Texas Woman Poisoned by Touching Napkin Stuck in Car Door Handle | ‘ሚሚ’ ሐበሻ?

A Texas suspects she was poisoned by touching a napkin stuffed in her car’s door handle outside a Houston restaurant. Doctors agreed she had been poisoned but were unable to identify the poisonous material.

Erin Mims joined her husband at a Houston-area restaurant to celebrate her birthday last Tuesday afternoon. As she left the restaurant she noticed someone stuck a napkin in the door handle on the passenger side of her car, Fox 26 Houston’s Sherman Desselle reported.

She pulled the napkin out of the door and opened it to get in the car. Once inside she asked her husband if he stuck the napkin in the door — he said no.

Mims decided to go back into the restaurant and wash her hands. A few minutes later, she began to feel a tingling sensation in her arm.

“Maybe five minutes, my whole arm started tingling and feeling numb. I couldn’t breathe,” Mims told the Fox 26 reporter. “I started getting hot flashes, my chest was hurting, my heart was beating really fast.”

Mim’s husband quickly took her to a hospital where doctors raced to determine what substance had been used to create the numbness and other symptoms her body experienced. Her vital signs jumped all over the place, she explained.

“The doctor came in, and told me it wasn’t enough in my system to determine what it was, but said it was acute poisoning from an unknown substance,” the woman said. He told her he thought it might have been an attempt to kidnap her.

Houston Police Department officials took an assault report but told Fox 26 they had not seen any kind of similar complaint before. An official with the Drug Enforcement Administration also said they had never heard of this type of attack.

Fox 26 consulted with poison control expert Mark Winter from the Southeast Houston Poison Center. He said her symptoms could match up to hundreds of different toxins. He called her exposure “casual” or minimal, the report explains.

Mims told Fox 26 she decided to share her story on social media and then her post went viral. She said several people said they had similar situations. Fox 26 said they were unable to confirm the reports.

“All I could do was think about my babies. It was the scariest moment of my life,” says Mims.

ፑቲን ባለፈው የበጋ ወቅት ሩሲያውያንን እና ዩክሬናውያንን “አንድ ህዝብ” ሲሉ ተመሳሳይ ክርክር አቅርበው ነበር። የዩክሬን መሪዎችን ዩክሬኒዜሽንን፤ “ራሳቸውን እንደ ዩክሬን በማያዩት ዜጎች ላይ በመጫን ላይ ናቸው” ሲሉ ከሰዋቸዋል። የሩሲያው ፕሬዝዳንት ቦልሼቪኮች ለጋስ የሆነ “የግዛት ስጦታ” ያበረከቱት ምክንያቱም “ሀገራዊ መንግስታትን የሚያጠፋ የአለም አብዮት ህልም ስላላቸው ነበር” ብለዋል።

💭 Russian President Vladimir Putin: If Ukraine created by the Bolsheviks wants genuine de-communization, this will suit Russia. 👏👏👏

Russian President Vladimir Putin justified backing the separatist regions in conflict with Ukraine Monday in a speech containing claims that former Russian leaders Joseph Stalin and Vladimir Lenin wrongfully gave Ukraine the land.

In his speech, Putin announced Russia would recognize the independence of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic. The Russian president’s announcement comes after years of fighting in the Donbas region and while it’ll stoke fierce criticism from the west, Putin argued the area rightfully belongs to Russia.

While Putin didn’t outright declare war on Ukraine, he railed against the belief Ukraine was a separate entity from Russia. He said Ukraine was built by Russia and has little to no culture or identity outside of Russia.

“Let’s start with the fact that modern Ukraine was entirely created by Russia, more precisely, by the Bolshevik, communist Russia. This process began almost immediately after the 1917 revolution,” Putin said on Monday.

Putin added that Lenin, who rose to power after the downfall of the Romanov royal family, was the “author and creator” of Ukraine. He said Lenin made a “mistake” when the Bolsheviks gave land to Ukraine but claimed they did so to stay in power no matter what. He also blamed Stalin for transferring to Ukraine “some lands that previously belonged to Poland, Romania and Hungary.”

“And in 1954, for some reason, [former President Nikita] Khrushchev took Crimea from Russia and gave it to Ukraine. Actually, this is how the territory of Soviet Ukraine was formed,” Putin said.

Putin made a similar argument last summer when he called Russians and Ukrainians “one people.” He accused Ukrainian leaders of imposing Ukrainization on “those who did not see themselves as Ukrainian. The Russian president also said Bolsheviks bestowed generous “territorial gifts” because they “dreamt of a world revolution that would wipe out national states.”

“It is no longer important what exactly the idea of the Bolshevik leaders who were chopping the country into pieces was. We can disagree about minor details, background and logics behind certain decisions. One fact is crystal clear: Russia was robbed, indeed,” Putin wrote in the summer essay.

Ahead of his formal remarks on Monday, Putin told French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz of his intentions to support the independent states of Donetsk and Luhansk. Both European leaders expressed disappointment with the development, according to the Kremlin, and some officials fear it could be the catalyst for a large-scale war.

Additionally, Putin used the speech to accuse the United States of trying to contain Russia’s growth and just using Ukraine as an excuse to sanction Russia. He said he sees “no end” to the violence in the Donbas region and claimed the country tried to resolve the conflict, but everything was “done in vain.”

The country has been scarred by violence on all sides, but there may be much worse to come as Tigrayan civilians are targeted.

enocide happens when warning signs are not heeded. The world looks away, refusing to believe that mass ethnic killing is possible. We hope that the worst will be avoided. But to prevent genocide, we must sound the alarm before we arrive at certainty.

Rarely before has the danger of genocide been so clearly signalled in advance than in Ethiopia.

No side to this conflict is angelic. All sides in Ethiopia’s conflict have committed violations. But only one side has committed violations on a scale and nature that could credibly qualify as genocide – and that, we regret to say, is the coalition of the Ethiopian government, under the prime minister, Abiy Ahmed; the Amhara regional government; and the state of Eritrea.

Twice in the past year, the world has stood by while this coalition has perpetrated international crimes against civilians of Tigrayan identity – including murder, rape, torture and starvation.

We may now be facing a third atrocity, even larger and bloodier than what has gone before: a possible mass killing of interned civilians in Addis Ababa and elsewhere.

Five warning signs for mass, ethnically targeted violence are flashing red.

First, figures in the Ethiopian government and their allies have promoted hate speech against Tigrayan people as an ethnic group. They have stoked violence in language that identifies all Tigrayans as enemies. This hate speech is escalating – Tigrayans have been referred to as “cancer”, “weeds”, “rats” and “terrorists”.

Second, the government has mobilised the instruments for mass atrocity, in the form of militias and vigilante groups, organised on an ethnic basis and with an ethnic agenda. It has armed them and granted them impunity.

Third, the government is eliminating any middle ground. It has silenced independent and critical voices. It has prevented media access to Tigray, closed down or censored independent national journalists, and intimidated foreign reporters and their local counterparts. Individuals who try to protect Tigrayans are also attacked. People who try to remain out of politics are condemned as “fence-sitters”.

Fourth, the government has begun large-scale detention of Tigrayan civilians in areas it controls. One year ago it interned at least 15,000 ethnic Tigrayan members of the armed forces, whom, we understand, it continues to keep in detention camps. It has interned Tigrayan civilians in western Tigray. In recent weeks it has interned more than 30,000 ethnic Tigrayan civilians in Addis Ababa and unknown numbers elsewhere.

Fifth, the international community is divided, confused and indecisive. The government has protectors at the UN security council. The African Union listened deferentially to the government’s denials and obfuscations. The main European powers have dithered. The US has toned down its condemnations, perhaps for fear of being diplomatically isolated. It also has conflicting priorities, including trying to facilitate humanitarian assistance and initiate negotiations for a ceasefire and political settlement – an agenda that can preclude calling out one party to the conflict for atrocity crimes or genocide.

In the 1990s, after mass atrocities in former Yugoslavia and Rwanda, there was renewed interest in the obligation to prevent genocide enshrined in the 1948 genocide convention. There have now been more than two decades of policy and institutional reforms on atrocities prevention and response. There has been a litany of mea culpas, of enjoinders to greater political will, and calls for “never again”.

Crucial reports were written in the decades after Rwanda and the wars of Yugoslavia’s dissolution that shaped the debate and policy over the use of coercive measures in pursuit of peace, humanitarian action and the prevention of atrocities. At the United Nations, the African Union, international expert commissions, and under the leadership of powerful countries – reams of paper were dedicated to analysing the past and pledging to heed warning signs and prevent genocide.

Those reports all stressed that genocide is preventable – if the political will is there to act on warnings.

Today in Ethiopia, these warnings could not be more clear. The time to act is now – to call out what is happening and for the UN security council to use every measure at its disposal to give meaning to the cry of “never again” and prevent catastrophe.

በተለይም ኦሮሞው አፄ ምኒልክ ከኤዶማውያኑ እና እስማኤላውያኑ ጋር አብረውና በእነርሱም ተመርተው ከመቶ ሠላሳ ዓመታት በፊት በፈጠትሩት የከፋፍሎ ግዛ ሥርዓት ላልተፈጠሩበት የሁለተኛ ዜጋ ሰለባነት ተጋልጠው የቆዩት የሆኑት የጽዮን ልጆች ይህን የኦሮሞዎች ተንኮል እንደ አባቶቻቸው እንደ እነ አፄ ዮሐንስ አርቀው በማሰብ ለይተው በመጠቆም ኦሮሞዎችንና በእነርሱ እጅ የገቡትን አማራዎች (ኦሮማራዎች) በቆራጥነት ሊያንበረክኳቸው ይገባል። ቆርጠው ከተነሱ ደግሞ ማንም እንደማያቆማቸው እያየነው ነው። የማንንም እርዳታ ሳይዙ! በትንሹ ከምጽዋ እስከ ሐረር ቁልቢ ገብርኤል፣ ከጎንደር እስከ አዲስ አበባ/የረር ድረስ ያሉት ግዛቶች ሁሉ የአክሱማውያኑ ኢትዮጵያውያን ግዛቶች መሆናቸው በይፋ መነገርና በጽዮን ልጆች አመራርም ሥር መዋል ይኖርባቸዋል። በኢትዮጵያ ሌሎች ነገዶች፣ ብሔረሰቦችና ጎሣዎች እንዳይጠፉ የምንሻ ከሆነና ኢትዮጵያዊ የሆኑትን ሁሉንም ሕዝቦች ለማዳን ያለው አማራጭ ይህ ብቻ ነው፤ አለበለዚያ ሁሉም እርስበርስ ተላልቆ አገራችንን ልናጣት ነው።

የመንግስት ተቃዋሚ መሪውን ኦስማን ሶንኮን መታሰር ተከትሎ የሴኔጋል ተቃውሞ ክፉኛ ተባብሷል። ይህ ለሴኔጋል ያልተለመደ ነው።

ሴኔጋል አስራ አምስት ሚሊየን ነዋሪዎች ሲኖሯት ፺፭/95% ሙስሊም ፭/5% ክርስቲያኖች ናቸው። አንድ ተቃዋሚ ታሰረ ተብሎ በዩጋንዳ፣ በሴኔጋልና በሌሎች አፍሪቃ አገራት አመጽ ሲካሄድ ይታያል፤ በሃገራችን ግን የበሰሜኑ ጀነሳይድ እየተፈጸመ፣ በመሓል አገር ግድያዎች እየተካሄዱ፣ ተቃዋሚዎች እየተገደሉና እየታሠሩ ለሆዱ ብቻ የሚያስበው አማራውና ጋላማራው ጭጭ ብሎ ተኝቷል። የታሰረውን የሴኔጋሉን ተቃዋሚ ከጃዋር እና እስክንድር “መታሰር” ጋር እናነጻጽረው። ጃዋር እንኳን ለኦሮሙማ አጀንዳ ማስፈጸሚያ በስልት ነው እንጂ “የታሰረው” ትክክለኛ እስረኛ አይባልም፤ ለአመጽ እንደ ሮኬት የሚምዠገዠጉት ቄሮዎች የት አሉ? አዎ! ግራኝ አብዮት አህመድ፣ ጃዋር መሀመድ፣ ሽመልስ አብዲሳ እና ለማ መገርሳ የዘረጉላቸውን የዋቄዮ-አላህ ጂሃድ ፍኖተ ካርታ ተከትለው በተዋሕዷውያን ላይ ጭፍጨፋ በማድረግ ላይ ናቸው። በእነ እስክንድር ነጋ ጉዳይ ላይስ እንደ ሴኔጋሉ በወኔ አመጽ ሊቀሰቅሱ የሚሹ የአዲስ አበባ ነዋሪዎችና አማራዎች የት ጠፉ? አዎ! እነርሱም በዋቄዮ-አላህ-አቴቴ መንፈስ ቁጥጥር ሥር ስለሆኑ ወኔያቸው የሚቀሰቀሰው በተዋሕዶ ትግራዋያን ላይ ሲሆን ብቻ ነው። እስኪ እናስበው ባለፉት ሦስት ዓመታት ያ ሁሉ በታሪካችን ታይቶ የማይታወቅ ጉድ በሃገራችን ሲከሰት ጠቅላይ ሚንስትሩ መለስ ዜናዊ ቢሆን ኖሮ ምን ዓይነት ከባድ አመጽ ሊቀሰቀስ እንደሚችል። ግን ክአረመኔው ግራኝ አብዮት አህመድ አሊ ጋር ሲነጻጸር መለስ ዜናዊ መልአክ እንደነበር አሁን እያየነው ነው።
