Florida’s Surgeon General Joseph A. Ladapo warned on Friday against young men receiving COVID-19 vaccines, citing a disputed analysis by the state health department that they pose an “abnormally high risk” of death.

“Today, we released an analysis on COVID-19 mRNA vaccines the public needs to be aware of. This analysis showed an increased risk of cardiac-related death among men 18-39. FL will not be silent on the truth,” Ladapo tweeted.

The state’s health department released a statement on Friday stating that it carried out an analysis using a self-controlled case series technique to evaluate vaccine safety. The analysis, which was not peer-reviewed, has been criticized by vaccine experts, who said that it was flawed and the benefits of the vaccine outweighed the risks.

Twitter blocked the post from Lapado, an outspoken skeptic of COVID-19 vaccines, before restoring it on Sunday morning.

The Florida health department said that the analysis showed that there is an 84 percent increase in “relative incidence of cardiac-related death among males 18-39 years old within 28 days” after vaccination that contains messenger RNA (mRNA), which is used in the Pfizer-BioNTech and the Moderna vaccines.

💭 South Africa’s chief justice Mogoeng Mogoeng has rejected concerns that he could be endangering people’s health by linking coronavirus vaccines to a “satanic agenda”.

Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng has defended a prayer he delivered at the Tembisa Hospital on 10 December 2020, saying there was nothing untoward about the prayer because South Africa was a secular state. Mogoeng prayed against corruption and COVID-19 vaccines, which he said might be harmful to humans. Mogoeng also said that he never said he was against vaccines, but against vaccines that may ‘corrupt’ DNA and called on God to destroy it.

Worries have quickly surfaced that people might avoid vaccination as a result of Mogoeng’s comments.

The Guardian reports: After South Africa began hosting the continent’s first coronavirus vaccine trial, anti-vaccine activists protested against Africans being used as test subjects.

Two decades ago, the then-president Thabo Mbeki questioned whether HIV caused Aids, which has ravaged the country.

Mogoeng, who frequently displays his Christian faith while performing his duties, prayed at a public event on Thursday that people should be spared any vaccine that sought to “advance a satanic agenda of the mark of the beast”.

Addressing questions about this at a news conference on Friday to release a judiciary report, he said: “If there is any vaccine that is deliberately intended to do harm to people, that vaccine must never see the light of day. I cry unto God to stop it.”

Mogoeng added: “I don’t think the vaccine must ever be compulsory … You can’t impose a vaccine on people. Why should you?”

The Sunday Times Daily news site quoted Barry Schoub, a virology professor at Wits University and head of a ministerial advisory committee on Covid-19, as saying: “It is unfortunate that someone of that stature is misleading people because vaccines are such a major part of controlling this epidemic and it is unfortunate that someone with such influence is opposing efforts to control it.”

But Mogoeng said he would not be silenced: “I don’t care about the consequences. We’ve been quiet for far too long, toeing the line.”

MASSIVE Explosion in China Looked Like a Mini Nuke! | ግዙፍ ፍንዳታ በቻይና

An explosion occurred at an aluminum alloy plant on Tuesday morning in Dengfeng, Central China’s Henan Province. No casualties were reported as of press time, said local authorities.

Local emergency management staff have rushed to the scene.

The incident occurred at around 6:00 am at an aluminum alloy plant in a village of Gaocheng township after flood water from a nearby river poured into an alloy tank with a high temperature solution, according to a statement Dengfeng government issued on Tuesday.

After Dengfeng experienced heavy rainstorm on Monday, the water level of the Yinghe River soared and exceeded the warning line at around 4 am. The increased water level resulted in the collapse of the surrounding wall and flooded into the factory, said the statement.

The company later cut the power and evacuated its staff from the plant, it said.

A Gaocheng resident, surnamed Chen, told the Global Times that she heard a loud noise when the explosion occurred. “I thought it was a thunder as it was raining heavily outside then. I checked the time — it was at 6:06 am,” she said.

According to public information, Dengfeng Power Group Aluminum Alloy Company, the enterprise that runs the plant, showed a normal record in its all seven environmental protection onsite inspections.

Dengfeng government officials have arrived at the scene to help with the evacuation of the residents around the plant. No casualties or missing people were reported.

The city authorities have also started flood season safety investigation and rectification.

💭 China Floods: Passengers Stuck in Waist-High Water on Train

An operation is under way to rescue passengers submerged in waist-deep floodwaters on a subway train in China.

The passengers were travelling in Zhengzhou, in central Henan province on Tuesday, when they became stranded amid the rising water.

Henan province has been hit hard by heavy rain in recent days resulting in flooding that has affected more than a dozen cities.

At least one person has died and two are missing, state media report.

On Tuesday, Zhengzhou’s entire subway system was forced to close.

Video and images posted to social media show people standing on train seats to try to keep above the water.
