Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos have both reportedly invested in Synchron, a new brain-computer interface startup that aims to compete with companies like Elon Musk’s Neuralink.
Bloomberg reports that in March of last year, Tom Oxley, an expert in brain-computer interfaces, had dinner with Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, to discuss Oxley’s newly established company, Synchron Inc. During the dinner, which took place in Ojai, California, Bezos expressed interest in investing in the business.
On Thursday, Synchron announced that it had completed a funding round of $75 million, with Bezos Expeditions contributing a portion of the investment. The round was led by ARCH Venture Partners and included investment from Gates Frontier, the venture capital branch of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, as well as other investors. In addition, several previous investors, including Khosla Ventures and its founder, Vinod Khosla, who introduced Oxley to Gates, also participated in the funding round.
Brain-computer interfaces, also known as BCIs, have the potential to interpret and stimulate certain areas of the brain and are being explored as a possible treatment for brain injuries. According to Oxley in an interview, the new investors approached Synchron “through the lens of making an impact in neurology in an area of need.” Oxley estimates that approximately 100 million people worldwide have upper limb impairment and could potentially benefit from this technology.
This funding brings Synchron’s total funding to $145 million, making it one of the highest-funded companies in the brain-computer interface (BCI) space, according to research firm Pitchbook. While it may be behind companies such as Elon Musk’s Neuralink Corporation and Max Hodak’s Science Corp. in terms of fundraising, it is still far ahead of many other BCI companies. This is a significant achievement, especially considering the costly process of getting BCIs approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.
Synchron has already enrolled three patients in a U.S. trial, with two of them receiving the implant. Oxley expects the remaining patients to enroll and receive their implants in the coming months. Over the course of a year, doctors will observe these patients and report their findings to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In the past, the FDA granted Synchron “breakthrough” status, which streamlined the approval process for the company.
Elon Musk claims that Neuralink is also close to human trials.

💭 Since 2020, homelessness in California is up 6.2%. On any given night, the data showed half of all unsheltered homeless people in the country are in the Golden State.
🥶 Homeless Population by State 2022
In the United States, there are over half a million people experiencing homelessness. These individuals live in a temporary shelter or transitional housing or sleep in a place not meant for habitation (like an abandoned building). The top four causes of homelessness, in order, are: lack of affordable housing, unemployment, poverty, and low wages.
Overall, 66.7% of the total homeless population of the United States is single individuals, with the remaining 33.3% being families. In recent years, homelessness increased nationally by almost one percent. This number comprises unaccompanied children and young adults, single adults experiencing chronic homelessness, and people experiencing unsheltered homelessness. Some populations have seen a decrease in homelessness. Dramatic reductions are amongst families and the veteran community.
The state of California currently has the highest homeless population, with about 151,278 homeless people. This is about one-fifth of the total homeless population in the United States. This figure is attributed to issues with providing affordable and adequate housing opportunities, current drug laws, and the inaccessibility of important mental health resources.
Another alarming statistic comes from New York City. In recent years, homelessness in this city reached the highest levels since the Great Depression in the 1930s, reaching its highest point under Mayor Bill de Blasio. However, this year saw the second year in the decline of the homeless or unsheltered population, attributed to the creation of safe havens, or specialized shelters, that have a streamlined process of getting people into permanent housing. As of May 2020, there were 59,308 homeless people in NYC.
The state with the lowest percentage of the homeless population is experiencing an increase as well. Due to an oil and gas boom, North Dakota now has the fastest-growing economy. With this comes a rush of people coming to the state for work, but surging housing prices has made it difficult to find a home. For a state-by-state look at homeless statistics, take a look at the table below. Data from this table was retrieved from the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness.
👉 Here are the 10 states with the most homeless people:
💭 The Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV) just released insurance records for 72 million Germans. The data paints a harrowing picture. Not only has the vaccine failed to save people’s lives from infection, but it’s now apparent that populations are living through a modern-day vaccine holocaust. The data was released at a press conference and live streamed on December 12, 2020.
German insurance data points to a vaccine holocaust
In 2020, the German government set out to monitor potential vaccine injury through insurance data. The Paul Ehrlich Institute (the German equivalent of the U.S. CDC) was tasked with analyzing and publishing the insurance data, but they have failed to do so in a timely and transparent manner.
German parliamentarian Martin Sichert and data analyst Tom Lausen forced the German government to release the data to the public. The data is shocking. After the covid jabs were rolled out to Germany at the end of 2020, the number of sudden deaths more than doubled in the first quarter of 2021. The spike in excess mortality continued as the vaccine program was rolled out to the public.
Before the jab was rolled out, the average number of sudden deaths in Germany stood at approximately 6,000 per quarter. Even during the “pandemic” in 2020, excess deaths followed similar trends to 2019, hovering around 6,000 per quarter.
Now, there are roughly 14,000 sudden and unexpected deaths per quarter. Excess mortality has more than doubled in a heavily vaccinated population. Every day in Germany, roughly 88 fully vaccinated people are now dying suddenly and unexpectedly – above the pre-vaccine averages.
Professor Stefan Homburg, former Director of the Institute of Public Finance at the University of Hannover, tweeted: “Since vaccination began in early 2021, ‘sudden and unexpected’ deaths have exploded. This is shown by the new KBV data of the 72 million insured persons.”
Global life insurance industry paying out roughly 250% more after the covid jab was rolled out
The global life insurance industry detected the first signals that the population was dying off faster after the covid-19 vaccine rollout. In the first three quarters of 2021, the life insurance industry paid out $5.5 billion, which dwarfed the total payouts ($3.5 billion) for the entirety of 2020. Aegon, which conducts two-thirds of its business in the U.S., paid out $111 million in the third quarter of 2021. These claims were 258% greater than the year before, when $31 million was paid out during a deadly global pandemic.
OneAmerica insurance of Indianapolis reported a 40 percent increase in death claims in 2021, compared to pre-plandemic levels. The deaths are being recorded for working-age people between the ages of 18 and 64. “We are seeing, right now, the highest death rates we have seen in the history of this business – not just at OneAmerica,” confirmed company CEO Scott Davison. “The data is consistent across every player in that business.”
In March of 2022, Andreas Schofbeck, former CEO of health insurance conglomerate BKK/ProVitaSchofbeck, reported an unexpected jump in vaccine-related health insurance claims. Schofbeck used the BKK billing data to claim that the government was under reporting adverse events to the covid jabs. After notifying the Paul Ehrlich Institute, he was abruptly dismissed and fired.
In his letter to the PEI, Schofbeck wrote: “If these figures are extrapolated to the whole year and to the population in Germany, probably 2.5-3 million people in Germany have received medical treatment for vaccination side effects after Corona vaccination.”
This data is on par with the vaccine injury data collected by Open Vaers in the United States. Life and health insurance companies continue to raise the alarm about vaccine injury and death, but governments continue to pretend that the excess death has nothing to do with the unlawful vaccine mandates they enforced.

💭 For a pact (Ethiopia and Eritrea) of the preplanned genocidal Tigray war, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2019 to the Current genocidal Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed Ali.
Norwegian authorities have advised its citizens not to travel to large parts of Ethiopia.
Through a statement issued on December 17, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the travel advisories would tighten up for western Oromia, amongst others, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.
The same emphasises that since an explosion that happened in November 2020, the conflict in Ethiopia has gone through several phases, and the place is no longer safe to travel to for non-essential purposes.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against all travel to the conflict-affected areas in western Ethiopia. This includes the areas of Kelam Welega, West Welega, Buno Bedele, East Welega, Horo Guduru Welega in Oromia Region, Gambella Region, and Benishangul-Gumuz Region,” the statement reads.
According to the Ministry, between the negotiations of the parties, a ceasefire agreement was reached, which contributed to the improvement of the situation in northern Ethiopia, but the situation is still very uncertain in the Tigray region.
Thus, the Ministry has also urged citizens not to travel to the Tigray region, as well as the border areas between the Amhara and Tigray regions and the Afar region.
In addition, the riots in Eastern Ethiopia and towards the border with Somalia have caused an insecure situation for these regions as well. At the same time, the situation for the capital in Addis Ababa is still the same, though the capital is exempted from travel advisories. In this direction, air traffic to and from the capital continues to develop normally.

McDonald’s is a quick service restaurant (QSR) chain based in the United States. It was founded in California in 1940 by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald. Eventually, it was transformed by a production line system that rolled out burgers in a quick service style. This was the start of the company’s “McDonaldization”, a phrase coined by sociologist George Ritzer, meaning that the company prioritized efficiency, calculability, predictability, standardization, and control. Today, this type of system is not only used in many QSRs but also for a variety of other institutions and organizations. Ultimately, this method of operating has allowed McDonald’s golden arches to become a familiar spectacle in towns and cities all over the world. In 2021, there were over 40 thousand McDonald’s restaurants globally a figure that has grown year-over-year for the past decade.
Where are McDonald’s biggest markets?
The quick service behemoth operated and franchised by far the largest proportion of restaurants in its home country. In 2021, the number of McDonald’s restaurants in the U.S. reached 13.4 thousand. When looking at the countries with the most McDonald’s in Europe, France (including Monaco) took the top spot, accounting for 1.5 thousand units. Meanwhile, China had the most McDonald’s restaurants in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions. The United States was also one of McDonald’s biggest markets in terms of revenue. In McDonald’s regional revenue breakdown, the U.S. accounted for roughly 8.7 billion U.S. dollars in revenue in 2021. Meanwhile, internationally operated markets such as Australia, France, Canada, and the UK made the largest overall contribution to McDonald’s total revenue, with a sum of 12.09 billion U.S. dollars. In total, McDonald’s revenue reached 23.22 billion U.S. dollars in 2021.
Is McDonald’s the biggest fast food brand?
Given its global reach, large number of units, and high revenue it is perhaps no surprise that in 2022 McDonald’s placed in the Forbes top 100 largest global companies in terms of market capitalization. Furthermore, when looking at a ranking of the biggest global QSRs by brand value McDonald’s came out on top. With a brand value of almost 155 billion U.S. dollars in 2021, McDonald’s surpassed other QSR chains by a large margin. Coffeehouse chain Starbucks was its closest competitor; however, Starbucks’ brand value was significantly smaller than McDonald’s.
Digitalization of McDonald’s
McDonald’s has more than a couple of famous menu items, some of which are the “Happy Meal”, the “McFlurry”, and the “Big Mac”. The price of the “Big Mac” is also used as an indicator for the purchasing power of an economy through the “Big Mac Index” – published annually by the Economist since 1986. Not only does McDonald’s provide the option of buying these items in-store and via the drive thru, but the company also provides home delivery. McDonald’s initially rolled out its “McDelivery” service in 1993 which has since developed into partnerships with online delivery services such as UberEats and DoorDash. In recent times, the food delivery market has moved increasingly online and in 2027 the global revenue of the online food delivery market was forecast to reach 223.7 billion U.S. dollars. This online market became essential to restaurants during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, where lockdown and social distancing measures meant that people were unable to order in-store.
