The Kings Of The Earth Have Committed Fornication And Are Drunk With The Wine (OIL)

Posted by addisethiopia on May 22, 2017

That’s exactly what we learn from President Trump’s visit to Babylon, Saudi Barbaria. They are all drunk, and Mammon is, indeed, well and truly in charge.

Don’t expect saints or saviors coming out of the ‘developed’ world. It looks like only Jesus Christ will deal with the wicked of this ignorant world.

Nobody seems to ask where the little prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud of Saudi Barbaria was during President Trump’s visit to his country? You remember last year? Fake prince Alwaleed who owns (34.9 million shares of Twitter’s common stock) more of Twitter than co-founder declared Donald Trump, ‘a disgrace to America‘ on Twitter – the same twitter which President Trump uses quite frequently.

With the world’s largest oil reserves, Saudi Arabia is literally holding the West to ransom. They are spreading their Wahhabi form of Islam and funding education facilities throughout the Western world. All the major universities now rely on oil money to prosper. From Arabia too we have UAE and Dubai ports which now control the gateway to many Western nations with the obvious ability to corrupt. Many would like to see the demise of Saudi Arabia and its corrupting influence, and maybe they will if prophecy comes true.

Both Revelation chapters 17 & 18 mention Babylon and we see Fallen, fallen is Babylon[Rev 18:2]

Trump’s Saudi Islam Speech Will Not Bind Islamic State’s Progenitors

Donald Trump goes to Saudi Arabia and the world awaits his much-trailed Islam speech. And what a mighty fine speech it was. The President of the United States boldly reiterated his notorious “Islam hates us” line and rebuked the House of Saud for spawning Wahhabism, fostering terrorism and abusing the human rights of thousands of its own citizens. called Islam one of the world’s great faiths, lauded King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for his decency and shared values, and rebuked Iran for murdering its own people and fuelling the fires of sectarian conflict and terror. In the long history of great theo-political analyses of good and evil, this speech missed the mark on so many levels that it scarcely merits any analysis. But President Trump did leave Riyadh with arms and defence contracts worth $350bn, which is good for jobs in the United States of America, if evil for the poor starving people of Yemen, not to mention the wider world increasingly infiltrated and infected by the murderous Salafist ideology.

If we do not stand in uniform condemnation of this killing – then not only will we be judged by our people, not only will we be judged by history, but we will be judged by God,” the President said, as he conveniently omitted to condemn the root cause of “this killing”, of which historian Tom Holland reminded us in his Channel 4 documentary ‘ISIS: The Origins of Violence‘:

There are things in the past that are like unexploded bombs that just lie in wait in the rubble, and then something happens to trigger them. And there are clearly verses in the Quran and stories that are told about Mohammed that are very like mines waiting to go off – Improvised Explosive Devices. And they can lie there maybe for centuries and then something happens to trigger them and you get this.

This’, of course, being the mass slaughter, murder, torture and the unimaginable barbarism which accompanies the Wahhabi quest to eradicate all decadence, heresy and idolatry. But President Trump pussyfoots around this fons et origo: “This is not a battle between different faiths, different sects, or different civilizations,” he (now) says. “This is a battle between barbaric criminals who seek to obliterate human life, and decent people of all religions who seek to protect it. This is a battle between Good and Evil.”

And while he’s dancing with a sword and participating in some strange occultic orb seance with the Saudi King, he does not utter a word against the Wahhabi sect, whose view of the Islamic faith and human civilization is the key to understanding this evil. Nor does he mention Saudi human rights abuses – you know, those men and women (and sometimes children) who are imprisoned, tortured, beheaded or flogged for blogging. Yet the President does identify this:

But no discussion of stamping out this threat would be complete without mentioning the government that gives terrorists all three – safe harbor, financial backing, and the social standing needed for recruitment. It is a regime that is responsible for so much instability in the region.

He then discloses: I am speaking of course of Iran.

Seriously, the leader of the free world visits Saudi Arabia – which not only harbours thousands of ‘Allahu Akbar’ jihadists but founds and finances extremist mosques all over the world for the greater glory of Allah – and he castigates Iran. How bold, principled and righteous of him. Saudi Arabia may not be united in its appreciation of Muhammed ibn Abd al-Wahhab, the founder of Saudi-Salafist Wahhabism, but there is no denying that Saudi Arabia leads the world on the export of terrorism, and that many Saudis applaud the fact that ISIS is fighting Iranian Shiite fire with Sunni fire.

Saudi Arabia manifests a certain theo-political schizophrenia: there is the 18th-century radical, extremist strand of Saudi identity which inclines toward Wahhabi takfir puritanism (which not only excommunicates the infidel, but chops of men’s hands, hangs raped women and throws gays of tall buildings), and then there is the 20th-century diplomatic, moderate Saudi identity, dripping in black gold and drowning in petrodollars (which is the one which successive US presidents [if not the whole Western world] believes to be progressive and ascendant). This is the one with which President Trump has just signed the biggest arms deal in history.

Unfortunately, he appears not to understand (or is afraid to articulate) that theological jihad and takfiri purification have been syncretised into a global movement of conservative Saudi Islamic devotion, the objective of which is world domination – a global caliphate.

You don’t usher in an era of world peace and religious harmony by helping to finance an ideology which believes Mohammed in 7th-century Medina was the best of times. And you can’t educate Muslims on the nature of good and evil when so many of the words which come out of your own mouth are base, ignorant, divisive and offensive. The medium is the message.

A ‘Real War for Oil’

Posted by addisethiopia on October 17, 2016

curseofoil

The brinkmanship in which President’s Obama and Putin are now engaged over Syria was entirely avoidable. It is the result of supremely misguided and – in many cases – entirely illegal policies implemented by our president and members of his administration, including his old secretary of state, Hillary Clinton.

Think back to the “Arab Spring.” The purpose of that movement was never to usher in democratic rule in formerly secular Arab dictatorships, despite the gushing of the major media over the “birth of freedom.”

The Arab Spring was the outward expression of an operation to replace secular dictatorships in the Middle East (primarily the Levant) with Islamic dictatorships.

All this was prelude to the creation of a new Islamic “caliphate,” which the progressives in the West mistakenly viewed as a means to bring the Middle East into parity, economically, with the rest of the world.

They envisioned a sort of Islamic version of the EU – one that would be able to deliver the jobs, economic growth, and stability that has been missing from the Middle East for…well, forever. This foolish worldview/mindset is the result of Marxists’ inability to assess the world through anything other than their “red-tinged” lenses.

To the Marxist, everything is economic. Oppression is the reason economies don’t prosper; lack of jobs and prospects form the genesis of terrorism, not the demand from Mohammed to place the entire world under the heel of Islam in the name of Allah. Religion is a distraction to the Marxist, not a principle strong enough to motivate such enduring violence in this modern age.

That ridiculous former spokes-teen for the State Department, Marie Harf, famously said the best way to defeat ISIS is to find jobs for them. Of course, she was roundly panned and mocked for the statement, with most assuming that it was made out of incompetence. It was not.

She inadvertently revealed the basis of Obama’s Middle East policy – if we help create an economic entity for Islam, then those in the Middle East will grow their economies, care for their people, and never again kill innocents.

Fast-forward to the present day. Syria had been slated to be the next regime to fall in the Arab Spring. Why? Because Assad controls a major seaport and pipeline route for both oil and natural gas shipments to Europe and beyond. It’s a route the Saudis want to control, and also a route the Iranians and Russia will not permit to fall into the hands of their economic energy rivals.

The Saudis want to dominate the shipment of energy resources to Europe via a U.S.-approved extension to Turkey of the existing “Arab Gas Pipeline” running from Egypt to Homs, in west-central Syria. Assad refused to permit this Saudi-/Qatari-backed extension in favor of the “Iran-Iraq-Syria pipeline” (colloquially dubbed the “Islamic Gas Pipeline”) supported by his ally and sponsor, Russia.

Combine these factors with the harsh reality that Putin needs a warm-weather port for oil transfers (which he has in Syria) and it’s not difficult to see why he will not permit Syria to fall.

The U.S., the Saudis, and others not only permitted, but also funded and protected the rise of ISIS so they could be deployed as a rogue agent able to attack Assad using methods civilized nations would never countenance but that are brutally effective among Islamic cultures. It’s a reprehensible and illegal strategy that amounts to letting “our side” deal in death and war crimes from a “deniable” distance.

Operating from the misguided idea that Islam seeks only to control its adherents’ own destiny in the Middle East, the wizards of smart in our government missed the reality that true Islam (which is what animates ISIS and the caliphate builders) recognizes no borders but its own, which Muslims will forever seek to expand, in obedience to the admonition of Mohammed.

In furtherance of this “holy obligation,” the “caliphate builders” want to re-establish control of the crescent known as the Levant, a crescent surrounding the Mediterranean Sea on the northern, southern and eastern sides.

Of course, that region encompasses Israel as well, so, understandably, there is a longstanding tension between Netanyahu, the Israeli leader, and Obama, who has all but declared Israel to be on its own if push comes to shove.

So now, in pursuit of a suicidal fantasy (attempting to carve out territory for, then standing up, an Islamic “trading partner” in the form of a caliphate dedicated to peaceful coexistence), we have come face to face with the proverbial rock, with the hard place at our back.

Putin has made clear that he will not stand down. Obama and Hillary are invested entirely in seeing their fantasy to fruition, and the powers that have financed them will not permit them to back down. Indeed, they are spurring them on under threat of exposing their perfidy and corruption to the world.

The Wikileaks releases may be prelude – warning, if you will – to Hillary and Obama that going wobbly now is unacceptable to their masters.

The Clinton Foundation is the likely conduit for much of the black money greasing the skids of the Arab Spring and the enabling of ISIS. The corrupt reality appears that, through its web of payoffs and shady “contributions,” much of the present administration is complicit through direct involvement or in turning a blind eye. This is why Hillary wasn’t prosecuted. The discovery phase alone would bring down our government.

So here we are…amid a rekindled Cold War that, absent a dramatic shift in policy, will become a shooting war sooner rather than later.

Once again, the corruption of a government grown too powerful, acting too far beyond the bounds of the Constitution, has led us to the brink of another, perhaps nation-ending, bloody conflict, with the potential (some would say, likelihood!) of spiraling into a third world war in very short order.

But, don’t let that worry you. I hear that Trump called someone fat.

Private Eye will have a field day when it comes to the tributes being paid to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia – it’ll be like beheading fish in a barrel (for adultery). Among the tributes paid to the people’s medieval theocrat was one by David Cameron, who said:

I am deeply saddened to hear of the death of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Abdullah bin Abd Al Aziz Al Saud.

“He will be remembered for his long years of service to the Kingdom, for his commitment to peace and for strengthening understanding between faiths.

“I sincerely hope that the long and deep ties between our two Kingdoms will continue and that we can continue to work together to strengthen peace and prosperity in the world.”

PS We’re having a special deal on Typhoons at the moment – 6 for 5. D.C.’

Ok, he didn’t say that last bit.

Then there was Angela Merkel, who said King Abdullah’s policies ‘brought him and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia respect and recognition. With wisdom, foresight and great personal dedication, he strove for a cautious modernization of his country and for dialogue between the Islamic world and the West.’ Considering women still aren’t allowed to drive, I think cautious is a bit of an understatement.

Likewise with the IMG’s Christine Lagarde, who said Saudi King Abdullah was a strong advocate of women ‘in a very discreet way’:

Indeed – very discreet! As for Tony Blair, who said that the king was a ‘staunch advocate of inter faith relations’, when they read that out in the office did all they burst out laughing like bad guys in 1980s action films? I believe in showing respect to the dead but do world leaders have to openly grovel to a country that exports Islamism around the world, whose ideology has poisoned countries like Pakistan and Indonesia, and which has funded Islamist murderers in Syria and Iraq. Abdullah’s kingdom is currently half-way through flogging a man to death for blogging and holds public beheadings for such crimes as witchcraft and homosexuality. So let’s not fall over ourselves here. The nicest thing that can be said about the Saudi royals is that the alternative would almost certainly be even more ghastly (an alternative created by the Saudis themselves, of course). Most craven of all is the decision by Westminster Abbey to fly a flag at half-mast, a church honouring the leader of a country where conversion to Christianity is a capital offence. It’s appropriate for the Foreign Office in Whitehall to mark the late king’s passing, but for a church to do so, when Saudi treats Christians so badly, is utterly pathetic. If the Saudis despise us for such craven behaviour, they are right to.

Kuwaiti Columnist: The Arabs Need to Have Large Portions of their Brains Examined

Posted by addisethiopia on December 22, 2014

In this video, Mr. Fouad Hashem also says: “in my view, on judgment Day, 90% on inhabitants will be Arabs and people who pretend to be pious Muslims.

Why Have The Islamic Countries Failed To Develop Even With Resources Like Oil, While Countries With No Resources Like Switzerland Have Flourished?

Answer by Ryan Lackey, Technology Entrepreneur,

It’s true. Outside of oil and gas projects and a few specific infrastructure projects (ports like Jebel Ali and airports like Dubai), far less real economic development has happened in the oil-rich parts of the Arab world than would be expected based on their great endowment of human and natural resources. The Islamic world isn’t monolithic, and it’s probably worthwhile to address relatively stable oil-rich states separately from Iraq, Iran, and Libya, again separately from other Islamic states without much oil separately from Asian Islamic countries like Malaysia and Indonesia. Let’s look specifically at the stable oil rich Arab Islamic states for now. I’m not an academic economist, political scientist, or cultural expert, but I lived in the region from 2004-2010, ran several businesses there, and have experience as a tech entrepreneur in the US and Europe, so I can comment directly on some of the challenges.

(There are some really interesting aspects of Iran, Pakistan, Egypt, Malaysia, and Indonesia which would be interesting to address separately — they demonstrate what happens when some of these trends are reversed and taken too far the other way. Those countries deserve another question.)

Overall, the local standard of living has improved dramatically — walking around Dubai or even a moderately sized city anywhere in the region shows a reasonable standard of living, especially compared to a few decades ago. All those shiny new condo buildings, huge hypermarkets, highways, etc.

However, it’s all consumption of energy wealth, not evidence of other productive economic activity. While the economic theory of comparative advantage says you maximize efficiency by going all-in on areas where you have the greatest comparative advantage, economic efficiency isn’t the ultimate goal of life, and there are serious consequences to blindly maximizing current economic efficiency to the exclusion of all else. There is a huge qualitative difference between an economy built on natural resource extraction, where the populace is a cost center, and an economy built on productive labor by the population, where increasing capabilities of the society leads to more wealth. If you look at western countries, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, and increasingly, China, they largely developed through manufacturing, initially low cost, low value add manufacturing, moving up the chain, and ended up with vibrant, well-educated, and diverse economies (even though Japan has demographic challenges, it will still be the #3 economy in the world in 2030). The alternative is an extractive economy like Argentina, which went from 10th in the world in 1930 to a basketcase for the past 80 years. That’s not to say that natural resource endowment hasn’t helped some countries (like the US), but natural resource economies in the absence of local value creation don’t tend to lead to well developed societies.

Wealth in a resource-based economy is distributed much more unequally and more inefficiently. It goes to a small number of people at the top, and they’re at the top due to tribal, family, or political connections, not due to skill or productivity. In a vibrant, competitive manufacturing economy, wealth tends to accrue to innovators and efficient operators, and someone with a new idea or better way of doing things has a chance to get to the top. Admittedly, this is imperfect even in the US, but it’s a better system than political patronage.

And, someday, the oil will run out (or won’t be burned because of global warming).

Outside simple products and services for local consumption (consumers spending income directly from energy related jobs, or from government redistribution of energy wealth), and development, funded by energy wealth, of local transportation, power, and water infrastructure (starting from a very low base), what local development there has happened has been economically inefficient — building empty skyscrapers in the desert. This has been largely directed by government, or influential families affiliated with government, and financed by huge capital flows from oil/gas and foreign investment from Russia, South Asia, and other parts of the Arab or Muslim world, and not the product of real free enterprise. Essentially, these investments don’t produce wealth; they’re just a way to store wealth generated elsewhere, as a form of regulatory arbitrage. Even crazier, most of the labor, including skilled labor, to build buildings and operate companies is imported, too — labor from China and Pakistan, accountants from the Philippines, advertising executives from the Levant, and engineers and architects from the UK and US.

Christians blood sold for $100,000 a bottle to Muslims in Saudi Arabia

My Note: It’s all clear by now, obviously, Saudi Arabia is that “woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus” (Revelation 17:6), and the kings of the earth are fornicating with her, trading with this harlot the wine (oil) for the obliteration of the saints

Reporters found themselves shocked when they attended a press conference in Vienna on 10th of December. Though they should be well informed on the persecution of Christians and, moreover, should inform their readers on this matter, they were caught by surprise. Sister Hatune, an Aramaic nun who fled Turkey in 1985, told what she had witnessed during her aid campaigns in the Middle East.

She revealed that Muslims are butchering Christians, draining their blood in bottles, and selling each bottle for $100,000 to Muslims in Saudi Arabia who take it to wash their hands in Christian blood, with the belief that it atones for their sins.

Sister Hatune was awarded the German Cross of Merit for her selfless commitment. Here is what she reports:

Saudi Arabia Pays $2 Million Bail in Missouri Sex Assault Case

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has posted $2 million bail for two men who were jailed in southwest Missouri in June after being charged in the kidnapping and sexual assault of a woman.

Rayan Mohammed A Alqabbaa, 21, and Ahmed Ayed A Alanazi, 27, are charged with kidnapping and forcible sodomy stemming from an alleged attack June 1 in Springfield. They each had been held on $1 million bail. The cash bond was wired to the Greene County Circuit Clerk’s Office on Tuesday, court records show.

The men, who were students at Missouri State University, must wear GPS ankle bracelets and their lawyers will keep their passports while they await trial, The Springfield News-Leader reported. They also can’t go to the nightclub where they met the woman and or any place where alcohol is the primary item served.

The men are scheduled for trial Feb. 3.

A cab driver called police because he was suspicious of how the men were treating the woman after he picked them up at Zan, a Springfield nightclub. Officers who found the woman at an apartment said she was partially clothed, crying, vomiting and asking for help, according to court documents. The woman later told police she had been abducted from Zan and someone might have put a drug in her drink, the documents said.

Is Egypt On The Verge Of Engineered Civil War?

Posted by addisethiopia on August 3, 2013

EgyptCivilWarFor thousands of years, Egypt has been one of the primary pillars of the Eastern world. When Egypt falls into turmoil, a shockwave is felt by all other nations that heralds great change and perhaps even great catastrophe. The West’s longtime interest in maintaining a solid foothold in Egypt is based on this reality; even in our modern age, when Egypt is in your corner riches can be accumulated, and power can be gathered.

Our government along with European governments have gone to incredible lengths in the region in order to ensure Egyptian compliance. In the 1940s and 1950s, Britain sought to dominate the country through force of arms. The U.S. set out to buy Egypt with massive foreign aid as well as military subsidies for leaders that held pro-western views. However, it appears that in the quest for “globalization”, western interests now see a destabilized and violent Egypt as more useful to the grand plan. The Egyptian revolution in 2011 which highlighted what many call the “Arab Spring” was heavily manipulated by U.S. and European governments, but such sociopolitical engineering is still limited to the whims of the target population.

No one can create a revolution or civil war out of thin air. Years or even decades of popular angst and anger has to be fostered. The citizenry must already be near the tipping point of mass dissent. Globalists do not make revolutions occur, they simply find a revolution already brewing, and then attempt to direct the preexisting energy of the populace towards an end result that benefits the establishment the most.

Egypt is now ripe for internal conflict far beyond civil disobedience into the realm of Syrian-style civil war, and I believe our government is well aware that such a calamity is brewing…

The ousting of President Hosni Mubarak was driven in part by a distaste amongst the general Egyptian public for the U.S. government’s influence over the political dichotomy of their society. U.S. funding had, in their view, given foundational support to Mubarak’s reign, which had resorted to police brutality, martial law, lack of free elections, crackdowns on free speech, and corruption in order to retain control. This coupled with high unemployment and price inflation inevitably led to citizen dissent, which saw the U.S. as a staunch ally of their abusive oligarchy.

Even after the revolution and the election of Mohamed Mursi (a primary supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood whose political platform calls for the removal of western influences within predominantly Islamic cultures), the U.S. government continued to send $1.6 billion in foreign aid to the region.

After the military overthrow of the elected Mursi in recent months generated in part by the Egyptian people’s anger over western influence, our government is STILL pushing for the continuance of American tax dollars to Egypt, and, still refuses to acknowledge that the latest transition of power is by every definition a “coup”.

Egypt: U.S. to carry on with operation Bright Star in Egypt

(Reuters)

The United States plans to hold a major military exercise in Egypt despite the ongoing tension between supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsi and those of the new rulers.

US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel told reporters on Wednesday that Operation Bright Star will take place in Egypt in mid-September. (Ethiopian New 2006 year’s days)

The announcement to continue a joint US-Egypt military exercise came a day after Egypt’s army-backed interim government ordered the police to sweep the streets of pro-Morsi protesters.

Observers say removing protesters from the streets of Cairo by force could set up a potentially bloody conflict with Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood.

But in the face of such a standoff, the US and Egyptian authorities have refused to suspend their joint military exercise.

“We’re planning on going ahead with it,” Hagel told reporters at a Pentagon news conference.

Operation Bright Star dates back to 1981, and has been a keystone of US-Egyptian military relations.

It began after the Camp David Peace Accords between Egypt and Israel.

The military exercises were canceled in 2011 because of the political turmoil that led to the ouster of Hosni Mubarak.

However, the exercises held every two years will not be cancelled this time around, despite the tensions in Egypt.

The US has also refrained from labelling removal of Morsi as a “coup,” because it would trigger a cut-off in aid and could require the withdrawal of military aids and funds to the Egyptian military, which runs up to $1.3 billion, annually.

Hagel has been in consistent contact with Egyptian army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sissi since the military ousted Mursi on July 3.

Although relations between both nations have been sustained despite the ousting of Morsi, the US has halted delivery of F-16 fighter jets to the African nation.

Arab Oil: The Rise and Demise of the Middle East?

PanicPickFor centuries, the Middle East has been the place that empires and world powers competed to control, for geographic, strategic and political reasons, as a source of fossil fuel and the presence of the Israeli state stability. But are we witnessing a historic change, as the global needs for resources have shifted?

For a very long time, the world relied on the Middle East — most notably, Arab Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia — for crude oil. Oil has been used as a “weapon” when it comes to foreign policy in many parts of the region, including Iraq. Hence it is shocking for oil-producing countries to learn that the United States’ ability to generate energy is in fact larger than expected.  The United States has grown oil production to its highest levels since 1990, after it was in decline for many years.  And it is now on the rise even more, due to discoveries of natural gas fields that are expected to cover and probably exceed local demand. This will allow the United States to become self-sufficient sooner than anticipated and make an enormous impact on the Arab world and its economic stability and security. The price per barrel of oil, now $107, will decline by half or more.

If my theory proves to be correct, the next five years will bring the historic collapse of oil prices in the Arab world and likely lead to changes of deep political dimensions.  As a result, the largest oil-producing countries such as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will lose the endowment and “special treatment” that Washington has granted in the past. Historically it has always been a top U.S. priority to keep the price of energy under control and oil flow unhindered. This policy has cost the United States dearly and forced it to tolerate the Saudi misbehavior. Although the Kingdom is the main sponsor and funding source for terrorism, including al Qaeda; and despite the fact that 15 hijackers of the September 11 attacks were Saudi citizens, Washington chose instead to wage two costly wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in retaliation, turning a blind eye to human rights violations in the Kingdom.

For those who are skeptical of this analysis, who believe that the Arab oil is indispensable and that the United States will not give up Gulf relations it has worked on improving for decades, I say that variables change. The same Middle East the United States is dealing with now may not exist in the next five years. Arab oil will still be important, but not be as strategically crucial as it has been for the past few centuries. And why is that? Here are some short-term and long-term reasons:

  • As the United States becomes energy self-sufficient, Arab oil will lose its strategic importance.
  • The havoc of the Arab Spring and the Islamist movement will continue to weaken states and create conflicting semi-states.
  • Security challenges in the region will spread, as it will be preoccupied with internal wars. Tribal or sectarian conflicts will alarm foreign investors.
  • Current governments or countries may disappear, once a new geographical map is drafted according to the changes that will occur.
  • Imminent climate and environmental changes and water scarcity will threaten the region with extinction.

In the midst of these momentous changes, which might be just around the corner — and while the world is busy making progress in energy research to cope with demand — the Arab world is cozily sleeping, unprepared and indifferent for what is coming, leaving its fate to be decided by the strongest.

The West’s Secret Pact to Get Mideast Oil

Posted by addisethiopia on February 3, 2013

“British Petroleum and The Redline Agreement”

foursomeIn this book, Edwin Black talked about the 1928 agreement signed by a consortium of oil companies that created a Western-controlled oil cartel in the Middle East which he argues is the root of decades-long struggle over power and energy supplies. He talked about the role of petroleum in the creation of Iran, Iraq, and other countries in the Middle East and in U.S. foreign policy.

BRITISH PETROLEUM and the REDLINE AGREEMENT is the third and latest entry in a series of books written by award-winning investigative journalist Edwin Black that tackles the issues surrounding automobiles, energy, and transportation. The previous two books are INTERNAL COMBUSTION and THE PLAN: HOW TO RESCUE SOCIETY THE DAY THE OIL STOPS. As with all of his other books (10 total), Black relies upon a crack research team to uncover and compile an exhaustive trove of heretofore unknown factual information and data.

The book opens with startling details of the most tragic global event to occur between the September 11th attacks and the Japanese Tsunami – the BP Oil Disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. It then reaches back to mid 19th century America to explain the founding of the oil industry, before moving half a world away to the troubled oil-rich vastness that became known as the Middle East. For the first time, it is possible to clearly understand the transformation of Mesopotamia into Iraq, Persia into Iran, and how a Hashemite tribal leader came to be installed as the King of Iraq, a land he had no right to rule.

BRITISH PETROLEUM and the REDLINE AGREEMENT exposes the hidden truths that led to two world wars, countless regional conflicts, millions of dead servicemen and civilians, economic depression, wide-spread health hazards and rampant global terrorism. Although I’m reluctant to describe a book of this magnitude as entertaining, it is certainly that. But more importantly, it is an instructive, fascinating account that is even more relevant today since the subject is at the heart of the current “greatest” financial depression, and because the next oil-induced world war would probably conclude with a cataclysmic exchange of nuclear weapons.

Watch this video for relevant questions and responses with Edwin Black

In his earlier book, “The War Against the Weak,” Edwin Black documents the collaboration of American corporate philanthropic organizations with Nazi Germany researchers to create a white, Nordic master race. Black has also documented the forceful sterilization of 60,000 Americans in genetic-control campaigns taking place as recently as 1900.

The journalist is an international investigative author of 80 award-winning editions in 14 languages in 65 countries. With more than one million books in print, his work focuses on genocide and hate, corporate criminality and corruption, governmental misconduct, academic fraud, philanthropic abuse, oil addiction, alternative energy and historical investigation. He has been interviewed on “Oprah,” NBC’s “Today” show, CNN’s “Wolf Blitzer Reports” and NBC’s “Dateline,” as well as leading networks in Europe and Latin America.

Libya and The UN Human Rights Council

Posted by addisethiopia on March 1, 2011

With the world no longer able to avert its eyes from the mass bloodshed in Libya, and as Moammar Gadhafi’s deadly degradation of his people reaches a new peak, there is more than enough blame to go around.

Primary responsibility certainly goes to Gadhafi and his regime, but the international community that for four decades legitimized and propped up one of the worst abusers of human rights cannot evade responsibility. At the apotheosis of international hypocrisy in supporting Gadhafi stands the United Nations Human Rights Council (with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights as its official secretariat).

With the UN Human Rights Council and other UN bodies now scrambling to position themselves on the winning side of history, with belated condemnations of violence and abuses in Libya, it would be unfortunate for the world to forget the sordid history of the central UN human rights body and its responsibility as an enabler and apologist for so many deadly dictatorships.

Astonishingly, in May 2010, in a secret ballot, Libya received a shocking 155 votes (out of 192 countries), and was elected to the UN Human Rights Council.

The world was certainly aware of the vast litany of domestic and international crimes committed by the Gadhafi regime. Even in the corridors of the UN there was occasional talk and concern about Libya’s human rights practices, such as extrajudicial and summary executions, systematic use of torture, and the imposition of the death penalty for political and economic offences.

The international community was also aware that Libyan agents in 1988 blew up a passenger airplane over Lockerbie, Scotland, killing 270 people, exploded a French airliner over the Sahara desert, killing 170, and in 1986 blew up the La Belle disco in Berlin, killing two Americans and wounding dozens. Gadhafi also financed and helped train dozens of terrorist organizations, supported Charles Taylor in the Liberian civil war that was responsible for more than 200,000 deaths, and backed Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, who brought hunger and devastation to that once relatively prosperous country.

after 2003 (when Gadhafi thought it prudent, in the wake of the ouster of Saddam Hussein, to give up his weapons of mass destruction program) embarked on a dangerously misguided policy of “constructive engagement,” where they thought they could combine profit and peace.

It was, however, the Human Rights Council that really burnished Libya’s international image in an Orwellian theatre of the absurd. For instance, at a council meeting in November 2010 for a universal periodic review of rights protection, country after country paid tribute to the Gadhafi regime’s performance on human rights.

Qatar expressed its appreciation for Libya’s human rights performance. The Syrian representative, without irony, spoke of the unique experience of democracy in Libya and the growth and development of human rights there. Saudi Arabia strongly praised Libya’s interest in “promoting and protecting human rights.” North Korea and Cuba glowingly endorsed Libya’s efforts and “significant achievements” in human rights.

Little wonder that with such fulsome praise and endorsements from the world’s leading human rights body, the Gadhafi regime rejected even moderate “suggestions” at improving its human rights record.

As in the case of other murderous dictatorships, the Gadhafi regime will come to an end, hopefully the political order will be fundamentally changed, and the long-suffering people of Libya will have their rights and dignity protected. What, however, will happen to the UN Human Rights Council (and its secretariat) that also bears such heavy responsibility for the horrors the people of Libya have had to endure?

LIBYA AND ITALY

Flush with petrodollars, Libya has been buying stakes in Italian companies, while Italian companies have clinched contracts for energy and infrastructure projects in the North African state. Libya supplies a quarter of Italy’s crude oil needs, and is also a key provider of gas.

Following is a list of Libya’s main Italian investments and Italian companies with investments in Libya.

ENI

Italy’s biggest oil and gas company has extensive operations in Libya, including long-term take-or-pay contracts. The company, which has operated in Libya since 1959, has said it plans to invest as much as $25 billion there. Libya accounts for about 13 percent of its entire production.

IMPREGILO

Italy’s biggest builder Impregilo was expected to be a big gainer from Berlusconi’s push to develop ties with Libya and is vying for a piece of a Libyan motorway project financed by Rome that is worth as much as 5 billion euros.Impregilo has also been cited in the past as a possible target for Libyan investment.

SAIPEM

A consortium led by oil services company Saipem, which is controlled by Eni, won a 835-million-euro contract for the first part of the Libyan motorway project. The consortium also includes engineering and construction firm Maire Tecnimont.

FINMECCANICA

Italian aerospace and defense company Finmeccanica SpA and Libya in 2009 agreed to cooperate on aerospace and other projects in the Middle East and Africa. Under the deal, a 50-50 joint venture between Finmeccanica and the Libya Africa Investment Portfolio will be created and act as the main vehicle for investments.

UNICREDIT

Libya’s stake in banking group UniCredit stands at a total 7.6 percent after the Libyan Investment Authority (LIA) acquired a 2.59 percent stake in Italy’s biggest lender. LIA also owns 3 percent of British publisher Pearson, which owns the Financial Times

FIAT

Libya came to the rescue of Fiat in 1977 at the invitation of the head of its founding family, Giovanni Agnelli, with the Libyan Arab Foreign Investment Company (Lafico) buying a stake of about 15 percent in what was then a struggling carmaker.

SOCCER

Lafico has 7.5 percent of the soccer club Juventus, which is controlled by the Agnellis. Gaddafi’s son, Al-Saadi Gaddafi, used to sit on the Juventus board and was even a player for Perugia and Udine. Libya at one stage considered bidding for the Roman club Lazio and also poured money into Triestina.

TEXTILES

Lafico holds 21.7 percent of Olcese, according to the textile company’s website.
