💭 SpaceX’s Starlink, the satellite communications service started by billionaire Elon Musk, now has a Department of Defense contract to buy those satellite services for Ukraine, the Pentagon said on Thursday.

“We continue to work with a range of global partners to ensure Ukraine has the resilient satellite and communication capabilities they need. Satellite communications constitute a vital layer in Ukraine’s overall communications network and the department contracts with Starlink for services of this type,” the Pentagon said in a statement.

Starlink has been used by Ukrainian troops for a variety of efforts, including battlefield communications.

SpaceX, through private donations and under a separate contract with a U.S. foreign aid agency, has been providing Ukrainians and the country’s military with Starlink internet service, a fast-growing network of more than 4,000 satellites in low Earth orbit, since the beginning of the war in 2022.

The Pentagon contract is a boon for SpaceX after Musk, the company’s CEO, said in October it could not afford to indefinitely fund Starlink in Ukraine, an effort he said cost $20 million a month to maintain.

Russia has tried to cut off and jam internet services in Ukraine, including attempts to block Starlink in the region, though SpaceX has countered those attacks by hardening the service’s software.

The Pentagon did not disclose the terms of the contract, which Bloomberg reported earlier on Thursday, “for operational security reasons and due to the critical nature of these systems.”

Overview of the Situation

A new report from Amnesty International claims that Ethiopian authorities are ignoring violations of human rights in the Tigray region. Since the November 2, 2022, truce agreement, local authorities and Amhara forces in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region have persisted in forcibly expelling Tigrayans as part of an ethnic cleansing campaign in Western Tigray Zone, Human Rights Watch said today. Involved in serious rights violations in Western Tigray are commanders and officials, which the Ethiopian government should suspend, look into, and suitably prosecute.

Previously a report, which is based on interviews with more than 100 people, details the extrajudicial killings, torture, and arbitrary detentions that Ethiopian security forces have committed in Tigray since November 2020.

Since Tigray’s armed conflict began in November 2020, Amhara security forces and interim authorities have committed war crimes and crimes against humanity by ethnically cleansing Western Tigray’s Tigrayans. Human Rights Watch found that Col. Demeke Zewdu and Belay Ayalew, previously implicated in abuses, continue to arbitrarily detain, torture, and deport Tigrayans.

The Ethiopian government has denied any wrongdoing by security personnel in Tigray.

In a recent release by the Human right Watch it is said by the deputy African director at Human Rights Watch named, Laetitia Bader said “The November truce in northern Ethiopia has not brought about an end to the ethnic cleansing of Tigrayans in Western Tigray Zone,”

And she continued. “If the Ethiopian government is serious about ensuring justice for abuses, then it should stop opposing independent investigations into the atrocities in Western Tigray and hold abusive officials and commanders to account.”

Human Rights Abuses in Western Tigray Zone

Human rights violations are pervasive in Ethiopia’s Western Tigray Zone and frequently go unpunished by the state. Extrajudicial executions, arbitrary detentions and arrests, compelled relocations, and sexual assault are some of these violations.

There have been numerous reports of extrajudicial killings of civilians by Ethiopian security forces in the Western Tigray Zone. At least six people were killed in one incident when security forces opened fire on a crowd of protesters. Another incident involved security personnel shooting and killing a man who was attempting to escape.

In the Western Tigray Zone, arbitrary arrests and detentions are also frequent. In one instance, a man was taken into custody and held for more than two months before any charges were brought against him. In another instance, a woman was arbitrarily detained for three days without being given a reason and without being able to contact her family.

Additionally, forced evictions are occurring in the Western Tigray Zone. In one instance, Ethiopian security forces forcibly removed over 100 families from their homes. Before the eviction, the families received neither a warning nor an explanation, nor were they given access to alternate housing. The eviction caused many of the families to lose everything they owned.

In the Western Tigray Zone, sexual violence is also employed as a tool of repression. In one incident, an Ethiopian soldier raped a woman who was attempting to run away from him. Another incident involved five men dressed in uniforms from the military who gang-raped a woman.

Focus on Government Responsibility for Human Rights Abuses

People have charged the Ethiopian government with ignoring violations of human rights in the Tigray region. Numerous violations, such as arbitrary detentions, torture, and extrajudicial killings, have been documented by Human Rights Watch. The government has also been charged with destroying homes and property and forcibly displacing thousands of people.

Despite these accusations, the government has always denied any wrongdoing regarding human rights violations in Tigray. Officials have asserted that the situation in Tigray is “normal” and that a separate investigation into the allegations is not necessary.

This abdication of accountability is highly troubling. The Ethiopian government has a responsibility to defend its citizens from all kinds of wrongdoing, even when it comes from its security forces. The government is essentially granting its security forces carte blanche to continue abusing their authority by refusing to acknowledge the gravity of the accusations.

The Ethiopian government must answer to the international community for failing to uphold human rights in Tigray. Leaders from around the world should urge Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to allow an impartial investigation into the allegations of abuse and prosecute those responsible. Additionally, they ought to support civil society organizations that document abuses and work to defend the rights of victims politically and financially.

International Response to the Situation

Human rights violations have been alleged to have taken place by the Ethiopian government in the Tigray region, where a military operation is taking place. The United Nations has demanded that the allegations be the subject of an impartial investigation.

Numerous instances of extrajudicial executions, enforced disappearances, and sexual assault by Ethiopian security forces in the Tigray region have been documented by Human Rights Watch (HRW). Reports of human rights violations have also been sent to the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission.

Michelle Bachelet, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, has demanded an unbiased investigation into the claims of human rights violations in Tigray. She claimed that “credible but troubling information” about regional human rights abuses had been provided to her office.

On Tuesday, the UN Security Council is expected to discuss the situation in Tigray. Abiy Ahmed, the prime minister of Ethiopia, rejected calls for an impartial investigation and asserted that his government is capable of looking into any claims of wrongdoing by its security forces.

The Role of Local Communities in Achieving Justice

Local communities play a crucial role in achieving justice. It would be challenging to hold those accountable for violations of human rights without their assistance. The local population has played a significant role in drawing attention to the atrocities occurring in Tigray.

The Ethiopian government has been ignoring violations of human rights in the Tigray region for many years. These wrongdoings have included torture, arbitrary arrests, and forced evictions. Local communities have long been aware of these abuses, but due to government repression, they have been powerless to take action.

For the years of abuse they have endured, the people of Tigray are now calling for justice. They might finally be able to accomplish it with the assistance of the neighboring communities.

Recommendations

To the federal government of Ethiopia and regional authorities:

• Suspend civilian officials, including interim Amhara officials, and security force members from the Amhara Special Forces and Ethiopian federal forces who are suspected of committing serious abuses in the Western Tigray Zone while investigations are ongoing.

• As necessary, look into serious transgressions of humanitarian and human rights law, including those committed by the three individuals listed in the Human Rights Watch/Amnesty International report from April 2022: Colonel Demeke Zewdu, Commander Dejene Maru, and Belay Ayalew.

• Prosecute everyone accountable for grave violations of human rights in Western Tigray and elsewhere.

• Make it easier for independent human rights investigators, such as the International Commission of Human Rights Experts on Ethiopia, to visit Western Tigray.

• Ensure that Western Tigray and other conflict-affected areas are accessible to human rights monitors, such as the national Ethiopian Human Rights Commission and the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and that they are required to publicly report their findings regularly.

• Create an independent organization that can plan and oversee safe, voluntary, informed, and respectable returns in consultation with the displaced communities and pertinent UN agencies.

Ahead of the African Union

• Make sure that the AU Monitoring Mission, during its anticipated visit in June, publicly reports on protection issues, rights violations, and humanitarian access in Western Tigray.

To the allies of Ethiopia

• Take into consideration imposing targeted financial and visa sanctions on people connected to grave violations of human rights during the conflict in northern Ethiopia and after the cease-fire.

• Keep an eye on initiatives for justice and accountability in Ethiopia and push for more openness regarding official inquiries and efforts at accountability.

• Based on clear and specific indicators of accountability and justice for victims of serious abuses, evaluate re-engagement with the Ethiopian federal government.

• As long as thorough, impartial investigations into abuses committed during the conflict are needed, support the International Commission of Human Rights Experts on Ethiopia (ICHREE), including by renewing the commission’s mandate at the UN Human Rights Council in September.

• Encourage the development of independent screening processes to prevent the reintegration of federal, state, and local police and military personnel who have engaged in serious abuses.

Conclusion

It is obvious that the Ethiopian government has been ignoring human rights violations in the Tigray region, and this must change immediately. All people are entitled to the fundamental liberties of life, liberty, and personal security. Ethiopia must be held responsible for these violations, and we must demand that they stop right away. Additionally, the international community must use sanctions, if necessary, to put pressure on Ethiopia to uphold the rights of its citizens. Up until that time, it is our responsibility as individuals to speak up for those who are unable to defend themselves and make sure their voices are heard all over the world.

❖ ከጥፋት ማምለጥ ከቻሉት ቦታዎች አንዱ ዳባ ሰላማ መንደር ነው። በትግራይ ዶጉአ ተምቤን ወረዳ ውስጥ የሚገኝ መንደሩ ወደ ፭ሺህ / 5,000 የሚጠጉ ሰዎች የሚኖሩት አራት ሰፈሮችን ያቀፈ ነው። እነዚህ ሰፈሮች በአንደኛው የኢትዮጵያ ጥንታዊ ገዳማት ዙሪያ ተበታትነው ይገኛሉ። በገለልተኛ ፣ ከፍ ባለ ፣ ጠፍጣፋ ሸንተረር ላይ የሚገኝ ፣ ማህበረሰቡ በእርሻ ላይ በጣም ጥገኛ ነው።

❖ በዳባ ሰላማ የማህበረሰቡ የእህል መጋዘኖች እና ሌሎች ንብረቶች አልተዘረፉም፣ አልተቃጠሉም ወይም ሆን ተብሎ በአፈር ውስጥ በመዝለቅ ወይም በመደባለቅ እንደሌሎች ማህበረሰቦች አልተዘረፉም።

❖ እ.ኤ.አ. በ2020 ዓ.ም መገባደጃ ላይ የጦር ግንባር ወደ ዳባ ሰላማ ሲቃረብ የገበሬው አባወራዎች መኖሪያ ቤታቸውን ጥለው ሄዱ። ከብቶቻቸውን፣ ጠፍጣፋ ዳቦ እና የምግብ አቅርቦታቸውን ዱቄት፣ ቅመማ ቅመም፣ ቡና እና ጨው ጨምሮ ወደ ገደል እና ተራራ ሸሹ።

❖ ገበሬዎቹ ከመሄዳቸው በፊት ጉድጓዶችን በመሬት ውስጥ ቆፍረው የያዙትን የእህል ከረጢት በቤታቸው ውስጥ ደብቀዋል። በወታደሮች ለጭካኔ የተጋለጡ እንደሆኑ የሚታሰቡ አዛውንቶች በመንደሩ ውስጥ ያሉትን ቤቶች የመቆጣጠር ሃላፊነት ወስደዋል ።

❖ በመጨረሻም በክልሉ በተፈጠረው እገዳ ምክንያት ሸቀጦች ለመንደሩ ነዋሪዎች ውድ ነበሩ። በጣም በከፋ ደረጃ የበሬ መሸጫ ዋጋ ፶/50 ኪሎ ግራም እህል መግዛቱ አይቀርም። የገበያውን ዋጋ መግዛት የሚችሉት የተሻለ ኑሮ ያላቸው ነዋሪዎች ብቻ ናቸው።

❖ በመጨረሻ ግን ዳባ ሰላማ በሰው ሰራሽ ርሃብ የተጎዳችው በትግራይ ውስጥ ካሉ መንደሮች ያነሰ በመሆኑ እና በመሆኗ ነው። መንደሩ ጥሩ ኢኮኖሚያዊ ሁኔታ ነበረው፣ ገበሬዎች ማህበራዊ ካፒታል እና ማህበራዊ ትስስርን እንዲጠብቁ ያስችላቸዋል።

💭 እህ ህ ህ! የደበቋቸውና ያልተነገረላቸው ስንት መንደሮች ይኖሩ ይሆን? ስንቱን ንጹሕ አክሱም ኢትዮጵያዊ ካህን፣ ምዕመን፣ ይህ እርኩስ የዳግማዊ ምንሊክ ዲቃላ ትውልድ የኢትዮጵያና ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ እምነቷ መሠረት የሆኑትን ብርቅዬ ገዳማትና አብያተ ክርስቲያናት እንደ ዓይን ብሌኑ መጠበቅና መንከባከብ ሲገባው ባዕዳውያኑን የኢትዮጵያና ክርስትና ትሪካዊ ጠላቶች ጋብዘው በድሮንና መትረየስ ደበደቧቸው/አስደበደቧቸው።

እነዚህ አረመኔዎች! በክፉነታቸው ዓለምን በማስገረም ላይ ይገኛሉ። ዓለም፤ “ያውም ኢትዮጵያውያን!” በማለት ላይ ነው። እኛም፤ “እነዚህ እኮ ኢትዮጵያውያን አይደሉም፤ የኢትዮጵያ/የኤርትራ/የትግራይ/የአማራ/የኦሮሞ ቤተ ክህነት ተብየዎቹ በጭራሽ የአክሱማዊቷ ኢትዮጵያ ቤተ ክህነት አይደሉም። ሁሉም ተፈትነው ፈተናውን ወድቀዋል። እንዲያውም ዛሬ ‘ቤተ ክህነት’ የሚባል የፈሪሳውያን ስብስብ የሚያስፈልግበት ጊዜ አይደለም። ትክከለኛዎቹ የኢትዮጵያ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ ምዕመናን ደግሞ ዛሬ ቤተክህነት አያስፈልጋቸውም፤ ሰባኪ ተብዬ ወስላታ ግብዝንም የሚሰሙበት ጆሮ የላቸውምም። የኢትዮጵያና ቤተክርስቲያኗ ጠላቶች አረመኔ አህዛብ ጋላ-ኦሮሞዎች ናቸው። እግዚአብሔር በአግባቡ ያውቃቸዋል!” በማለት ለዓለም በማሳወቅ ላይ እንገኛለን።

እያየን አይደለም እንዴ፤ ሕዝባችን ከፍተኛ ስቃይና መከራ ላይ በተገኘባቸው ባለፉት ሦስት እና አማስት ዓመታት ዝም ጭጭ ብለው ከአረመኔው የጋላ-ኦሮሞ አገዛዝ ጎን በመሰለፍ ዝም ጭጭ ሲሉ የነበሩት ‘ካህናት’፣ መምህራን፣ ቀሳውስትና ልሂቃን ሁሉ አሁን ከተደበቀቡት ዋሻ ብቅ ብለው የመግለጫና ቃለ መጠይቅ ጋጋታውን በየቀኑ በመስጠት ላይ ይገኛሉ። እስኪ ዲቃላዎቹን እነ ‘ሊቀ ትጉሃን’ ደረጀ፣ ዘወይንዬ፣ ‘ሊቀ ትጉሃን’ ገብረ መስቀል፣ ዶ/ር ፋንታሁን ዋቄ፣ ዶ/ር ዘበነ ለማ፣’አቡነ’ ናትናኤል ወዘተ የተሰኙትን አጭበርባሪ የኦሮሙማ ካድሬዎችን እንታዘባቸው። አክሱም ጽዮን ስትጨፈጨፍ አላነቡም፣ ትንፍሽ አላሉም። አሁን ሁለት ሚሊየን የአክሱማዊቷ ኢትዮጵያ ልጆች ካለቁ በኋላ በድጋሚ ወጥተው እንደለመዱት ሞኙን ተከታያቸውን “በማሳመንና በማደናገር” ነፍሱን ለመስረቅ በመትጋት ላይ ናቸው። ሊቀ ትጉሃን ገብረ መስቀል ተብዬውና ፍዬሉ ዘመድኩን በቀለማ ልክ አክሱም ጽዮን ስትጨፈጨፍ ሰሞን፤ መጽሐፍ ቅዱስን እየጠቀሱ፤ “ከሃጢዓታቸው የተነሳ ነው፣ በሰሜኑ የትግራይ ሰዎች ላይ ይህ ሊፈጸም ግድ ነው…ቅብርጥሴ” እያሉ በቁስል ላይ አህዛባዊ ጥላቻን ሲነዙ ነበር። እስኪ አሁን በአማራ ክልል እየተካሄደ ስላለው የጋላ-ኦሮሞ የወረራ ጭፍጨፋ ተመሳሳይ ነገር ይበሉ?! በጭራሽ አያደርጓትም፤ ወራዶች!

በትናንትናው ዕለት ደግሞ ጋላ-ኦሮሞዎቹና ኦሮማራዎቹ ‘አቡነ’ ናትናኤል የተባሉትን አደገኛ የጋላ-ኦሮሞ ተወካይ፣ ቀደም ሲል ደግሞ አሁን እንደምጠረጥረው ለኦሮትግሬ የሚሠሩትን አባ ሰረቀብርሃን የተሰኙትን ግብዝ ሆን ብለው በተከታታይ ለቃለ መጠይቅ በማቅረብ የተረፈውን በግ አታልለው ለማስለቀስ ሞክረዋል። በተደጋጋሚ ተናግሪያለሁ፤ ሁሉም ‘አሳቢና ተቆርቋሪ መስለው፤ እያሳመኑና እያደናገሩ የሚሰሩት ጋላ ኦሮሞን ለማንገስ ነው።

ወንደም ቴዎድሮስ ጸጋዬ ከእባቦቹ ኦሮሙማዎች ከኤርሚያስ ለገሰ እና ሞገስ ጋር መስራቱን አቁም እልሃለሁ። ሕወሓቶች በተለየየ መንገድ ገንዘብ እየከፈሉህም ከሆነም ገንዘቡን መልሰህ ንሰሐ ግባ። ይህ መንፈሳዊ ውጊያ ነው፤ ዋ! እላለሁ።

❖ በተረፈ ግን፤ የአብርሐም፣ የይስሐቅና የያዕቆብ አምላክ፤ “ለሁሉም ነገር ጊዜ አለው!” ይለናል። አዎ! ይህ ወቅት ግን የሰላም ወቅት አይደለም፤ የእውነት፣ የፍትሕና የበቀል ወቅት እንጂ።

አይይይይ ሕወሓት! አይይይ ሻዕቢያ! አይይይ አማራ! አይይይ ጋላ-ኦሮሞ! እንግዲህ የበቀል ጊዜ ደርሷል፣ የትም አታመልጧትም!አይይ ኢሳያስ አፈቆርኪ/አብዱላ-ሃሰን! አይይ ግራኝ አህመድ አሊ! አይይ ጌታቸው ረዳ፣ ደብረ ሲዖል! አይይይ ጂኒ ጁላ! አይይ አገኘሁ ተሻገር! አይይይ ብርሃኑ ነጋ! አይይይ ጂኒ ጃዋር መሀመድ! እግዚአብሔር አምላክ አንድ በአንድ ይበቀላችኋል! በተለይ ጋላ-ኦሮሞንና አጋሮቹን በአባቶቻችንና በእናቶቻችን ስም እስከ መጨረሻው እንበቀላቸው ዘንድ ግድ ነው! በቃ! የመቶ ሰላሳ ዓመት-ሰቆቃ በቃ! በቃ! በቃ!

The war waged by the Ethiopian Federal Government and Eritrea against the Tigray regional government, which lasted from November 2020 to November 2022, caused massive devastation. Multiple war crimes were reported and there were claims of genocidal intent. A starvation campaign led to the death of at least 300,000 civilian victims.

One of the places that managed to escape the destruction was the Dabba Selama village. Located in Tigray’s Dogu’a Tembien district, the village is composed of four settlements, home to about 5,000 people. These settlements are scattered around one of Ethiopia’s oldest monasteries. Located on an isolated, elevated, flat ridge, the community is highly dependent on agriculture.

We’ve published a book on the Dogu’a Tembien district, based on 25 years of geographical research in the district. In January 2023, after the war had ended, we returned to the district to continue research on the society and environment. We focused on 10 villages in Dogu’a Tembien, one of which is Dabba Selama.

The residents of Dabba Selama consider themselves lucky. Other villages became targets for military attacks. In four of the 10 villages, massacres of civilians occurred. Women and girls were victims of sexual violence perpetrated by military forces. Homes, schools and farm products were deliberately destroyed.

Even though the war front moved past Dabba Selama several times, the community suffered less than the other villages we studied, thanks to their geographical isolation, strong community bonds and agriculturally productive landscape.

During our interviews we understood that there was no warfare in the village itself and no direct civilian casualties. Unlike the nine other villages we visited, the interviewees in Dabba Selama did not mention children or elders dying from hunger.

Because the village and monastery are in rugged terrain, some 20km from the nearest road, Ethiopian and Eritrean armies marched through the settlements just once and did not stop in it. The community’s grain stores and other assets weren’t looted, burned, or purposefully ruined by soaking or admixing of soil, as in other communities. The farmers had food even during the critical period. Many of them could afford to buy some (expensive) additional food or medications.

It is also fortunate that the one time the soldiers crossed the village, they didn’t notice the monastery beyond an overhanging cliff and nobody informed them of its existence. Otherwise, they might have invaded it. The armies believed that the Tigray leadership was hiding in caves and other inhospitable locations. They also set out to destroy Tigray’s historical sites.

Strong social bonds

Those interviewed said that, despite the suffering, people helped each other. This contrasts with other villages we visited where the big complaint was that social bonds had become much weaker.

In Dabba Selama, community bonds were strong even before the war, like most remote villages. People typically helped each other with cereals or money, and this continued. The community – including village leaders – shared what they had, so people survived. In other villages, leaders sometimes diverted aid or supplies to their family members.

Food stocks

When the war broke out, the village had some food in stock. The farmlands in Dabba Selama, especially those on the high plain, are relatively productive and farmers had cereals in their granaries.

Not far from the village, at the foot of steep slopes, there are springs. The farmers use these for small-scale irrigation. With its rugged terrain, good rainfall and warm temperatures, the area is also suitable for keeping livestock.

Many farmers from the village traded fruit, selling it at nearby markets when there was no active fighting.

Ability to hide

At the end of 2020, when the war front came close to Dabba Selama, the farm households abandoned their homesteads. They fled to the gorges and mountains with their livestock, flatbread and food supplies, including flour, spices, coffee and salt.

Before leaving, the farmers dug pits in the ground and hid the grain bags they had in their houses. Old men, who are traditionally perceived to be less exposed to brutalities by the military, took the responsibility to supervise the houses in the village. Fortunately the fighting did not come close. In nearby villages, this strategy went wrong and it’s reported that elders were massacred, but not so in Dabba Selama.

Tough times

This is not to say the residents of Dabba Selama did not endure hardship. The community struggled to produce food. Many farmlands in Dabba Selama were not cultivated on time in 2021 and 2022 due to the war. It was difficult to get seeds and fertiliser.

Farmers mainly sowed teff grass (Eragrostis tef) in the absence of other seeds. Compared to other crops, teff gives lower yields per farmland area.

The seed shortage was partly due to hunger. Many households had to eat the grain seeds they had conserved from previous harvests.

Crops were poorly managed because of the war, and the yield of 2022 was worse than any year at peace time, given the total absence of agricultural inputs.

In addition, reforestation areas and natural forests were affected by wood harvesting and charcoal preparation made necessary by poverty. Over the 30 years before the war, a strong effort had been made to regreen Tigray as part of sustainable land management.

Finally, owing to the blockade on the region, commodities were expensive for the villagers. At the worst point, the sale price of an ox would barely purchase 50kg of grain. Only the better-off residents could afford the market prices.

Natural and social capital

Ultimately though, Dabba Selama has suffered less from the human-made starvation than other villages in Tigray due to its isolation and its location. The village had a good economic situation, allowing farmers to maintain their social capital and social bonds.

Axum, Ethiopia: ‘Ghosts’ at Emperor Kaleb’s Tomb?

የአፄ ካሌብ መቃብር፣ አክሱም | ሰውዬው በአፄ ካሌብ መቃብር ‘መናፍስት አየሁ’ ይለናል

❖❖❖ እንኳን ለታላቁ መናኝ ንጉሥ ቅዱስ አፄ ካሌብ ዓመታዊ የዕረፍት በዓል/ መታሰቢያ አደረሰን።❖❖❖

👑 ቅዱሱን ንጉሥ አፄ ካሌብን በዓለም ያሉ አብያተ ክርስቲያናት በትልቁ ያከብሩታል። ኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ ግን አክሱም አካባቢ ካልሆነ ከነ ስም አጠራሩ እንኳ እየተዘነጋ ይመስላል።

ነገር ግን ጀግንነቱ፣ ውለታው፣ ምናኔውና ቅድስናው የማይረሳ ነውና እንኳን በእምነት የሚመስሉን ይቅርና የማይመስሉን ምሥራቅ ኦርቶዶክሶችና ካቶሊኮች ዓመታዊ በዓሉን በወርኀ ጥቅምት ያከብራሉ።

ከአክሱም ነገሥታት በኃይሉም ሆነ በሃይማኖታዊ ቅድስናው አፄ ካሌብ ዋናው ነው። ቅዱሱ የነገሠው በ485 ዓ/ም አካባቢ ሲሆን እስከ 515 ዓ/ም ድረስ በዙፋኑ ላይ ቆይቷል። ከመልካም ትዳሩ አፄ ገብረ መስቀልን ጨምሮ ልጆችን ወልዷል።

😇 ስለ ቅዱስ አፄ ካሌብ የሚከተሉትን ነጥቦች ብቻ እናንሳ፦

• ፩ኛ. በንግሥና ዙፋን ከመቀመጡ በፊት የሚገባውን መንፈሳዊ ትምሕርት ጠንቅቆ ተምሯል።
• ፪ኛ.ሃይማኖቱ የጠራና እጅግ የሚደነቅ ነበር። በእርሱ ዘመን ሃይማኖት ለነገሥታቱ የፖለቲካ ማስፈጸሚያ ነበር። እርሱ ግን እግዚአብሔርን በፍጹም ልቡ አምልኳል።
• ፫ኛ.ለእመቤታችንና ለቸር ልጇ የነበረው ጥልቅ ፍቅር የተገለጠና የሚያስቀና ነበር።
• ፬ኛ.ገና በዙፋኑ ሳለ ጸሎትን ያዘወትር ነበር።
• ፭ኛ.ዛሬም ድረስ ሁሉም ክርስቲያኖች የማይረሱትን መንፈሳዊ ቅንዓትን አሳይቷል።

ይሕስ እንደ ምን ነው ቢሉ:-

*በወቅቱ ዐመፀኛው የአይሁድ መሪ ፊንሐስ በሃገረ ናግራን(የዛሬዋ የመን) ውስጥ የነበሩ ክርስቲያኖችን ክርስቶስን ካዱ በሚል ጨፈጨፋቸው። ከተማዋንም ለአርባ ቀናት በእሳት አነደዳት። ዜናው በመላው ዓለም ሲሰማ በርካቶቹ ቢያዝኑም የተረፉትን ለመታደግ የሞከረ አልነበረም።

😇 ቅዱስ አፄ ካሌብ ግን የሆነውን ሲሰማ ወደ ቤተ ክርስቲያን ውስጥ ገብቶ በግንባሩ ሰገደ። ወደ ፈጣሪም ጸለየ:- “ጌታዬ ሆይ! የክርስቲያኖችን ደም እመልስ ዘንድ እርዳኝ? እኔ በጦሬ ብዛት አልመካም። እኔ ተሸንፌ ክርስትና ከሚናቅ እዚሁ ግደለኝ” ብሎ በበርሃ ላሉ መነኮሳት እንዲጸልዩ ላከባቸው።

ጊዜ ሳያጠፋ በመርከብና በፈረስ : በበቅሎና በግመል ናግራን (የመን) ደረሰ። ፊንሐስን ገድሎ ሠራዊቱንም ማርኮ ክርስቲያኖችን ነጻ አወጣ። ደምና እንባቸውንም አበሰ። አብያተ መቅደሶችን አንጾላቸው ወደ ኢትዮጵያ ተመለሰ።

ወዲያው እንደተመለሰ ወደ አክሱም ጽዮን ገብቶ “ጌታየ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ ስላደረክልኝ የምሰጥህ ሰውነቴን እንጂ ሐብቴን አይደለም” ብሎ መንግስቱን ለልጁ ገብረ መስቀል አውርሶ ከዙፋኑ ወጣ። የወርቅ አክሊሉን ወደ ኢየሩሳሌም ልኮ እርሱ በአባ ጰንጠሌዎን እጅ መንኩሶ መነነ።

ከዚሕች ዓለም ከአንዲት ረዋት(ኩባያ)፣ ከአንዲት ሰሌንና ከአንዲት ቀሚስ በቀር የወሰደው አልነበረም። ከዚያም በበዓቱ ውስጥ በጾምና በጸሎት ተወስኖ አንድም ሰው ሳያይ በሰባ ዓመቱ (በ፭፻፳፱/529 ዓ/ም) ዐርፏል። 😇 ጌታችንም በሰማይ ክብርን አጐናጽፎታል።

ንጉሥ ካሌብን ሳስብ ዛሬ በመላዋ ሃገራችን ሥልጣኑን ይዘው ኢትዮጵያን እየበደሏት ያሉት የኦነግ/ብልጽግና፣ የሻዕቢያ፣ የሕወሓት፣ የብአዴን፣ የኢዜማ፣ የአብን መስለ ወንጀለኛ ፓርቲዎች መሪዎች በደብረ ዘይት ሆራ ሐይቅ የተፈለፈሉ ተባዮች/ቁንጫዎች ሆነው ነው የታዩኝ።

እንደ ንጉሥ ካሌብ ያለ ምርጥ የዓለም መሪ ለሃገራችን ያምጣልን። ለቅዱስ አፄ ካሌብ የተለመነ አምላክ ለእኛም ይለመነን። በጻድቁም ጸሎት ከመከራ ይሠውረን።

The Kingdom of Axum flourished for many years with a succession of powerful rulers, but one stood out as being the most important.

Axum at the time was enjoying the wealth and business of Christian Byzantines that were heavily engaged in trade within their region.

King Kaleb of Axum (520 c) also known by his throne name Ella Asbeha/Atsbeha is well known for his invasion and conquest of Yemen in southern Arabia.

King Kaleb is believed to have launched an attack against the Jewish King Yusuf Asar Yathar because of his ruthless persecution of Christians.

King Kaleb is said to have rented about 60 ships from ports ran by the Byzantines in the Erythrean Sea, or the modern day Red Sea.

His forces were in the range of 100,000 to 120,000 which he sent to combat the king in Yemen.

After a bloody war that tested both sides to the extreme, King Kaleb emerged victorious and proceeded to kill King Yusuf.

In his place he appointed a Christian called Sumuafa Ashawa as his viceroy.

Due to his willingness to protect Christians, the 16th century Cardinal Cesare Baronio named him Saint Elesbaan.

He was also referred to by the Greeks as Hellesthaeus or “the one who brought about the morning or the one who collects tribute”.

Some historians believe that the Axumite kingdom over extended itself by conquering Yemen, and it eventually led to their demise.

The Freedom of The Enemy Will Be Granted | የጠላት ነፃነት ይሰጣል

❖ መንፈሳዊ ጦርነት ሊሟላ አይችልም – ለአባታችን ቃለ ሕይወት ያሰማልንና፤ አባ ማር ማሪ አማኑኤል እንዲህ በማለት ይመክሩናል፤

የዘመናችን ልዕለ ኃያል የሆነች ሀገር መንፈሳዊውን ጦርነትን ተዋግታ ማሸነፍ አትችልም። ከኑክሌር የጦር መሳሪዎች መንፈሳዊውን ውጊያ ማሸነፍ አይችሉም። በጭራሽ!

አያችሁ መንፈሳዊው ጦርነት ፍፁም ነው፣ የተለየ ደረጃ ነው፣ በጣም ኃይለኛ ነው፣ በጣምም ግዙፍ ነው። እና ጌታ አሁን ልቦናችሁን ለአፍታ ከከፍተ እመኑኝ፤ አሁን የሰማይ መላእክት ሲጋደሉልን ማየት ትችላላችሁ።

መላእክቱ ጠላትን እና ርኩስ መናፍስቱን ሁሉ ያለማቋረጥ እየተዋጓቸው ነው። በቀላሉ እንድንሄድ እና እንድንመጣ እና በነጻነት እንድንጓዝ፣ መኪና ውስጥ እንድትገቡ፤ ታውቃላችሁ፤ ወደ ሥራ ወደ ትምህርት ቤት፣ ወደ ቤተ ክርስቲያን፣ ወደ ገባያ በሰላም ለመሄድ የቻለነው በመልአክቱ እርዳታ ነው።

የምታደርጉትን ሁሉ አስታውሱ። ጌታችን ሁሌ እየጠበቃችሁ ነው። ለዚህም ነው ኑሮ በጣም ቀላል የሆነው። ግን ጌታ እጁን የሚያነሳበትና ለዲያብሎስ ጠላት ሙሉ ነፃነት የሚሰጥበት ቀን ይመጣል።

አሁን ጠላት ሙሉ ነፃነት የለውም። ሙሉ ነፃነት ሲኖረው ምን እንደሚሰራ ተመልከቱ፤ በዓለም ውስጥ ብቻ ሳይሆን ቤተ ክርስቲያን ውስጥም ሳይቀር ምን እንደሚሰራ ተመልከቱ፤ ቤተ ክርስቲያን ከፋፍሏታል።

በክርስቶስ ወንድማማቾች መሆን ያለባቸውን ቤተ ክርስቲያን እና የቤተ ክርስቲያን መሪዎችን እርስበርስ እንዲጠላሉ አድርጓቸዋል።

በጣም የማይታመን ነገር ነው!

ግን ይህ የምታዩት ጠላት ሙሉ የማጥፊያ ነፃነት ገና አልተሰጠውም። ሆኖም ግን እኛ ትግል ላይ ነን።

አንድ ጉድጓድ ውስጥ ወድቀን እንወጣለን፣ ከዚያም ወደ ትልቅ እና ጥልቅ መውደቁን እንቀጥልበታለን።

እና በቃን ዳግም ሃጢዓት አንሰራም እንላለን ፥ ግን ከዚያ የከፋ ሃጢዓት እንሰራለን፣ ከእንግዲህ አልመለስም እንላለን፤ ግን ከዚህ የከፋ መጥፎ ነገር እናደርጋለን፣ ዕፅ አልወስድም እንላለን ግን በይበልጥ መውሰዱን እንገፋበታለን።

ይባስ ብሎ፤ ቁማር አልጫወትም እንላለን ፥ ግን ደጋግመን እንጫወታለን።

ወንዶች ከልጃገረዶች ጋር አልወጣም እንላለን ፥ ግን የባሰውን ዝሙት እንፈጽማለን።

ሴቶች ከወንዶች ጋር አልወጣም እንላለን ፥ ግን ይባስ ብለን ከባዱን ሃጢአት ለመፈጸም እንወስናለን። ያንን አላደርግም እላለሁ ግን አሁንም ደግሜ ደጋግሜ አደርገዋለሁ።

አዎ! ጠላት እየተቃጠለ ነው። ሆኖም እስከዚህ ቅጽበት ድረስ ሙሉ ነፃነት ገና አልተሰጠውም።

ግን በጊዜው ይመጣል። ሦስት ዓመት ተኩል ጌታ ያንን ጠላት ይፈታዋል እና ይላል።

ልክ እኔ ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስ የጠፉ ነፍሳት ለማዳን፣ ለመውሰድ እና ወደ እግዚአብሔር ለማምጣት ሦስት ዓመት ተኩል ጊዜ እንደነበረኝ፣ እኔ ፍትሃዊ ነኝ፤ ስለዚህ የትግሉን ድርሻ እሰጥሃለሁ። አዎ! ለመግደል እና ለማጥፋት የሦስት ዓመት ተኩል ነፃነት ተሰጥቶሃል፤ ከዚያ ነፃ ትወጣለህ!

እግዚአብሔር ይመስገንና ዛሬም ሰላምታ የሚሰጧችሁ ሰዎች አሉ። አሁንም ስለእናንተ የሚያስቡና የሚቆረቆሩ ሰዎች አሉ።

እግዚአብሔር ይመስገን አሁንም አፍቃሪ ሰዎች አሉ። እግዚአብሔርን አመሰግናለሁ፤ ትግል ነው ግን አመሰግነዋለሁ።

ማንም የማይኖርበት ጊዜ ግን ይመጣል። ለምን? ምክንያቱም ሰይጣን ቦታውን ይሞላልና ነው፤ ነፃነትን ይበላልና ነው። መላው ዓለም ከምስራቅ እስከ ምዕራብ፣ ከሰሜን እስከ ደቡብ ማንም ሰው ዓይኑን ከመግለጡ በፊት በሰይጣን ይበላል። እና አሁን ሰይጣንን የሚያመልኩትን ሳይቀር ያቃጥላቸዋል።

አያችሁ፤ ሰይጣን ሁሉንም ሰው እርሱን የሚያመልኩትን ጨምሮ ይጠላቸዋል። ምስኪኖች አላፊውን ሰው እያመለኩ ነው። በመጨረሻ እነርሱንም ያቃጥላቸዋል

አያችሁ፤ ሰይጣን ሁሉንም በስሜታዊነት ይጠላል፤ በተለይ ጌታን የሚወዱትን በይበልጥ ይጠላል።

ለእርሱ የሚገዙለትንም ግን ይጠላቸዋል።

ያ ነፃነት ሲሰጠው ይህን ያደርጋል፤ እነዚህን ምስክሮች ይገድላቸዋል። ምን ያህል ኃይል እንዳላቸው ተመልከቱ። ሙሴ ውሃውን ወደ ደም ለወጠው። ኤልያስ ከሰማይ እሳት አወረደ። ሔኖክ ወደ ዓለም ፍርዱን አሳለፈ። ብዙ ኃይል እነሱ አላቸውና ምድርን በቀላሉ ማጥቃት ይችላሉ፤ ብዙ መቅሰፍቶችን እንደፈለጉ ማውረድ ይችላሉ። ለሚመጣው ማንም ሰው ስልጣን ይሰጣቸዋል። እና እነሱን ለመጉዳት የሚሞከር ሁሉ ይቃጠላታል፣ ይሞታታል፤ ሰይጣን ተፈትቶ ሙሉ ስልጣን ሲሰጠው ግን ይገድላቸዋል።

መላውን ዓለም በኮንክሪት ማደባለቂያ ውስጥ አስገብቶ ያሽከረክረዋል። እና ሁሉንም በአንድ ላይ ያደበለቃቅለዋል፤ አዲስ ኮንክሪት ያወጣል። ምናልባት በጥቂት ሰከንድ ውስጥ ሁሉም ይደርቃል

ፍትሃዊ እንደሆነ ይፈቅድለታል። አዎ! ፍትሃዊ፤ ግን ጌታ ለምን ለሰይጣን እንኳን ፍትሃዊነት እንደሚሰጠው ታውቃላችሁን? ምክንያቱም፤ በጊዜው የነበሩ ሰዎች ከጌታ ርቀው በመሄዳቸው ነበርና ነው።

ምንም እንኳን ለሰይጣን ሙሉ ነፃነት ቢሰጠውም ግን አሁንም ሁለት ምስክሮች አሉት። ‘ለመመስከር ሰዎች ተመልሰው ይምጡ’ለማለትና ንስሐ መግባት ይችሉ ዘንድ ነው።

የዚህ ዓለም የመጨረሻ ሰከንድ ቢሆንም ግእና ጌታ ግን ሁልጊዜ የእሱ የሆኑ ምስክሮች አሉት። ምንም ቢሆን ለራሱ ምስክሮች አሉት። በየትኛውም ጊዜ እና በየትኛውም ቦታ ክርስቶስ እራሱን ያለ ምስክር አይተውም። በገሃነም ልብ ውስጥ እንኳን ሁለት ምስክሮች አሉት።

ስለዚህ በእነዚህ ሦስት ዓመታት ተኩል ውስጥ ዓለምን ለማጥፋት ለሰይጣን እድል ይሰጠዋል።

• ፩ እግዚአብሔር እንዲህ ይለኛል። ሂድ፥ ከተልባ እግር የተሠራችን መታጠቂያ ለአንተ ግዛ፥ ወገብህንም ታጠቅባት፤ በውኃውም ውስጥ አትንከራት።
• ፪ እንደ እግዚአብሔርም ቃል መታጠቂያን ገዛሁ ወገቤንም ታጠቅሁባት።
• ፫-፬ ሁለተኛም ጊዜ። የገዛሃትን በወገብህ ያለችውን መታጠቂያ ወስደህ ተነሥ፥ ወደ ኤፍራጥስም ሂድ፥ በዚያም በተሰነጠቀ ዓለት ውስጥ ሸሽጋት የሚል የእግዚአብሔር ቃል መጣልኝ።
• ፭ እግዚአብሔርም እንዳዘዘኝ ሄድሁ በኤፍራጥስም አጠገብ ሸሸግኋት።
• ፮ ከብዙ ቀንም በኋላ እግዚአብሔር። ተነሥተህ ወደ ኤፍራጥስ ሂድ፥ በዚያም ትሸሽጋት ዘንድ ያዘዝሁህን መታጠቂያ ከዚያ ውስጥ ውሰድ አለኝ።
• ፯ እኔም ወደ ኤፍራጥስ ሄድሁ ቆፈርሁም፥ ከሸሸግሁበትም ስፍራ መታጠቂያይቱን ወሰድሁ። እነሆም፥ መታጠቂያይቱ ተበላሽታ ነበር፥ ለምንም አልረባችም።
• ፰ የእግዚአብሔርም ቃል ወደ እኔ እንዲህ ሲል መጣ፤
• ፱ እግዚአብሔር እንዲህ ይላል። እንዲሁ የይሁዳን ትዕቢት ታላቁንም የኢየሩሳሌምን ትዕቢት አበላሻለሁ።
• ፲ ቃሌን ይሰሙ ዘንድ እንቢ የሚሉ፥ በልባቸውም እልከኝነት የሚሄዱ፥ ያመልኩአቸውና ይሰግዱላቸው ዘንድ ሌሎችን አማልክት የሚከተሉ እነዚህ ክፉ ሕዝብ አንዳች እንዳማትረባ እንደዚች መታጠቂያ ይሆናሉ።
• ፲፩ መታጠቂያ በሰው ወገብ ላይ እንደምትጣበቅ፥ እንዲሁ ሕዝብና ስም ምስጋናና ክብር ይሆኑልኝ ዘንድ የእስራኤልን ቤት ሁሉ የይሁዳንም ቤት ሁሉ ከእኔ ጋር አጣብቄአለሁ፥ ይላል እግዚአብሔር፤ ነገር ግን አልሰሙም።
• ፲፪ ስለዚህ።የእስራኤል አምላክ እግዚአብሔር እንዲህ ይላል። ማድጋ ሁሉ የወይን ጠጅ ይሞላል ብለህ ትነግራቸዋለህ፤ እነርሱም። ማድጋ ሁሉ የወይን ጠጅ እንዲሞላ በውኑ እኛ አናውቅምን? ይሉሃል።
• ፲፫ አንተም እንዲህ ትላቸዋለህ። እግዚአብሔር እንዲህ ይላል። እነሆ፥ በዚህች ምድር የሚኖሩትን ሁሉ፥ በዳዊት ዙፋን የሚቀመጡትን ነገሥታት ካህናቱንም ነቢያቱንም በኢየሩሳሌምም የተቀመጡትን ሁሉ በስካር እሞላቸዋለሁ።
• ፲፬ ሰውንም በሰው ላይ፥ አባቶችንና ልጆችን በአንድ ላይ፥ እቀጠቅጣለሁ፥ ይላል እግዚአብሔር፤ አጠፋቸዋለሁ እንጂ አልራራም፥ አላዝንም፥ አልምርም።

For starters, feces were found far more often in commercial sectors, covering “approximately 50% of street segments in Key Commercial Areas and 30% in the Citywide survey,” second only to broken glass as can be seen in the ‘illegal dumping’ section.

If you’re wondering about the city’s fecal methodology, look no further than a footnote on page 43;

Feces also includes bags filled with feces that are not inside trash receptacles. Feces that are spread or smeared on the street, sidewalk, or other objects along the evaluation route are counted. Stains that appear to be related to feces but have been cleaned are not counted. Bird droppings are excluded.

As far as where most of the poo is found, Nob Hill takes the top spot, followed by the Tenderloin and The Mission districts.

“It’s terrible; this street is covered,” Tenderloin resident Joe Souza told The San Francisco Standard earlier this month. “There’s poop everywhere. You always see it along the wall and in front of the garage there.”

As the San Francisco Standard reports;

San Francisco’s commercial and residential streets are also highly tagged up, with every neighborhood except one—Visitacion Valley—reporting high levels of graffiti last year. The issue is once again worse in commercial areas, of which 71% said they had severe or moderate graffiti.

“In terms of actual counts of graffiti observed, there were about 10 times (160,000 vs. 16,000 respectively) as many instances of graffiti reported in the Key Commercial Areas survey in comparison to the Citywide sample,” the report said.

And San Francisco’s favorite cleanliness fixation, human or animal feces, continues to be a sore spot for the city: Almost half of the surveyed commercial areas observed feces. Citywide, that figure was just 30%.

San Francisco’s POOPOCALYPSE comes amid a staggering commercial office vacancy rate as a combination of pandemic-era work-from-home policies, and people fleeing the city’s notorious violence and poo-covered streets have made the once-thriving city into a ghost town.

💭 Fulgence Kayishema, a former police officer accused of ordering the killing of some 2,000 Tutsis who were seeking refuge in a church during the 1994 Rwandan genocide, has been arrested in South Africa, a UN war crimes tribunal and South African police said on Thursday.

Fulgence Kayishema was arrested on Wednesday in South Africa, the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT), which was set up by the United Nations, said.

Kayishema, who is believed to be in his early 60s, had assumed a false identity and gone by the name Donatien Nibashumba, South African police added.

He was captured in a joint operation by the tribunal’s fugitive tracking team and South African authorities following an investigation that had tracked him across several African countries, including Mozambique and Eswatini, since his indictment in 2001.

The United States had offered a $5 million (£4 million) reward for information leading to Kayishema’s arrest through its Rewards for Justice program. He was eventually captured at a vineyard in Paarl, a small town in a wine-making region about 30 miles east of Cape Town.

More than 800,000 people were killed in Rwanda’s genocide, which took place over the course of three months in 1994.
