Germany’s Foreign Office, led by Green Party’s Baerbock, ordered the removal of a historic 482-year-old Christian Cross in the city of Münster in preparation for the meeting of G7 foreign ministers.

✞ The Diocese of Münster described the measure in a statement as “incomprehensible”. Traditions and symbols associated with them, which are an expression of values, attitudes and religious convictions, cannot simply be “hanged out”.

The decision of Ethiopia’s Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, to name a woman, Ayisha Mohammad, as the Minister of Defense has taken everyone, even Ethiopian citizens, aback.

Ethiopia’s new Defense Minister has majored in engineering. She is among the most famous engineers involved in building Ennahda dam, the largest dam under construction in the country.

In 2015, Ayisha was appointed as the Minister of Tourism and Culture, and in 2018 as the Construction Minister.

Following Ethiopia’s former Prime Minister, Hailemariam Desalegn, submitted his resignation on March, Ethiopia’s ruling party appointed Abiy Ahmed as the new primer.

In a bid to reshuffle the cabinet, Ethiopia’s prime minister changed 16 ministries yesterday, downsized the number of ministries from 28 to 20 and handed half of the posts to women.

The Democratic Federal Republic of Ethiopia, a landlocked country in the Horn of Africa with a population of over 100 million, is the second largest African nation in terms of population.

Following Armenia, it is the second country to declare Christianity as its official religion.

Nearly two-thirds of the population are Christian.

UAE Embassy Participates in Ethiopian Parliament’s Session

ADDIS ABABA, 16th October, 2018 (WAM) — The UAE Embassy in Ethiopia participated, on Tuesday in the Ethiopian Parliament’s session in the presence of Ethiopia’s Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed and representatives of the government.

Saud Ibrahim Al-Tunaiji, Second Secretary at the UAE Embassy and other representatives of missions and international organisations accredited to Ethiopia, also attended.

During the meeting, held at the Ethiopian Parliament, a new law on the executive apparatus of the Government was approved. The law was submitted by the Prime Minister of Ethiopia.
