The Man Behind Ethiopia’s First Botanic Garden

I just read this story about the good Ethiopian botanical scientist, and twon things amused immediately:

1. Ethiopia’s 1st botanic garden? What about ‘Addis’ Bihere Tsige, which is as botanical as any Eurpean botanic garden? Do gardens have to their plants botanical names to qualify for gardens? Anyways, Prof. Sebsebe’s plan is a very good plan, as Ethioipia needs more gardens, parks and forests.

The report reads like this:

A leading Ethiopian botanical scientist plans to open Ethiopia’s first botanic garden. Professor Sebsebe Demissew says the continent needs people with the skills to advance plant research. The award-winning botanist has been explaining to us what the benefits of plants are to local people.

2. The 2nd thing that caught my attention is the striking resemblance I noticed between Professor Sebsebe and CNN weirdo Richard Quest. Exactly 9 years ago (21 Apr 2008) CNN’s most high-profile faces, Richard Quest was busted in New York’s Central Park with some drugs in his pocket, a rope around his neck that was tied to his genitals, and a sex toy in his boot, law-enforcement sources said. It wasn’t immediately clear what the rope was for. Madre mía! In case Mr. Quest still means business, and is fooling around with this sort of things, he should immediately go into rehab in one of the next botanic gardens of Professor Sebsebe.
