በአክሱም እና በመላዋ ትግራይ መላው ዓለም ስለሚናገርላቸው ጭፍጨፋዎችና ግፎች በመቆርቆርና በመቆጣት ከሁሉ ፈጥነው መዘገብና እውነቱን መናገር የሚገባቸው እንደ ኢትዮጵያን ሄራልድ የመሳሰሉ ጋዜጣዎች መሆን ነበረባቸው፤ ነገር ግን አለመታደል ሆኖና ይባስ ብለው ተገቢ ያልሆነ የሐሰት ዜና ያሰራጫሉ፤ እንደው ስለ አክሱም ጽዮን ዝምታቸውን ቢቀጥሉ ይሻላቸው ነበር እኮ።

Social Media Posts Falsely Claim that Usaid Found NO Evidence Oo a Massacre In Ethiopia’s Tigray Region

Two weeks after Amnesty International released an in-depth investigation concluding that hundreds of civilians were killed by Eritrean forces in the city of Axum in Ethiopia’s Tigray region, posts circulating on social media claimed that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) conducted its own investigation and found no evidence that the atrocities happened. This is false; USAID told AFP Fact Check that the organisation was not the source of these claims, which were also dismissed on social media.

“Some Good NEWS from USAID, #Axum massacre neither occurred nor substantiated (sic),” reads the caption from a Facebook post published on March 9, 2021.

The post, with more than 130 shares, includes a graphic of a news report by the Ethiopian Herald claiming USAID had found no evidence for the massacre following its own investigation.

Similar claims were shared on Facebook here and here. It was also retweeted hundreds of times on Twitter here and here.

However, the claims are false. USAID spokesman Ryan Essman told AFP Fact Check in an email on March 11, 2021, that the organisation was not the source of the quotes attributed to them in the article.

Essman pointed to two tweets from USAID’s official account that addressed the falsely-attributed statements.

“Contrary to a recent report in the Ethiopian Herald about a USAID investigation in Axum, USAID has neither conducted an investigation nor sent a team to investigate the reported events that took place in Axum,” reads one tweet, posted March 9, 2021.

Another tweet in the same thread said: “The U.S. government encourages independent investigations into all reported incidents of atrocities and remains committed to providing humanitarian assistance to all people affected by the ongoing conflicts in Tigray and other parts of the country.”

On March 1, 2021, USAID assembled a Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) to “assess the situation in Tigray, identify priority needs for the scale-up of relief efforts, and work with partners to provide urgently-needed assistance to conflict-affected populations across the region”.

AFP Fact Check contacted the Ethiopian Herald about the newspaper’s article but has yet to receive a response. This fact check will be updated if we receive a comment.

According to social media monitoring tool CrowdTangle, the article, published on March 9, 2021, has been shared on Facebook more than 1,100 times.

Axum massacre

The false claims surfaced shortly after Amnesty International released an in-depth investigation based on satellite imagery and eye-witness testimonies that concluded the killing of hundreds of civilians in Axum by Eritrean troops was “coordinated and systematic” and “may also constitute crimes against humanity”.

The report from Amnesty found that “between 19 and 28 November 2020, Eritrean troops operating in the Ethiopian city of Axum, Tigray, committed a series of human rights and humanitarian law violations, including killing hundreds of civilians”.

The organisation gathered testimonies from more than 240 people but was unable to independently verify the exact death toll. However, the report noted that corroborating testimonies and evidence indicated that hundreds died, as AFP reported.

The Least Free Countries On Earth – You Probably Will Not Guess #1

Access to the internet has largely led to the spread of information, cultures and ideas. The proliferation of the internet, as well as the hyper-connectivity of today’s society, often leads to the feeling that the world is getting smaller, that we’re largely interconnected, and that the online world is a free one.

While access to the internet, and the ability to navigate it freely, may sometimes seem like a certainty, less than one-fourth of the world’s internet users actually reside in countries where the internet is technically designated “free.” In fact, according to Freedom House’s 2017 Freedom on the Net report, online manipulation and disinformation tactics are on the rise, leading to a seventh consecutive year of overall decline in internet freedom across the globe.

Freedom House ranked 65 countries worldwide on their level of censorship. Countries were given an overall total score based on 21 questions and nearly 100 subquestions, divided into three categories: obstacles to access, limits on content and violations of user rights.

According to the Freedom House methodology, the top 10 most censored countries are:

In addition to an overall censorship score, Freedom House documented the prevalence of different levels of censorship used by each country to control their citizens’ access to content. Among the nine types of internet controls used were four types we outlined visually, including:

• Countries that block political, social or religious content: These countries block or filter domains, URLS or keywords with the goal of limiting access to specific content.

• Countries that block social media/communication apps: These countries either block entire social media/communication applications or have temporarily or permanently blocked the key functions of these applications with the goal of preventing communication and information sharing.

• Countries that arrest, detain or imprison bloggers or ICT users for posting political/social content: These countries have arrested, detained or imprisoned individuals as an act of retaliation for digital expression. (Brief detentions for interrogation are not reflected.)

• Countries that use pro-government commentators: There are strong indications that these countries employ paid individuals to manipulate the discussion online.

Other key takeaways from the study include:

• Almost half of the countries assessed—32 out of 65—have been on an overall decline in internet freedom since June 2016.

• China continued to be the worst abuser of internet freedom for a third consecutive year.

• The United States experienced a decline in internet freedom, falling two places from the fourth least censored country in 2016 to the sixth least censored country in 2017. The decline was largely due to the spread of disinformation and hyperpartisan content during the 2016 election, as well as the uptick in harassment and threats against journalists in the country.

• Thirteen countries improved in their internet freedom score, including Libya, Bangladesh, and Uzbekistan. However, broad shifts in policy across these countries were not seen.

CNN Just Got Hit by a Massive Truth Bomb–The Facts of Life Are Conservative

“Could be bullshit. I mean, it’s mostly bullshit right now.”

And there you have it, a CNN producer, caught on camera, frankly admitting that “fake news” isn’t some regrettable accident of the 24-hour news cycle.

“Fake news” is CNN’s entire business model. (The business model of quite a few other liberal MSM outlets too, if the tantalizing hints being dropped by James O’Keefe are to be believed…)

As a fellow human being I feel sorry for the poor guy caught on camera by Project Veritasadmitting this stuff — because he’s probably going to lose his job.

But as a fellow journalist I feel about as much sympathy for him as I do for all those idiot jihadists who go out to fight in Raqqa and Mosul, lured by the cool videos of the beards, black flags, and AKs with the wailing soundtrack. Did they seriously imagine when they joined ISIS/CNN that it was all just going to be about the glamour and the hot chicks and the purity of the noble cause?

And I’m really not being high minded here. It just seems to me that one of the most basic, entry-level precepts that any serious news organization ought to be observe – and that CNN most patently never has observed, or not for a very, very long time – is this:

Facts are sacred. The truth always makes the best story. You do not make shit up.

Not only ought this stuff to be obvious, but it ought to come instinctively. Isn’t the whole attraction of joining an unglamorous, overworked, underpaid trade like journalism that you want to discover the truth about the world: all the stuff that they would rather you didn’t know?

That’s certainly been my own experience in the last few years covering the climate change/enviro-lunacy beat. I’ve never much enjoyed all the flak I’ve got from the left-wing media; still less have I liked being rejected by so many friends. But the thing that has kept me going through the hard times is that I know I’m doing good and making a real difference: there are some devious bastards out there doing terrible stuff and I’m exposing their knavery and holding them to account.

For any self-respecting journalist, I’d call that “job done.”

Sometimes I get asked by people on the other side of the argument: “What if you’re wrong?”

Here’s the first thing I’ll do if I’m wrong about climate change. I’ll write a big piece explaining why I’m wrong. Then I’ll find someone who is prepared to pay me for writing the opposite of what I do now.

This isn’t because I’m a moral paragon. It’s because I’m lazy and because I prefer the easier life: writing journalism where you have to keep making up your “facts” is much, much harder than doing what I do now, which is basically, copying out true facts and then adding a few nice adjectives and thinking up a snarky final sentence.

That said, I would have to concede that this is much easier to do if you’re politically on the right rather than on the left.

Margaret Thatcher once said “The facts of life are conservative.” And as in so many things, she was absolutely spot on. This, as you can imagine, makes life very, very difficult for people in the overcrowded left-wing media. (It’s overcrowded because so many journalists think they’re left wing).

Every day, they wake up to a world where: Israel is the only functioning democracy in the Middle East with the best human rights record; socialism is failing everywhere it is being tried from Venezuela to North Korea; the worst, most fascistic acts of violence and intolerance are being committed by left-wing people calling themselves “anti-fascists”; Islam is not a “religion of peace”; Trump is doing a great job as president — way, way better than his predecessor Obama; man-made climate change is the biggest scam in the history of science, politics, or economics…

And somehow they’ve got to construct stories demonstrating the opposite because it’s what their dumb-assed audiences want to hear.

How, if you’re running a left-wing media organization, do you reconcile this yawning gulf between the facts on the ground and your preferred political narrative?

Simple: you remake the world so that black is white and white is black; you create your own facts.

The liberal media has achieved this in myriad ways: selective reporting; emotive storytelling where opinion masquerades as news; targeting and vicious demonizing of anyone on the other side of the argument; the extensive quotation and celebration of people on the left who have successfully infiltrated schools, universities, branches of government, and other institutions both public and private, so that their skewed version of events becomes the official narrative.

But perhaps the deadliest weapon in the liberal media’s armory is this: the continual pretence it makes that its news reporting is fair, balanced, and honest; that it is constantly striving after objective truth; that only its enemies in the malign right-wing press are guilty of biased journalism.

And for years organizations like CNN — not to mention the New York Times, the Washington Post and their various UK counterparts like the Guardian and the BBC — have been getting away with this because, as someone once said (maybe Churchill, maybe Lenin, maybe Mark Twain — no one is quite sure), “a lie is half way round the world before the truth has got his boots on.”

One of the malign consequences of this deliberate and cynical lie (which comes straight out of the Leninist playbook) is that conservative media outlets have been continually forced onto the back foot, forever having to defend themselves against the charge that they serve up politicised news designed to advance their right wing agenda.

Which they do, of course. Fox News does it. Breitbart does it. The Daily Caller does it. The Sun and the Daily Mail do it. Every one of them is undoubtedly guilty of serving up journalism with a right wing slant.

The key element missing from this particular calumny is that the left wing media demonstrates at least as much bias, if not more. It just won’t admit it.

Biased Daily Mail | Primitive Fake News Against Ethiopians

The following stories will show us how biased and hateful the sensationalist British media is towards Ethiopia and Ethiopians. The following are some of the reports published by the Daily Mail – only in the last couple of weeks – during a Spring of lazy journalism.

In every case, you’ll notice that the language and imagery used are primitive, monotonous and tiresome.

British media waited for days to reveal the identity of both the Manchester and London Islamic terrorists. Even Police don’t release the suspect’s names now. Astonishing, they’re still struggling to openly and truthfully talk about the danger and menace of Islam. Please read here about the hypocrisy of Daily Mail’s pharisee par-excellence, Pierce Morgan.

On the other hand – as the 2^nd example demonstrates — they immediately brought the name and origin of the Grenfell Tower resident whose fridge is reported to have started the tower block fire.

Perhaps they are just following a strict order from their deep-state masters:

a. This incident occurred last year. Only the court case was presented this week, nobody knows yet whether the accuser was right or wrong (I personally doubt her dubious allegation) But the Daily Mail reports as if the alleged rape took place this week.

b. The identity of the alleged rapists is revealed by the German Media as ERITREANS. And they’re indeed Eritreans. But the Daily Mail wrote, „Hungarian woman said ETHIOPIAN men attacked her… „

1,500 Complain To IPSO over Mail Online Story Naming Grenfell Tower Resident ‘whose Fridge Exploded’

Press regulator IPSO has received more than 1,500 complaints over a Mail Online story which names and pictures a Grenfell Tower resident whose fridge is reported to have started last week’s devastating London tower block fire.

Some 27,000 people have also signed an online petition urging the Daily Mail and The Sun to “take down all images, mentions of his name and all content linking him to the source of this fire immediately”.

The man has been widely named in other newspapers along with the theory that his fridge started the fire.

The petition says: “Regardless of where the fire began, fire safety experts have made it abundantly clear that a fire safe building would have been able to contain the fire and prevent it spreading. The rapid and unusual spread of the fire begs questions of the institutions responsible for the building, not the residents.”

The Mail Online story is headlined: “The man ‘whose faulty fridge started tower inferno’: Neighbor reveals how Ethiopian taxi driver raised the alarm when deadly blaze started in his fourth-floor kitchen.”

It was punished at 7.15am on Thursday 15 June, the day after the tragedy.

The Sun story was initially headlined: “First pictures of mini cab driver whose faulty fridge started Grenfell Tower fire”.

The headline was then changed to: “Owner of the Grenfell Tower flat where inferno started tells of agony as death toll is feared to top 100”.

The Sun story was published at 4pm on 15 June. There have been 13 complaints to IPSO about The Sun story.

A Mirror story published at around the same time as The Sun piece, covering similar ground, does not appear to have generated similar attention.

A guide on how to complain about The Sun and Mail Online articles has been circulating on Facebook.

It claims that reports saying the fridge of the man, a 41-year-old taxi driver, started the blaze are:

Inaccurate (because the fire investigation has not been completed)

Breach his privacy

Constitute harassment

And also amount to intrusion into grief or shock.

These all constitute alleged breaches of the Editors’ Code.

A spokesperson for Mail Online said: “In common with several other media outlets Mail Online identified where and how the Grenfell Tower fire started.

“It attached no blame whatsoever to the occupant of that flat and in fact details how he raised the alarm and alerted his neighbors personally.

“For the record Mail Online believes that, while much is still unclear, the blame for this tragedy lies squarely with those responsible for managing and renovating the tower and the authorities in charge of the policies and safety regulations within which they were operating.

“This has been and remains the focus of Mail Online’s extensive coverage from the outset.

“It didn’t seem to us that naming the resident would be seen as blaming him since we did not see how any reasonable person could possibly hold him responsible.”

A video released a day after the Islamic terror attacks in London show a CNN crew staging a scene with Muslims holding signs saying “ISIS Will Lose”.

The same crowd was used for the following AP post it appears – note the man with green around his neck in both pictures. This is how fake news spreads.

Wednesday on Newsmax TV’s “The Steve Malzberg Show,” conservative political commentator Pat Buchanan said White House chief strategist Steve Bannon was correct when he said the media was the opposition party. He added that just like they took down President Richard Nixon, they are attempting to “bring down” President Donald Trump.

Buchanan said, “There is a cultural left and a political left and a media if you will, are a conglomerate. It’s not a conspiracy but it is collusion, and they were determined to break and bring down Nixon from the day he was nominated. They were determined, tried to break, and they succeeded. From Florida, I flew out to Reno to entertain at the 2016 Nevada Women’s Expo. In between my shows, I made pit-stops in my hotel room. Folks, I could hardly believe what I was seeing. Every news TV channel I turned to was beating the crap out of Trump trying to brand him an abuser of women. Leaked Hillary emails have revealed that the mainstream media gets its marching orders from the Clinton campaign.

Thus, the media fix is in: portray Trump in a red hoodie with a pitchfork; portray wicked-crooked Hillary as angelic, wearing a pure white flowing gown. Never have I seen such a shock-and-awe orchestrated media campaign to demonize a candidate.

On the issue of “abuse of women”, if we had a fair and balanced mainstream media rather than operatives of the Clinton campaign, Hillary’s advisers would have begged her, “Pleeeeease Ma’am, don’t go there!!!” Hillary and Bill’s records of abusing women is horrific (assault, rape, Hillary humiliating a 12- year-old girl to get her rapist off and more). And yet, the Clintons arrogantly know they can get away with attempting to brand Trump an abuser of women while they belong in the Infamous Abusers of Women Hall of Shame.

Work for the Mainstream Media? You Should Kill Yourself

The American media is now no better than its predecessors at Pravda or the Nazi Ministry of Propaganda; reporters have become nothing but lying packs of jackals holding onto what perks they can and dutifully obeying the call to lick the peanut butter off of master’s nether-regions. They sit when they should hunt, roll over when they should bark, and play dead whenever tidbits of truth break the fence and coming roaring out of emails or foreign correspondence.

We live in an age where the Daily Show attempts(terribly might I add) to poke fun at Wikileaks, where CNN tells viewers it’s “illegal” to read the truth about their government, and even Bruce Springsteen gets wheeled out to try to convince people that this country isn’t a rigged, bullshit puppet show.

The sheer amount of shit being dumped down the throats of the American populace should inspire any human with blood still pumping through their veins to take flamethrowers to every government building and start hanging people from streetlights with their own intestines.

And yet….we don’t. The American people will line up on election day, just as they have every one before that, and take part in a grand collective illusion that they are helping guide history. They will smile as they are handed small stickers that say “I voted” and for the next 12 hours they’ll become amateur civics professors even though a hilarious amount of them don’t really know what the fuck their voting for anyway.

All those cool movies and ideologies assure us that if we just jam “the truth” into enough people’s faces they’ll suddenly wake up, detach, and reach some political Nirvana as if thousands of years of slavery are all just some big misunderstanding. That moment came and went with this election. What did “the people,” that weird herd everyone from Libertarians to Communists look to court do?

They go about their daily lives. But are they innocent? They aren’t oblivious, they’ve smelled something foul but for them it’s just too much trouble. They will serve, even gleefully so, as long as they get a big show every four years that makes them feel like they matter.

The Bourgeoisie, the powerful, know this. They exploit it.

BBC Scrubs ‘Ali’ From Munich Killer’s Name On TV, In Articles, AND On Social Media

The BBC has unilaterally chosen not to report the Munich attacker’s full name, in what appears to be an attempt to scrub any Muslim or Islamic heritage link to its coverage of the incident. 

Most sources at this point suggest that Ali David Sonboly – the Munich attacker who targeted children and killed nine yesterday – is not connected to radical Islam, but the BBC has gone to extraordinary lengths to try to keep any reference to his heritage out of its coverage, opting to name him only as “David Sonboly”.

Other news organisations including the Wall Street Journal, Independent, Daily Mail, and Sky News named the attacker as “Ali David Sonboly” or “David Ali Sonboly”. CNN even referred to him simply as “Ali Sonboly”.

But the BBC had different ideas, opting to refer to him in their online news coverage, national and international broadcast coverage, and on social media (above) as “David Sonboly”.

At 3pm UK time on Saturday, the BBC made reference to the killer as Ali Sonboly. Within one hour however, the BBC had changed its references to the now dead culprit to “David Sonboly”. At 6:31pm, the news bulletin on the BBC News Channel referred to him as “David Sonboly” though at 6:32pm their correspondent in Germany referred to him as “David Ali Sonboly”.

Sold Out: Talk Radio Host Grills Soledad O’Brien on Al Jazeera Funding

Hugh Hewitt had one question for Soledad O’Brien on Monday: Is she on the payroll of terror sponsors?

“Are you still a special correspondent for Al Jazeera?” Hewitt asked the veteran journalist on his radio program.

“I am,” O’Brien responded. “I run a production company, so I work with National Geographic, with Al Jazeera America, with CNN, with HBO, and a number of other companies.”

“Businessweek Today has a story on Qatar, which owns Al Jazeera, and the headline calls Qatar a patron of Islamists,” Hewitt continued. “It says that Qatar funds and arms Islamists fighting Syrian President Bashar Assad and bankrolling Hamas in the Gaza Strip. So honest question: How can you take money from them?”

O’Brien responded by defending Al Jazeera’s reporting, saying that she puts quality journalism above all.

“I know that the journalism can be good,” Hewitt pressed, “but if the funding for the journalism comes from a regime that is funding ISIS, does it creep you out?”

She wouldn’t give a straight answer.

“Well you know, I think again, at the end of the day, the thing that I think about is the journalism,” O’Brien said. “And I think those are very complicated issues. They’re not as straightforward as that.”

“Is there anything that would cause you to say if Qatar was shown to be funding ISIS, would you quit Al Jazeera?” Hewitt asked.

Again, she wouldn’t say.

“Very rarely do I operate in hypotheticals,” O’Brien responded, but said she would “take it under consideration.”

When Hewitt later asked if Qatar is funding Islamists, she replied that “it’s unclear to me.”

CNN Is Being Sued After Correspondent Arwa Damon Reportedly Bit an EMT While Drunk in Baghdad

That bites! CNN is being sued for more than $1 million by an EMT who claims one of the network’s correspondents bit her while drunk and seeking medical assistance, TMZ reports.

According to the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, EMT Tracy Lamar claims that Arwa Damon, a Beirut-based Senior International Correspondent, was in the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad last month when she became “seriously intoxicated” and “unruly and violent.”

After authorities arrived, Lamar was reportedly trying to help Damon when the correspondent bit her on the left arm. TMZ reports the suit claims that while being provided medical assistance, Damon declared she was a “major reporter for CNN.”

My Note: CNN’s ratings are down because nobody seems to trust them anymore. Unfortunately, the owners will not allow the station to tell the truth – they kill the truth. Just look at CNN international; the ads are louder, the journalists make too much unpleasant noise, no integrity, no honesty – THEY SIMPLY HAVE LITTLE TO TELL!

They parrot uncritically the New-World-Order controlled global mass media Propaganda. Almost all the journalists and presenters of CNN and co. who ‘have something to say’ are often partial, biased and opinionated, self-righteous, self-centered and selfish – in no way qualified to report or comment due to these facts.
