👹 Turkey’s Erdogan: Armenian attitude towards Azerbaijan will have consequences

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday Armenia’s attitude towards Azerbaijan was unacceptable and would have consequences, after days of clashes between the two neighbors.

“We find the situation that has occurred due to Armenia’s violation of the agreement – reached after the (2020) war that resulted in the victory of Azerbaijan – to be unacceptable,” Erdogan told a rally in the Turkish capital Ankara.

“We hope that Armenia returns from this wrong path as soon as possible and uses its time and energy to strengthen peace,” Erdogan added.

“This attitude will, of course, cause consequences for the Armenian side, which not only does not fulfill the terms of the signed agreement but also constantly displays an aggressive attitude.”

🛑 No More Armenian Genocides: The World Must Restrain Azerbaijan and Turkey

🔥 The World’s First Christian Nation Is Under Attack.

On September 13, 2022, the Azerbaijani military launched a large-scale assault on the territory of the Republic of Armenia. Cities and towns deep inside Armenian territory have been bombed. So far, the Armenian government has confirmed 49 soldiers killed; the true death toll, among both soldiers and civilians, is surely higher.

Russia has brokered a fragile ceasefire, but fresh attacks were reported this morning. France has announced that it will raise the situation at the UN Security Council.

This attack represents yet another stage in the Armenian Genocide. This genocide process began in the late 19th century, when the Ottoman Empire massacred hundreds of thousands of Armenian Christians, and reached its peak in 1915-1923, when the Empire liquidated the Christian populations of Anatolia and sponsored anti-Armenian massacres in the Caucasus. From 1988-1994, Azerbaijan carried out further ethnic cleansing of Armenian Christians.

The most recent stage in the genocide process was Azerbaijan’s 2020 assault on the Armenian territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. Thousands were killed in this 44-day war of aggression, and Azerbaijan ethnically cleansed the lands it conquered of their Armenian inhabitants. Armenian civilians caught behind Azerbaijani lines were kidnapped or executed.

In that war, as in the current attack, support from the Republic of Turkey – the Ottoman Empire’s successor state – was crucial to Azerbaijan’s efforts. The violence was only suspended by the intervention of Russian peacekeepers.

With this new assault, the genocide process has moved, for the first time since 1920, into the territory of the Republic of Armenia itself. If the fighting continues to escalate, it could lead to the final extinction of Armenians in their homelands.

The international community is not helpless in this matter. The United States, its allies, and Russia hold significant influence over Turkey and Azerbaijan. Turkey is a member of NATO; Azerbaijan receives over $100 million in military aid from the United States every year; NATO states are actively seeking to replace Russian energy imports with imports from Azerbaijan; Russia sells vast quantities of military hardware to Azerbaijan.

Christian Solidarity International calls on the United States, its NATO partners, and the Russian Federation to suspend all security cooperation with Azerbaijan and to take all necessary restraining measures until this aggression ends.

We call on the UN Security Council to fulfill the role for which it was created and respond forcefully to this act of aggression.

Furthermore, we call on the church in Europe and the United States to speak out for, and bring aid to, our Armenian brothers and sisters in Christ, who are enduring yet another round of violence aimed at extinguishing their existence as a people.

💭 ‘Tsunami’-like floodwaters kill at least 10 in Italy as people climb trees to find safety

“It was an extreme event,” climatologist Massimiliano Fazzini said.

Floodwaters triggered by heavy rainfall have swept through several towns in a hilly region of central Italy, leaving 10 people dead and at least four missing, authorities said.

Dozens of survivors scrambled onto rooftops or up trees to await rescue.

“It wasn’t a water bomb, it was a tsunami,” Riccardo Pasqualini, the mayor of Barbara, told Italian state radio of the sudden downpour on Thursday evening that devastated his town in the Marche region, near the Adriatic Sea.

He said the flooding left the 1,300 residents of Barbara without drinking water and had impacted phone services.

A mother and her young daughter were missing after trying to escape the floodwaters, the mayor told Italian news agency ANSA.

Floodwater invaded garages and basements and with its weight and force knocked down doors.

“It was an extreme event, more than an exceptional one,” climatologist Massimiliano Fazzini said.

He said that based on his calculations the amount of rain that fell, concentrated over four hours that included an especially heavy 15-minute period, was the most in hundreds of years.

In a space of a few hours, the region was deluged with the amount of rainfall it usually receives in six months, state TV said.

Some of the worst flooding struck in and around town of Senigallia, where a river overflowed its banks.

Hamlets in the hills near the Renaissance tourist town of Urbino were also inundated when fast-moving rivers of water, mud and debris rushed through streets.

Two Years into The #TigrayGenocide: The US is Still ‘Increasingly Concerned’ By Fighting in Ethiopia

Posted by addisethiopia / አዲስ ኢትዮጵያ on September 16, 2022

💭 “State Department spokesman Ned Price called on both sides to ‘halt immediately their military offensives’”

💭 Let’s compare the following official statements on Ethiopia, Armenia, Ukraine and Egypt and see the hypocrisy and bias of American foreign policy:

👉 Since the beginning of the genocidal war on Christian Tigray, Ethiopia on November 4th 2020 the state department repeatedly made such a half-hearted and hollow statement:

There is no military solution to this conflict, and all parties must begin ceasefire negotiations without preconditions.

👉 The exact same statement is made concerning the ongoing Muslim Azerbaijani and Turkish aggression against Christian Armenia:

We’re continuing to urge the parties to engage in the peace process. We urge that a cessation of hostilities be maintained, and we urge the disengagement of military forces and work to resolve all outstanding issues between Armenia and Azerbaijan through peaceful negotiations. Use of force is never an acceptable path, and we are glad that the continued engagement at high levels in Armenia and Azerbaijan has helped the sides reach a ceasefire. We continue to engage and encourage the work needed to reach a lasting peace. Again, there can be no military solution to this.

👉 And on Russia-Ukraine conflict:

The United States will continue our unwavering support for Ukraine as it defends its freedom – for the sake of its own people. Everything we have provided for our Ukrainian partners has had one purpose and only one purpose, and that is to enable to defend their country, to defend their territory, to defend their freedom, to defend their democracy against invading Russian aggressors. This is about equipping our Ukrainian partners with what they need to preserve their sovereignty, their independence, and their territorial integrity as well.

👉 And on Egypt:

“The Biden administration has taken an approach regarding Egypt that reflects the full range of our national interests. When it comes to the visit of President Sisi to Qatar, we welcome the visit and the recent meeting with the emir of Qatar. Both Egypt and Qatar are essential partners of the United States. Both have played an active role in facilitating peace in the region, and we support closer diplomatic, economic, and people-to-people ties between the two countries.”

On Wednesday, 10 people were killed in a second day of air strikes on the country’s Tigray region when twin drone attacks hit a residential neighbourhood in the regional capital of Mekelle.

The attack — the second in two days — came shortly after rebels said they were willing to observe an immediate ceasefire and participate in a peace process led by the African Union after about two years of war.

Mike Hammer, the US special envoy to the Horn of Africa, has been speaking to the Ethiopian government, Tigrayan forces and UN and African Union diplomats on the ground for two weeks.

“We are increasingly concerned by the growing military activity in northern Ethiopia. We strongly condemn the resumption of hostilities,” said Mr Price.

The Ethiopian government said Wednesday it was “committed” to the AU-led peace process.

“These actions are inconsistent with the government of Ethiopia and Tigrayan regional authorities’ stated willingness (for peace talks),” he said.

Both sides have accused the other for the resumption of fighting in late August which shattered a five-month truce that had allowed the delivery of aid.

An untold number of civilians have died, with the US alleging “ethnic cleansing,” since war broke out in late 2020 between the central government and the TPLF, which had ruled Ethiopia for decades until Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed took office in 2018.
