሚለውን የተሰወረና የተሸፈነ ንድፈ ሀሳብ ተጠቅመው ላለፉት መቶ ሰላሳ ዓመታት በሃገረ ኢትዮጵያ የነገሰውን የስጋን ማንነትና ምንነት ማለትም የስጋን አካል እንደ መንግስት አካል (ህግ) ፣ የሞትና ባርነትን ሥርዓት ለማስቀጠል ይሻሉን?

ዛሬ በደንብ ግልጽ የሆነልን የህወሀት/ኢሀዴግ/ኦነግ/ብልጽግና/አብን/ኢዜማ የተዘጋጁበት መልክና ምሳሌ ይህ መሆኑን ነው። የኢትዮጵያ ባንዲራ ላይ እና የመንፈስ ማንነትና ምንነት ካለው የትግራይ ሕዝብ ታሪክ ጋር ምንም ዓይነት ግኑኝነት በሌለው “የትግራይ ባንዲራ” ላይ ያረፈው ባለ አምስት ፈርጥ ኮከብ በሕዝባችን ላይ ያስከተለብንን ስቃይና ሰቆቃ ካየን በኋላ ዛሬም ሲውለበለብ ማየታችን እውነትም እነዚህን ቡድኖች ሉሲፈር ለስሙና ለክብሩ ፈጥሯቸዋል፣ ምኞቱንም እያሟሉለት ነው ማለት ነው። እንድምናየውም አራተኛ ትውልድ የተባለው የምኒልክ መንግስት መጨረሻ ወይም ፍጻሜ የህወሀት/ኢሀዴግ/ኦነግ/ብልጽግና/አብን/ኢዜማ አገዛዝ ነው። እነዚህን ቡድኖች የፀነሳቸው የምኒልክ የስጋ ምኞት ነበርና። ዛሬ ያለው አገዛዝ/መንግስት የምኒልክ መንግስት ነው።

በትግራይ ሕዝብ ላይ ከዚህ በፊት ታይቶና ተሰምቶ የማይታወቅ ግፍና በደል እየደረሰበትና በደል ፈጻሚዎቹም አረመኔዎቹ እነ ግራኝ አብዮት አህመድ መሆናቸው በግልጽ እየታወቀ፤ እንዴት ነው ህወሀቶች የበቀል እርምጃ የመውሰድ ከበቂ በላይ ብዙ ምክኒያቶች ኖሯቸው በግራኝ አገዛዝ አባላት ላይ እስካሁን አንድም የጥቃት እርምጃ መውሰድ ያልቻለው/ያልፈለገው? ዲያ ህወሃት እና ኦነግ/ብልጽግና/ብአዴን/አብን በእነ ሳሙራ ዩኑስ፣ ኬሪያ ኢብራሂም እና አረከበ እቁባይ በኩል አብረው ተናብበው እየሠሩ ይሆንን?

እነዚህ ሁለት ሁኔታዎች ከ፴፭/35 ዓመታት በኋላ በአንድ ወቅት እንደገና መደገማቸው በአጋጣሚ? እስራኤል፤ “ለልጆቼ ቆሚያለሁ” ፥ “ኢትዮጵያ ግን ለልጆቿ ደንታ የላትም!” የሚለውን መልዕክት ለማስተላለፍ የተሞከረ ይመስለኛል።

ታዲያ ዛሬ ዓለም “የልደት በዓል መሆኑን ያውቃሉን?” Do they know it’s Christmas? ብላ በድጋሚ ትዘፍንልን ይሆንን?

ህወሃቶች የሰሩት ትልቅ ወንጀል ሃገረ ኢትዮጵያን ለጠላቶቿ ጋሎች ማስረከባቸውና ዛሬ ቅድስት የኢትዮጵያ ምድር የሆነችውን ትግራይን የጦርነት ቀጠና ለማድረግ መወሰናቸው ነው። እንደው ጦርነት መካሄድ ካለበት እንኳን ህገ–ወጥ በሆኑት ሶማሊያ እና ኦሮሚያ በተባሉት ክልሎች መሆን ነበረበት። ምክኒያቱም የኢትዮጵያ ቀንደኛ ጠላቶች የሚገኙት በእነዚህ ሁለት ክልሎች ነውና። ጀግናው አፄ ዮሐንስ ኢትዮጵያን በድጋሚ ታላቅ ለማድረግ መጀመሪያ ከእነዚህ ሁለት ክልሎች ነበር ፀረ–ኢትዮጵያውያኑን ጠራርገው የሚያስወጧቸው።

ህወሃቶች ሁሉም ነገር በእጃቸው ነበር፤ ሰራዊቱ፣ መሳሪያው፣ ተቋማቱ ወዘተ በቁጥጥራቸው ስር ነበር። እንደው ቆሻሻው ግራኝ አብዮት አህመድ ጠላታቸው ቢሆን ኖሮ በአንድ ሰዓት ውስጥ ሊደፉት በቻሉ ነበር፤ ነገር ግን ይህን አይፈልጉም፤ ምክኒያቱም የግራኝ ብልጽግና እና ህወሃት ኢትዮጵያን ለማፈራረስና በትግራይ የሚኖሩትን ጥንታውያኑን ኢትዮጵያውያንን በጥይት፣ በስደት፣ በበሽታ እና በረሃብ ፈጅተው ለመጨረስ ተናብበው እየሰሩ ነውና ነው። ሁሉም ይህን ዲያብሎሳዊ ተልዕኮ ለማስፈጸም ከሰላሳ ዓመታት በፊት በደማቸው ፈርመዋልና ነው።

ከአደዋው ድል በኋላ ከአፄ ምኒሊክ ስጋዊ ማንነት የመነጨውን የብሔር ብሔረሰብ ርዕዮት ዓለም የተረከቡት የስጋ ማንነት ያላቸው ህወሃት(ራያ) እና ኦነግ ህገ-መንግስት ተብየውን ከሉሲፈራውያኑ ሲቀበሉና ክልሎችን ሲመሰርቱ “እናንተ ለሃያ ሰባት ዓመት ትገዙና ወደ መቀሌ ትሄዳላችሁ፤ ከዚያም በእናንተ ላይ ጦርነት እናውጅና ተዋሕዶ ትግሬ ኢትዮጵያውያንን እናናውጣቸዋለን፣ እያዋረድን እና ሞራላቸውንም እየሰበርን እናዳክማቸዋለን፣ እናጠፋቸዋለን፤” በሚል ስውር ስምምነት ነበር።

ዛሬ እኮ የምናየው ልክ ይህን ነው፤ እስኪ ተመልከቱ፤ ከሰላሳ ዓመታት በፊት ኦነግ ከህወሃት ጋር ሆን መንግስት መሰረተ፣ ቀጥሎ ጊዜውን ጠብቆ ከመንግስት በስልት እንዲገለል ተደረግ፣ ከዚያም አስመራ ገባ፣ አሁን ጊዜው ሲደርስ ወደ አዲስ አበባ ተመለሰ ብልጽግና የሚባል ፓርቲ መሰረተ በመጨረሻም በትግራይ ላይ ጦርነት አወጀ።

አስገራሚ ነው፤ ከሁሉም “ሰሜናዊ” ከሆኑ ወገኖች ጋር ተናብቦ እየሰራ ያለ ብቸኛው ቡድን ኦነግ ነው። ኦነግ ከኢሳያስ አፈቆርኪ ጋር፣ ከደብረጽዮን ጋር፣ ከአብዮት አህመድ ጋር፣ ከሙስጠፌ ጋር፣ ከአዴፓ ጋር፣ ከአብን ጋር፣ ከሲዳማ እና ወላይታ እንቅስቃሴዎች ጋር፣ ከግብጽ ጋር፣ ከሳውዲ እና ኤሚራቶች ጋር፣ ከአውሮፓውያን እና አሜሪካውያን ጋር አብሮ ይሰራል። ግራኝ አብዮት አህመድ እኮ እንዲህ ብሎናል፤ “ኦሮሞ እስኪነቃ ነው እንጂ፣ እስኪነሳ ነው እንጂ ሲነሳ ሚዳቋ አትበላንም፤ እኛ ዝሆን ነን፤ እንሰብራለን፤ እንበላለን፤ እንገዛለን፣ ሃሳብ አለን፤ ድርጅት አለን፤ ከአለም ጋር ግንኙነት አለን።”

የስጋ ማንነት ያለው አጋሩ ራያው ጌታቸው ረዳ ደግሞ ሰሞኑን “በአልሞት ባይ ተጋዳይነት”፡ እንዲህ ብሎናል፤ “ጦርነቱ የሚያበቃው ሁሉም የትግራይ ሕዝብ ሲያልቅ ነው”

አዎ! እንደምናየው የትግራይን ሕዝብ ሊያስጨርሱት የወሰኑ ይመስላሉ፤ ዛሬ ሳሰላስል የመጣልኝ ጥያቄ፡ “ላለፉት ሁለት ዓመታት ሀወሃት የጦር ሠራዊቱን ጡንቻ ለማሳየት ብዙ ልምምዶችን ሲያካሂድ ነበር፤ ይህን ልምምድ በተለይ የትግራይ ሕዝብ ነው እንዲያየው የተደረገው፤ ይህን የልምምድ ትዕይንት የተከተለው ባለፈው በትግራይ ተካሂዶ የነበረው ምርጫ ነበር፤ ታዲያ ልምምዱ “እኔ ነኝ አለኝታችሁ፤ እኔን ከመረጣችሁ እከላከላችኋለሁ፤ ካልመረጣችሁ ለጠላት አሳልፌ እሰጣችኋለሁ” የሚል መልዕክት ኖሮት ይሆን? ምናልባት ህወሃት እንደጠበቁት በትግራይ ነዋሪዎች ዘንድ ባለመመረጣቸው፤ አሁን ሕዝቡን እየተበቀሉት ይሆን? እንግዲህ እንኳን ትግራይን መላው ምስራቅ አፍሪቃን የመከላከል ብቃቱ እንዳላቸው ለሰላሳ ዓመታት ያህል አሳይተዋል፤ ታዲያ ዛሬ ያሰለጠኑትን ልፍስፍስ የግራኝን ሠራዊት እንዴት ሰተት ብሎ ወደ ትግራይ እንዲገባ ፈቀዱለት? ጦርነት መምጣቱስ ላልቀረ ገና አዲስ አበባ አራት ኪሎ እያሉ መዋጋት ይችሉ አልነበረምን? ለምን ወደ ትግራይ ሄደው መሸጉ? ሆን ብለው ይህን ጦርነት ወደ ትግራይ ለማምጣት አይደለምን?

Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Jeffrey Feltman has just completed his first visit to the region as U.S. Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, traveling to Egypt, Eritrea, Sudan, and Ethiopia from May 4 to 13, 2021.

The Horn of Africa is at an inflection point, and the decisions that are made in the weeks and months ahead will have significant implications for the people of the region as well as for U.S. interests. The United States is committed to addressing the interlinked regional crises and to supporting a prosperous and stable Horn of Africa in which its citizens have a voice in their governance and governments are accountable to their citizens.

A sovereign and united Ethiopia is integral to this vision. Yet we are deeply concerned about increasing political and ethnic polarization throughout the country. The atrocities being perpetrated in Tigray and the scale of the humanitarian emergency are unacceptable. The United States will work with our international allies and partners to secure a ceasefire, end this brutal conflict, provide the life-saving assistance that is so urgently needed, and hold those responsible for human rights abuses and violations accountable. The crisis in Tigray is also symptomatic of a broader set of national challenges that have imperiled meaningful reforms. As Special Envoy Feltman discussed with Prime Minister Abiy and other Ethiopian leaders, these challenges can most effectively be addressed through an inclusive effort to build national consensus on the country’s future that is based on respect for the human and political rights of all Ethiopians. The presence of Eritrean forces in Ethiopia is antithetical to these goals. In Asmara, Special Envoy Feltman underscored to President Isaias Afwerki the imperative that Eritrean troops withdraw from Ethiopia immediately.

The Special Envoy will return to the region in short order to continue an intensive diplomatic effort on behalf of President Biden and Secretary Blinken.

Ethiopia’s government said on Friday it was returning Eritrean refugees to camps in the northern Tigray region, a move that the United Nations refugee agency said was “absolutely unacceptable”.

The refugees are being taken from the capital Addis Ababa back to two camps they had fled from during a month of fighting between the military and a rebellious regional force because it is now safe and stable in Tigray, the government said in a statement.

“A large number of misinformed refugees are moving out in an irregular manner,” the statement said. “The government is safely returning those refugees to their respective camps.”

United Nations officials have expressed concern about reports of continued clashes in the region.

“We have not been informed by the government or any other authorities or other partners about a planned relocation,” Babar Baloch, spokesman for the United Nations refugee agency, said at a news conference in Geneva. He called the reports “alarming” and said, “Any planned relocation would be absolutely unacceptable.”

There are 96,000 Eritrean refugees registered in Ethiopia. Most live in Tigray, which borders Eritrea.

Tens of thousands have sought safety in Sudan, where they gave accounts to Times journalists of a devastating and complex conflict that threatens Ethiopia’s stability

The armed men who stopped Ashenafi Hailu along the dirt road dragged him by a noose so they could save bullets.

Mr. Ashenafi, 24, was racing on his motorcycle to the aid of a childhood friend trapped by the Ethiopian government’s military offensive in the northern region of Tigray when a group of men on foot confronted him. They identified themselves as militia members of a rival ethnic group, he said, and they took his cash and began beating him, laughing ominously.

“Finish him!” Mr. Ashenafi remembered one of the men saying.

As they tightened the noose around his neck and began pulling him along the road, Mr. Ashenafi was sure he was going to die, and he eventually passed out. But he said he awoke alone near a pile of bodies, children among them. His motorcycle was gone.

Mr. Ashenafi and dozens of other Tigrayan refugees fled the violence and settled outside the remote and dusty town of Hamdayet, a community of just a few thousand people near the border, where I spoke to them. Their firsthand accounts, shared a month after Ethiopia’s prime minister, Abiy Ahmed, declared war on the Tigray region, detail a devastating conflict that has become a grisly wellspring of looting, ethnic antagonism and killings.

Many of the refugees have lingered here rather than moving on to the more established refugee camps farther into Sudan, staying closer to home so they can get any news about their towns or missing loved ones. But little information is getting out, with mobile networks and the internet blocked for weeks by the Ethiopian government.

Nearly 50,000 have fled to Sudan so far, in what the United Nations has called the worst exodus of refugees Ethiopia has seen in more than two decades. And their accounts contradict the repeated claims from Mr. Abiy, who won the Nobel Peace Prize last year for ending the border conflict with neighboring Eritrea, that no civilians are being hurt.

The Tigrayans describe being caught between indiscriminate military shelling and a campaign of killing, rape and looting by government-allied ethnic militias. Several told me that they saw dozens of bodies along the route as they fled their shops, homes and farms and took to the long road to the border with Sudan, in stifling heat.

As the fighting in Tigray continues, it is degenerating into a guerrilla war that could unravel both Ethiopia’s national fabric and the stability of the entire Horn of Africa region. That includes Eritrea, which is allied with Ethiopia against the Tigray and has been shelled by the rebel forces; and Sudan, which has heavily deployed its army along its restive border with Ethiopia even as it has allowed refugees to cross.

The Tigray make up about 6 percent of Ethiopia’s 110 million people, and they were the arbiters of power and money in the country from 1991, when they helped dismantle a military dictatorship, until 2018, when anti-government protests catapulted Mr. Abiy to power.

Mr. Abiy had sought to emphasize national unity and diversity in a multiethnic Ethiopia, even as he began methodically excluding Tigrayan figures from public life and condemning their abuses while they were in power. Now, the conflict stands at stark odds with the legacy he was seeking, and with the stability of the entire country.

If Mr. Abiy’s aim was to unite an increasingly divided country, then “this conflict has made that harder to achieve, and so increased the likelihood of serious ongoing political instability,” said William Davison, a senior Ethiopia analyst with the International Crisis Group who was recently expelled from the country.

Adding to the deadly mix are the involvement of rival ethnic militia groups. One of them is the Fano, a militia from the Amhara ethnic group. Along with Amhara regional government security forces, Fano took part in the intervention in Tigray, Mr. Davison said.

While Fano is a term loosely used to refer to young Amhara militias or protesters, Mr. Davison added that it is also “the name given to youthful Amhara vigilante groups that become more active during times when there is perceived to be insecurity that is not being managed by the authorities.”

Tigrayan refugees in Sudan said that Fano fighters attacked and maimed them, ransacked their properties and extorted them as they sought to flee. Many of the Tigrayans, including Mr. Ashenafi, said that they were afraid of going back and that the experience had left them sleepless and scarred.

After Mr. Ashenafi awoke and saw the bodies around him, he trudged through a nearby forest to reach the home of his friend, Haftamu Berhanu, who took him in. Photos taken by Mr. Haftamu and seen by The New York Times showed Mr. Ashenafi lying on his back, white skin peeled away around his neck from the noose.

For days afterward, Mr. Ashenafi could not talk or swallow anything and communicated with his friend through pointing or writing things down.

“It was heartbreaking,” Mr. Haftamu said of the days caring for his friend.

“I didn’t expect in our life that our government would kill us,” Mr. Ashenafi said. “I am frightened so much. I am not sleeping at night.”

Many of the refugees who made it to Sudan have been resettled to the Um Rakuba camp about 43 miles away from the border. But many are also staying around a refugee transit point in Hamdayet, hoping to return home or reunite with their families once it is safe.

In this dusty outpost, the refugees convene every morning at the Tekeze River, a natural border between Ethiopia and Sudan, to shower, collect water and clean whatever clothes they brought with them. On a recent afternoon, as children dived into the flowing river and Ethiopian music played from a nearby phone, the refugees recounted scenes of horror that they witnessed.

Many told me that they came from Humera, an agricultural town of about 30,000 people near both the Sudanese and Eritrean borders. Thousands suddenly fled the town with whatever they could carry when shelling began around midnight from what the refugees said was the direction of Eritrea.

Some gathered first at nearby churches, but after hearing that other churches had been shelled, they started the hourslong journey on foot to Sudan. They said that militia fighters began streaming in.

“The Amhara militia cut people’s heads,” said a Humera resident named Meles, who wanted to be identified by only his first name out of fear of retribution.

Meles, who owned a small cafe, said that the Fano’s reputation preceded them and that just as he feared, he encountered many dead bodies along the way to Sudan. As he spoke to me, a crowd gathered near him on the banks of the river, many nodding and verbally affirming his account as he told it.

At least 139 children are among those who arrived in Sudan unaccompanied, many of whom are now at risk of abuse and discrimination, according to the organization Save the Children.

With the Tigray region sandwiched between the Amhara region and Eritrea, which is aligned with the Ethiopian national government, Meles said he was glad that refugees like him had another outlet for escape.

“Thank God there’s Sudan for us to turn to,” he said.

“I had to speak my fluent Amharic to survive,” said Filimon Shishay, a 21-year-old Tigrayan who said he encountered the Fano and had to part with the $5 he had with him. “They hate us,” he said.

There has long been enmity between the Tigray and Amhara. When Tigrayan rebels seized power in 1991, Amharas claimed that the Tigray People’s Liberation Front, which governed the region, occupied land that historically belonged to them.

“The widespread assumption is T.P.L.F. wanted to annex these areas in order to have a border with Sudan and to tap into the fertile land for economic development,” Hone Mandefro, an Ethiopian analyst and a doctoral candidate in sociology and anthropology at Concordia University in Canada, said in an email.

Mr. Davison of the International Crisis Group said that with Amhara security and militia forces active in Tigray in recent weeks, and with some Amhara administrators put in place there, “it appears to be a de facto Amhara occupation of territory they claim the T.P.L.F. annexed.”

The move is likely to lead to violent Tigrayan reprisals, he said, as may have already occurred in the town of Mai Kadra, where human rights groups have said forces loyal to the liberation front massacred as many as 600 people, most of them Amhara.

Many refugees in Hamdayet blamed politicians, and particularly Mr. Abiy, for pitting civilians against one another. “The Amhara and the Tigray are one,” Negese Berhe Hailu, a 25-year-old engineer, said.

Hadas Hagos, 67, fled her home in Humera — which is part of the larger West Tigray area the Amharas claim — and worried she wouldn’t be able to go back or see the family members she left behind. Other refugees who arrived later informed her that her home had been looted.

“We fought for freedom and democracy,” said Ms. Hadas, breaking into tears as she recounted how she and her family fought against the Marxist regime in the 1980s, and how she lost her brother to the war. “We don’t deserve this kind of life.”

At Least 500 Ethiopian Christians Reported Slaughtered in Relentless Door-To-Door Attacks Since June

Muslim militants have killed hundreds of Christians, including pregnant women, children, and whole families in Ethiopia’s most populous regional state, aid workers told BosNewsLife.

The coordinated killings of more than 500 Christians in Oromia reportedly began after famous Oromo singer Hachallu Hundessa was shot dead June 29 while driving on the outskirts of the nation’s capital Addis Ababa.

“The attackers are from the Oromo ethnic group, which has traditionally been Muslim, “explained Barnabas Fund, a Christian aid and advocacy group. “They are members of Qeerroo (meaning, “bachelors”), an Oromo male youth movement, “Barnabas Fund added.

Local Christians and aid workers said the militants arrived in cars armed with guns, machetes, swords, and spears for door-to-door attacks on Christian households.

They “sought out and slaughtered Christians,” said well-informed Barnabas Fund in a statement. “Children were forced to witness their parents being brutally murdered with machetes.”

BEHEADED FOR FAITH

Among those killed were Oromo Orthodox Christians and believers from other ethnic backgrounds, several Christian sources said. At least one Oromo Orthodox Christian was reportedly beheaded for refusing to deny his faith in Christ.

The militants killed him while tearing off the thread around his neck that is worn by many Ethiopian Christians as a sign of their baptism, Christians said.

His widow told Barnabas in a statement: “The attackers said that it is only he or she who prostrates with us before Allah for prayer, which is considered an Oromo.”

An Ethiopian Christian leader, who was not named amid security concerns, called for an international inquiry into the mass slayings. The leader and other Christians were not immediately identified amid security concerns.

But Barnabas regional contacts confirmed attacks in numerous towns such as Arsi Negele, Ziway, Shashemane, Gedeb Asasa, Kofele, Dodola, Adaba, Robe, Goba, Bale Agarfa, Chiro, Harar, Dire Dawa, Adama, Dera, Asela, and Kembolcha, reaching to the far south-east and east of the African nation.

LISTS OF CHRISTIANS

“Some of the Qeerroo fighters held lists of Christians and were helped by local authorities, often run by Muslims in the Oromia region,” Barnabas Fund explained. They used the lists “to find individuals, particularly those actively involved in supporting the Church,” the group said.

Local witnesses said that police stood by and watched as the murders unfolded. However, Barnabas Fund also noted that in Bale Agarfa area, “some Christians were saved by the intervention of courageous local Muslims who risked their own lives to protect them.”

Besides the killings, Christians’ business premises and houses were burnt, vandalized, or otherwise destroyed by the extremists, Barnabas Fund recalled. “Billions of dollars of damage was caused to property, including businesses owned by internationally renowned Christian athlete, Haile Gebreselassie, in Ziway and Shashamahe towns.”

The severity of the atrocities shocked local witnesses. In Dera, a witness reportedly described how killers desecrated corpses by “dancing and singing, carrying the chopped or hacked body parts of those they slaughtered.”

Another witness reported how the hacked bodies of an elderly Christian couple, who were beaten to death in their home, were dragged through the streets in Gedeb Asasa.

MANY ARE TRAUMATISED

“Thousands of traumatized survivors have fled for their lives, including orphaned children, and many are being sheltered in churches and community centers,” Barnabas Fund told Worthy News.

A regional contact was quoted as saying: “Many still live in fear. Christian leaders from all denominations visited the areas. I watched news where priests and pastors physically wept in tears while listened to horrors from the victims’ families.”

The Ethiopian government reportedly suspended the internet in the region for several weeks in an “attempt to reduce incitement” to violence through social media channels.

But Christians say government security forces have been slow to intervene to halt the mass killings.

Christians compared the increase in murders to the period that led to the Rwandan genocide of hundreds of thousands of people in 1994.

VIOLENCE STILL CONTINUES

Though police detained thousands, including local officials implicated in the attacks, violence continues. Local Christians say “targeted genocide” of Christians by militants continued in the south, south-east, and east of Addis Ababa.

Ethiopian Christians have urged fellow believers worldwide to pressure Ethiopian embassies to take immediate action to end the killings.

Barnabas Fund told Worthy News that these are no isolated incidents. “High-profile Oromo media mogul, Jawar Mohammed, provoked unrest in Ethiopia in October 2019 when he criticized the government in tweets to his supporters. Violent protests ensued, leading to 67 deaths,” it recalled.

“Around the same time, two pastors were beheaded in Sebeta, in the Oromia region to the south-east of Addis Ababa. A Barnabas contact added that many churches were burnt that year,” Barnabas Fund said.

Since September 2018, violent ethnic clashes have led to some two million Ethiopians becoming internally displaced, according to Christian aid workers
