Shame on The BBC and Other Western Outlets Who are Silent in The Face of Huge Crimes in Ethiopia

Posted by addisethiopia / አዲስ ኢትዮጵያ on December 28, 2020

BBC Glosses Ethiopia Horror

A feel-good headline on the BBC this week reads: “How a pariah and Nobel laureate became friends”. It was referring to the leaders of Eritrea and Ethiopia, as if their “friendship” was some kind of benign development to be lauded.

The feature article opens with: “In a sign of the changing political fortunes of a man who was once a pariah, Eritrea’s President Isaias Afwerki has proven to be a staunch ally of Ethiopia’s Nobel Peace Prize winner and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, giving his troops much-needed support to fight the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) in Tigray.”

The state-owned British broadcaster quotes the Ethiopian premier thanking Eritrea which “had fed, clothed and armed retreating Ethiopian soldiers when the TPLF first attacked them and seized their bases in Tigray, an Ethiopian region which borders Eritrea.” The BBC went on to note: “This was a significant acknowledgement by Mr Abiy, though he did not go as far as to admit claims that Mr Isaias, had also sent troops to help defeat the TPLF, a long-time foe of the Eritrean leader who has been in power since 1993.”

This is how the BBC and other Western media outlets are spinning cover for what is really going on in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region. There is an ongoing aggression against the Tigray people by the Abiy regime which is referred to as the Ethiopian “government”. Abiy was never elected. He took power in early 2018 as part of a backroom political deal.

In his effort to crush the political opposition represented by the Tigray people and their political leadership, Abiy has enlisted the full military support of Eritrea to invade Tigray along with Abiy regime forces.

Eritrean military and paramilitaries are deep inside Tigray territory, killing civilians and looting the towns and villages with the collusion of the Ethiopian so-called Nobel laureate.

Abiy’s claims of launching a “law and order operation” to round up the Tigray “junta” which began on November is a sick joke. What was supposed to be a quick operation in the national interest has escalated into an ongoing guerrilla war which has seen millions of impoverished people turned into refugees internally and externally, with up to 45,000 fleeing to neighboring Sudan.

Sources in Tigray have confirmed the presence of Eritrean brigades – some even wearing Ethiopian national military garb – working alongside Abiy’s regime forces. Towns and villages have been shelled from Eritrea and hit by air strikes carried out by the Abiy regime.

UN human rights commissioner Michele Bachelet has condemned these massive violations, although she added that Tigray rebels have also perpetrated war crimes. The rebels have hit the Eritrean capital, Asmara, with rockets claiming retaliation.

The US State Department also stated that it had evidence of Eritrean forces deployed in Tigray region.

In the above BBC report it did refer to “unconfirmed claims” of atrocities carried out by Abiy regime and Eritrean forces.

Nevertheless, the main thrust of the BBC’s coverage has been to give more credibility to the version put out by the “Nobel-peace-prize-winning Prime Minister” Abiy Ahmed.

The reality is, however, that so-called laureate has ganged up with the Eritrean dictator to launch a war on the Tigray people. That’s what is really going on, yet the BBC would have us believe that these two de facto war criminals are “staunch allies” who have become unlikely “friends” as if it is a rosy story of political romance.

Since Abiy ascended to the premiership (and has postponed elections promised as part of his interim office), he has been waging a low-intensity war of aggression against the Tigray region. Electricity and water supply cuts over the past two years have worn the people down. Then he attempted a daring covert military operation on November 3 in collusion with Eritrean commandoes in the Tigray capital of Mekelle, according to local sources. The Tigray forces thwarted that offensive, which Abiy then fabricated as an unprovoked attack on the national army by “terrorists”.

The BBC and other Western media outlets have been dutifully spinning events in Ethiopia. Two years of hostility towards Tigray by the unelected Abiy regime has been spun as “reforms” by a “pro-democracy” figure. Now when this same figure is waging a genocide aided and abetted by a foreign army from Eritrea, the BBC is endeavoring to tell us this is a sign of “friendship”.

Shame on the BBC and other Western outlets who are silent in the face of huge crimes. Evidently, their condemnations only happen when it is politically expedient to undermine a nation which is an official enemy of Western governments.

Media Silence Surrounds Muslim Massacre of Christians

Posted by addisethiopia / አዲስ ኢትዮጵያ on March 18, 2019

Political leaders and public figures were falling over themselves this weekend to condemn the mosque attacks in New Zealand, while dozens of Christians were slaughtered by Muslims in Nigeria to the sound of crickets.

The mosque attacks were indeed a horrific affair and worthy of universal condemnation. Presidents, prime ministers, royalty, and religious leaders rushed to extend their condolences to victims and their families — as well they should — while decrying the hate that purportedly motivated the shootings.

Without exception, the mainstream media gave top billing to the shootings, with newspapers carrying the story on their front pages and television news channels leading off their broadcasts with the story.

The bizarre aspect of the coverage was not, in fact, the attention paid to a heinous crime committed in New Zealand, but the absolute silence surrounding the simultaneous massacre of scores of Christians by Muslim militants in Africa.

As Breitbart News alone reported among major news outlets, Fulani jihadists racked up a death toll of over 120 Christians over the past three weeks in central Nigeria, employing machetes and gunfire to slaughter men, women, and children, burning down over 140 houses, destroying property, and spreading terror.

The New York Times did not place this story on the front page; in fact, they did not cover it at all. Apparently, when assessing “all the news that’s fit to print,” the massacre of African Christians did not measure up. The same can be said for the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune, the Detroit Free Press, the LA Times, and every other major paper in the United States.

The news shows from the three major television channels did not mention the story, and nor did CNN or MSNBC.

There are several possible explanations for this remarkable silence, and none of them is good.

Since, in point of fact, Muslim radicals kill Christians around the world with alarming frequency, it is probable that one more slaughter did not seem particularly newsworthy to the decision-makers at major news outlets. Muslims being killed, on the other hand, may strike many as newsworthy precisely because it is so rare.

A second motive for the media silence around the massacre of Christians in Nigeria may be geo-political and racial. New Zealand is a first-world country where such things are not supposed to happen, whereas many people still consider Africa to be a backwards place where brutal killings are par for the course.

Moreover, the slaughter of black Christians in Africa may not enkindle rage among westerners the way that the murder of white and brown Muslims in New Zealand would.

Finally, the story simply does not play to the political agenda that many mainstream media would like to advance. How much mileage can be gained from Muslims murdering Christians, when Christians in America are often seen as an obstacle to the “progress” desired by liberals? The left sees Christians in the United States as part of the problem and seeks to undermine their credibility and influence at every turn rather than emboldening them.

Anti-Christian bias has been rightly called “the last acceptable prejudice,” one that few bother condemning.

No one much cares about offending Christians,” wrote the coalition of African-American pastors in an essay last Tuesday. “In fact, mocking, belittling, and blaspheming Christianity is becoming a bit of a trend in our culture. Anti-Christian bigotry truly is the last acceptable prejudice.”

The hypocrisy on display is astounding,” the pastors continued. “Christianity is the dominant religion of our country. It is the foundation of our government and morality. And yet, Christians are treated as fair game for mockery and insult.”

Christians are by far the most persecuted religious group in the world, but the mainstream media routinely ignore this fact as if it were unimportant or uninteresting. As a result, many people do not even realize how widespread the persecution is or that 75 percent of the victims of religious persecution around the world are Christians.

Whatever the reason — or reasons — for the media silence surrounding the most recent massacres of Christians in Nigeria as well as numerous other such events, it should give right-thinking people pause.

By all means, the lethal shootings of dozens of Muslims in New Zealand is a massive story and merits extensive coverage. But it only stands to reason that similar coverage should be devoted to the slaughter of Christians.

For the moment, it serves as a poignant reminder that a double standard is at work when it comes to news coverage, and that it is Christians who inevitably draw the short straw.

Was Top German Journalist Udo Ulfkotte ASSASSINATED by Luciferian Globalists?

Posted by addisethiopia / አዲስ ኢትዮጵያ on February 20, 2017

Dr. Udo Ulfkotte who this past year shockingly revealed in his bestselling book that CIA controls German media, and all Western mainstream media is completely fake (“We all lie for the CIA”) and was banned from Facebook this past July for his exposing the plot behind Chancellor Angela Merkel’s flooding his nation with Islamic radicals, this report continues, had been summoned by President-elect Trump for a private meeting—but when he failed to make his Friday evening (13 January) flight to New York City, was shortly thereafter discovered dead in his home—and that German authorities promptly ruled was due to a heart attack, conducted no autopsy, and then quickly cremated his body.

He was 56 — prophetic about the current “FAKE NEWS” hysteria – A Brave And Wonderful Human Being! R.I.P

Ulfkotte was an editor at Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, one of the largest newspapers in Germany, when he published Bought Journalists, the bestselling book that cost him his job and perhaps his life.

German media, who were banned from reporting on his work in recent years, are reporting he died of “heart failure”.

Acknowledging that his life was under threat, Ulfkotte explained that he was in a better position than most journalists to expose the truth because he didn’t have any children who could be threatened.

Speaking to the Russian newspaper Russian Insider, Ulkfotte said:

When I told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (Ulfkotte’s newspaper) that I would publish the book, their lawyers sent me a letter threatening with all legal consequences if I would publish any names or secrets – but I don’t mind. You see, I don’t have children to take care of.

His fears for a war in Europe, lead him to his decision to tell the truth about corporate media being controlled by intelligence services on behalf of the financial class.

I’ve been a journalist for about 25 years, and I’ve been educated to lie, to betray, and not to tell the truth to the public,” Ulfkotte told Russia Today. “I was supported by the Central Intelligence Agency, the CIA. Why? Because I am pro-American.”

The German and American media tries to bring war to the people in Europe, to bring war to Russia. This is a point of no return, and I am going to stand up and say… it is not right what I have done in the past, to manipulate people, to make propaganda against Russia.

Ulfkotte said most corporate media journalists in the United States and Europe are “so-called non-official cover,” meaning that they work for an intelligence agency.

“I think it is especially the case with British journalists, because they have a much closer relationship. It is especially the case with Israeli journalists. Of course with French journalists. … It is the case for Australians, [with] journalists from New Zealand, from Taiwan, well, there is many countries,” he said.

Ulfkotte’s book Bought Journalists became a bestseller in Germany but, in a bizarre twist which Ulfkotte says characterizes the disconnect caused by CIA control of the western media, the book cannot be reported on by the German press.

Ulfkotte said:

No German mainstream journalist is allowed to report about [my] book. Otherwise he or she will be sacked. So we have a bestseller now that no German journalist is allowed to write or talk about.

Among the stories Ulfkotte says he was ordered by the CIA to plant in his newspaper was a fake story that Libyan President Moammar Gaddafi was building poison gas factories in 2011.

The German and American media tries to bring war to the people in Europe, to bring war to Russia,” he told RT.

This is a point of no return, and I am going to stand up and say … it is not right what I have done in the past, to manipulate people, to make propaganda against Russia, and it is not right what my colleagues do, and have done in the past, because they are bribed to betray the people not only in Germany, all over Europe. … I am very fearful of a new war in Europe, and I don’t like to have this situation again, because war is never coming from itself, there is always people who push for war, and this is not only politicians, it is journalists too. … We have betrayed our readers, just to push for war. … I don’t want this anymore; I’m fed up with this propaganda. We live in a banana republic, and not in a democratic country where we have press freedom.

German Newspaper Editor: Assassination Easiest Way To End “Trump Catastrophe”

Thank you Donald Trump from Sweden

Thank you Donald Trump from the bottom of my heart. Me and my friends have seen major changes in Sweden during the last 20 years for the worse. The climate of debate has become insane. They are labeling any criticism of immigrants as hate speech. There are actual laws being put into place to silence crititcs of the muslims coming to sweden. Muslims who in general cant participate in society and also bring crime and rape culture to oir beautifull country.

I have 2 daughters and I fear for their future. I have a blo de girlfriend who I fear for when she takes a walk alone.

This is not written about or the fake news blame us the native swedes for the rise in number of rapes.

It is insane and you are correct. Today Swedish media is runnings negative stories about Donald Trump as they have during the last year and a half. There is no way for us ordinary people to oppose the medias lies.

Therefore I thank you from the bottom of my heart for speaking out for us the ordinary people…

If any Glpers would like to send complaints to swedish media about their fake news it would be much appreciated.

Top Secret Cia Poison Dart Gun ‘gives Targets Deadly Heart Attacks And Leaves No Trace’

A WHISTLEBLOWER has claimed the CIA developed a “heart attack gun” laced with deadly poison to carry out assassinations.

The pistol reportedly shoots a dart – which can cause a heart attack once it enters the bloodstream – into its victims.

It can pierce through clothing leaves no signs of impact on the skin except a small red dot, according to insiders.

The weapon, a modified Colt 1911, is believed to have been mentioned during the infamous Church Committee probe into the CIA in 1975.

Whistleblower Mary Embree said: “The poison was frozen into some sort of dart and then it was shot at very high speed into the person.

“When it reached the person it would melt inside them, and there would be a tiny red dot on their body, which was hard to detect.

“There wouldn’t be a needle or anything like that left in the person.”

Footage from the the probe in 1975 has recently gone viral after being shared by conspiracy theorists.

In the video, Senator Frank Church asks CIA director William Colby asked: “Does this pistol fire the dart?”

He replies: “Yes, it does, Mr Chairman, and a special one was developed which, potentially would be able to enter the target without perception.”

Colby also reveals the toxin would not appear in an autopsy – so there would be “no way of perceiving that the target was hit”.

WikiLeaks: Buying Silence: How The Saudi Foreign Ministry Controls Arab Media

Posted by addisethiopia / አዲስ ኢትዮጵያ on June 22, 2015

MediaManipulation2

On Monday, Saudi Arabia celebrated the beheading of its 100th prisoner this year. The story was nowhere to be seen on Arab media despite the story’s circulation on wire services. Even international media was relatively mute about this milestone compared to what it might have been if it had concerned a different country. How does a story like this go unnoticed?

Today’s release of the WikiLeaks “Saudi Cables” from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs show how it’s done.

The oil-rich Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its ruling family take a systematic approach to maintaining the country’s positive image on the international stage. Most world governments engage in PR campaigns to fend off criticism and build relations in influential places. Saudi Arabia controls its image by monitoring media and buying loyalties from Australia to Canada and everywhere in between.

Documents reveal the extensive efforts to monitor and co-opt Arab media, making sure to correct any deviations in regional coverage of Saudi Arabia and Saudi-related matters. Saudi Arabia’s strategy for co-opting Arab media takes two forms, corresponding to the “carrot and stick” approach, referred to in the documents as “neutralisation” and “containment”. The approach is customised depending on the market and the media in question.

“Contain” and “Neutralise”

The initial reaction to any negative coverage in the regional media is to “neutralise” it. The term is used frequently in the cables and it pertains to individual journalists and media institutions whose silence and co-operation has been bought. “Neutralised” journalists and media institutions are not expected to praise and defend the Kingdom, only to refrain from publishing news that reflects negatively on the Kingdom, or any criticism of its policies. The “containment” approach is used when a more active propaganda effort is required. Journalists and media institutions relied upon for “containment” are expected not only to sing the Kingdom’s praises, but to lead attacks on any party that dares to air criticisms of the powerful Gulf state.

One of the ways “neutralisation” and “containment” are ensured is by purchasing hundreds or thousands of subscriptions in targeted publications. These publications are then expected to return the favour by becoming an “asset” in the Kingdom’s propaganda strategy. A document listing the subscriptions that needed renewal by 1 January 2010 details a series of contributory sums meant for two dozen publications in Damascus, Abu Dhabi, Beirut, Kuwait, Amman and Nouakchott. The sums range from $500 to 9,750 Kuwaiti Dinars ($33,000). The Kingdom effectively buys reverse “shares” in the media outlets, where the cash “dividends” flow the opposite way, from the shareholder to the media outlet. In return Saudi Arabia gets political “dividends” – an obliging press.

An example of these co-optive practices in action can be seen in an exchange between the Saudi Foreign Ministry and its Embassy in Cairo. On 24 November 2011 Egypt’s Arabic-language broadcast station ONTV hosted the Saudi opposition figure Saad al-Faqih, which prompted the Foreign Ministry to task the embassy with inquiring into the channel. The Ministry asked the embassy to find out how “to co-opt it or else we must consider it standing in the line opposed to the Kingdom’s policies”.

The document reports that the billionaire owner of the station, Naguib Sawiris, did not want to be “opposed to the Kingdom’s policies” and that he scolded the channel director, asking him “never to host al-Faqih again”. He also asked the Ambassador if he’d like to be “a guest on the show”.

The Saudi Cables are rife with similar examples, some detailing the figures and the methods of payment. These range from small but vital sums of around $2000/year to developing country media outlets – a figure the Guinean News Agency “urgently needs” as “it would solve many problems that the agency is facing” – to millions of dollars, as in the case of Lebanese right-wing television station MTV.

Confrontation

The “neutralisation” and “containment” approaches are not the only techniques the Saudi Ministry is willing to employ. In cases where “containment” fails to produce the desired effect, the Kingdom moves on to confrontation. In one example, the Foreign Minister was following a Royal Decree dated 20 January 2010 to remove Iran’s new Arabic-language news network, Al-Alam, from the main Riyadh-based regional communications satellite operator, Arabsat. After the plan failed, Saud Al Faisal sought to “weaken its broadcast signal”.

The documents show concerns within the Saudi administration over the social upheavals of 2011, which became known in the international media as the “Arab Spring”. The cables note with concern that after the fall of Mubarak, coverage of the upheavals in Egyptian media was “being driven by public opinion instead of driving public opinion”. The Ministry resolved “to give financial support to influential media institutions in Tunisia”, the birthplace of the “Arab Spring”.

The cables reveal that the government employs a different approach for its own domestic media. There, a wave of the Royal hand is all that is required to adjust the output of state-controlled media. A complaint from former Lebanese Prime Minister and Saudi citizen Saad Hariri concerning articles critical of him in the Saudi-owned Al-Hayat and Asharq Al-Awsat newspapers prompted a directive to “stop these type of articles” from the Foreign Ministry.

This is a general overview of the Saudi Foreign Ministry’s strategy in dealing with the media. WikiLeaks’ Saudi Cables contain numerous other examples that form an indictment of both the Kingdom and the state of the media globally.

WikiLeaks Begins Releasing Leaked Saudi Arabia Cables

Was the following BBC program influenced by the Saudis? Pay attention to the results of the vote on the motion after the debate:

Should the West get out of bed with the House of Saud?

Another curiosity…

Why did “YouTube” decide to remove the following video I uploaded ( Saudi Arabian Family Hang an Ethiopian Woman From Hook) about the Saudi atrocities against Ethiopians? My upload was done on November 26, 2013, but YouTube decided to remove it two years later, after 7.000 views. The real reason? Mind you, extremely violent videos (including barbaric beheading) are all over the YouTube platform.

Global Media: Darkness In The Minds of The Producers?

Posted by addisethiopia / አዲስ ኢትዮጵያ on June 4, 2012

They accuse, belittle and insult the continent of Africa at will. In the 21st century, they still talk about Africa as if it is a small state, show their readiness to pick every ‘possible’ negative event in the continent and send subliminal messages, beamed at global radio and television audiences. The Western Media which gives very little attention to the fate of African states, continues to devote a large portion of its resources and energy towards painting the great continent of Africa in a negative light. Why is it? Is it because Africans don’t complain much about the past injustices, and are not as loud, aggressive and deadly as South Asians and Arabs? Or is it simply because Africa is the Cradle of Humanity, hence a superior continent?

Yesterday, while Ethiopians and other Orthodox Christians were celebrating the coming of the Holy Spirit on the twelve disciples of Jesus on the day of Pentecost, the British monarchy “by coincidence” chose this very day for the celebration of their own version of “Jubilee”, described, Queen Elizabeth II’s diamond jubilee – a celebration devoted to monarchy and military might. I have nothing against about their fun and festivities, but it’s amazing to observe that neither Christmas nor Easter get this much public and media attention in ‘New Britain”. There were protests and unsympathetic reactions when the Vatican Pope visited the UK two years ago – a very dangerous sign of ignorance and poor hospitality.

On this very day, 15 people were killed and dozens wounded in Nigerian church attack, and a plane with 153 passengers crashed, killing all 153 people aboard and at least 10 on the ground.

As the ‘real Christian Jubilee’ is about celebrating justice, peace and the equality of all people as created in the image of God, Western Media organizations who commonly employ to specifically dump negative news materials and information when reporting, communicating, or disseminating anything concerning Africa, have used such tragic occurrences like the one in Nigeria to blame, belittle and insult the whole of Africa and Africans. Mind you, Nigeria is one of the 54 member states of the “Commonwealth”, of which 16 belong to the so-called Commonwealth realm.

Minutes after the crash of “Dana Air” in Lagos — way before the cause of the crash has yet not been revealed, the medias immediately pointed their fingers at the incompetence of “Africans”, the incapability of “Africans” to fly a plane, as they’re collectively named.

Mind you, “Dana Air” which began operations in 2008 is privately operated and Indian-owned, and the pilot of the plane was American, the co-pilot Indian – the airliner was recently awarded the title of “Best Safety and Security Conscious Airline in Nigeria” Yet, the whole propaganda machine repeatedly preferred to emphasize on the “bankrupt” and “incompetence” nature of Africans. What to gain?

It’s known that media conditioning shapes, molds, and monopolizes those images, references to Africa are received sometimes with disdain and contempt. Even some western-educated Africans, who have virtually no cultural competence, actually contribute to how Africa is projected globally. Ashamed of their “heritage and historical past” they side with media characterizations projected through such stories and specials, by telling them what they only want to hear.

Listen to this program episode from the Africa-bashing broadcaster, the BBC – WorldHaveYourSay

Listen attentively to the words used by the moderator, notice which self-hating, self-promoting African representatives have been selected to sound off on the program. Shameless!

The cause of the crash is still unknown, yet, this one example proves the denigrated global image of Africans which was put by Europeans for decades is now baring its fruits among many in the West. Despicable comments and their ‘popular’ ratings on many of the blogs and forums – whether it concerns the church bombings, the plane crash, or the reluctance of Black football players heading, in particular to Orthodox Ukraine for the European Championship (Poland and Ukraine host) — you will be able to notice the artificial image which is as dark as the pervasive fear conjured up in the their minds.
