Abraham Pleads for Sodom

When the men got up to leave, they looked down toward Sodom, and Abraham walked along with them to see them on their way. Then the Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do? Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him. For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just, so that the Lord will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him.”

Then the Lord said, “The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know.”

The men turned away and went toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the Lord. Then Abraham approached him and said: “Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it? Far be it from you to do such a thing—to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?”

The Lord said, “If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake.”

Then Abraham spoke up again: “Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, though I am nothing but dust and ashes, 28 what if the number of the righteous is five less than fifty? Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five people?”

“If I find forty-five there,” he said, “I will not destroy it.”

Once again he spoke to him, “What if only forty are found there?”

He said, “For the sake of forty, I will not do it.”

Then he said, “May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak. What if only thirty can be found there?”

He answered, “I will not do it if I find thirty there.” Abraham said, “Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty can be found there?”

He said, “For the sake of twenty, I will not destroy it.” Then he said, “May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?”

He answered, “For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it.” When the Lord had finished speaking with Abraham, he left, and Abraham returned home.

President Joe Biden repeated a false war story on Friday during a visit with veterans in Delaware.

Speaking with veterans at a town hall, Biden told a story of when he was in Iraq as Vice President and he was asked to pin a Silver Star on a service member for rescuing a comrade that had fallen 150 feet.

“This young man climbed down the hill, put a guy on his shoulder, and brought him back up and was shot at on the way up,” Biden explained. “And he got there and I went to present it to him, too.”

The president continued by recounting the story of the soldier telling him that he did not want the medal because his friend had died.

But the president got his facts wrong.

The event took place in Afghanistan, not Iraq. The medal Biden presented was a Bronze star, not a Silver Star. The award for the soldier was for the heroic act of going into a burning vehicle to save one of his friends, not for repelling into a ravine carrying his comrade 150 feet up a hill under gunfire.

This is not the first time that Biden has been called out for getting the story about a soldier he met horribly wrong.

He delivered different versions of the story throughout the 2020 presidential primaries but as the Washington Post detailed, Biden appeared to be jumbling three different stories into one, making his more dramatic.

“In the space of three minutes, Biden got the time period, the location, the heroic act, the type of medal, the military branch, and the rank of the recipient wrong, as well as his own role in the ceremony,” the Post reported.

Politifact also rated Biden’s story during the campaign as “Mostly False.”

“The emotional element of a soldier who feels his medal is unwarranted is accurate. But Biden embellished the tale with details to give the story an unimpeachable ring of truth, and the facts don’t back that up,” they wrote.

The only thing true about the story was that Biden awarded a Bronze Star to Staff Sgt. Jeremiah Workman at Forward Operating Base Airborne in Wardak Province, Afghanistan, on Jan. 11, 2011.

Paedophile Arrested on Flight to Ethiopia Jailed For Having Sex With 14-Year-Old Girl

A man has been jailed after he was caught trying to flee to Ethiopia days after sexual assaulting a teenage girl. Diiriye Ali-Jamac, 34, was arrested at Heathrow Airport on 2 May while on board a plane headed to the east African nation. He bought his ticket the day before the flight after discovering police were looking to speak to him as part of their investigation into the rape of a girl, 14. The victim was reported missing by her mother on 28 April and was found the next day at Hounslow railway station by police officers. She was taken into police protection and later told officers she had arranged to meet Ali-Jamac, who had taken her to a hotel and had sex with her. After his arrest, police searched Ali-Jamac’s phone and found he received a text message on 1 May from the owner of a car he used to drive his victim to the hotel. The text said police had seized the car as part of their investigation.

There was another text sent from Ali-Jamac’s solicitor in which he said he had received a voicemail and had tried to call his client back, asking if everything was alright. Ali-Jamac had purchased his ticket for Ethiopia on the same day, police found. The attacker, of Feltham, Greater London, was jailed for six years on Monday after pleading guilty to three counts of sexual activity with a child. He was also made the subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order. DC Sally Michail, of North Surrey’s Child Exploitation and Missing Unit, said: ‘I would like to commend the victim for her bravery in speaking out against Ali-Jamac and having to relive the horrendous ordeal she had suffered at his hands all over again when she provided her statement. ‘She was completely taken in by this man, who was 20 years her senior and someone she thought she could trust. ‘As soon as he became aware that police were on his trail, he tried to leave the country but fortunately we intercepted him as he boarded his flight.’

Nigeria Islamic Teacher Jailed 7 Years For Raping 35 Boys

A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Minna has sentenced a 33-year-old Islamic teacher, Abubakar Abdullahi, to seven years imprisonment for having anal sex with 35 of his pupils.

Abdullahi, a resident of Sabon Gari, Kontagora, was charged with unnatural offence, contrary to section 284 of the penal code law.

The Police Prosecutor, ASP. Daniel Ikwoche, had told the court that one Murtala Abdullahi, a Hisbah Commander in Kontagora Local Government Area reported the matter at the ‘A’ Police Division in Kontagora on July 22.

Ikwoche said the complainant alleged that the accused lured 35 of his pupils who are between the ages of 9 and 14 years into his room and had anal intercourse with them on different occasions between March and July.

When the charge was read to him, he pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.

The prosecutor thereafter prayed the court to try him summarily in line with section 157 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

In her ruling, Magistrate Hauwa Yusuf, sentenced Abdullahi to seven years in prison with hard labour.

Yusuf, however, said the convict will have the option of a N2 million fine after serving the first four years of his sentence.
