PAYBACK! Christian ‘Babylon Brigades’ Oust Isis Jihadis From Monastery In Bloody Battle

CHRISTIAN defence forces have captured suspected Islamic State militants hiding in a Catholic monastery in Iraq during the battle to reclaim Mosul in northern Iraq.

Known as the Iraqi Christian forces Kataeb Babylon – or Babylon Brigades – the group has been working to reclaim the city of Mosul from ISIS fanatics.

The extremists were captured near the Mar Benham Syriac Catholic monastery in the town of Khidr Ilyas southeast of Mosul on Tuesday.

Iraqi fighters battling to oust the Islamist death cult – also know by its Arabic acronym Daesh – from Mosul captured the Catholic Mar Benham monastery over the weekend, allowing its priests to return after a two-year absence.

Dating back to the fourth century AD, the monastery lies just 20 miles south of Iraq’s second city, which became a bastion of the jihadi group which swept across northern Iraq in 2014.

ISIS filmed the destruction of part of the church in 2015 when it detonated a bomb outside the building, part of a wave of terror on religious and archaeological sites that do not fit with the group’s twisted ideology.

They also burned a collection of books about Christian theology, scraped off inscriptions written in Syriac – the language used by Jesus – and demolished sculptures of the Virgin Mary and the monastery’s patron saint.

Duraid Elias, commander of the Babylon Brigades, told Reuters: “Their fundamental goal was to destroy Christian history and civilisation in the Nineveh plains.”

ISIS had converted Mar Behnam, Iraq’s largest monastery, into a headquarters for the Hisba — morality police, which enforced strict rules against such things as smoking, men shaving their beards and women baring their faces in public.

A remote corner of the complex was filled with dozens of satellite dishes the commander said had been confiscated from residents nearby.

The Babylon Brigades are Christian fighters who form part of the anti-ISIS alliance to retake Mosul.

They often travel with large wooden crosses in their pickup trucks and black headbands declaring devotion to Jesus or the Virgin Mary.

And they plan to continue fighting to rid the terror group from other Christian sites in Iraq.

The Babylon Brigades commander said: “We are proving to the world that Christians are not weak. We are stronger than they imagined.

“There are others. We are going one by one: for every Christian house they blew up, we blow up a house next to it,” he said from atop the monastery, pointing out one such pair of buildings.

“This is war. An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.”

Saudi Arabia In Arrears To Construction Contractors

Many understood the huge significance of the revitalization of the U.S. oil industry on the world market, especially impacting the financial position of Saudi Arabia. In fact, 2015 data according to the CIA Fact Book has the U.S. and the kingdom almost equal in total year oil production. And of course, the slide in oil prices has required Saudi Arabia to enact austerity measures. As it turns out, the effects have come more quickly and severely than some predicted.

This past Sunday, Arab News reported that the kingdom has just made a Saudi riyal 40-billion (10.5 billion USD) late payment owed to private contractors. And that amount still does not settle the matter. Fahad Al-Hammadi, chief of the National Contractors’ Committee at the Council of Saudi Chambers, said:

The Saudi government is expected to pay up to 80 percent of the total dues to contractors during the remaining few weeks of this year by disbursing another SR100 billion (26.5 Billion USD)[.]

The lag in payments in concert with the penalties against the Saudi Bin Laden Construction Group for the Mecca crane disaster have left tens of thousands of expat workers out of work and stranded in the country. An example is the Mohammad Al Mojil Group (MMG), which has directly appealed to Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman that it could not continue operating in the current situation.

MMG has been typical of many companies who felt that the good times would continue to roll and became overextended. Then, the founder, his son, and the chairman were sentenced by the Capital Market Authority (CMA) for fraud and manipulation and suspended the stock over the company’s losses. The end result is that the company had to reduce its workforce from 25,000 to 3,000.

Officially, there is a lot of optimism that the payment plan will work and that construction projects will resume. It was reported that some of the contractors from Germany, Turkey, Spain, and India confirmed that they are being paid their due. Yet construction in Riyadh has been on hold for several months. Construction sites for the planned metro subway system, medical facilities, roads, and highways still sit idle. It’s anyone’s guess if the continued transfer of funds from the public treasury to private contractors will solve the problem, given the vastly reduced oil revenue.

‘We Are A Muslim Business’ Woolworths Store Cancels Christmas Over Islamic Customers

WOOLWORTHS has cancelled Christmas in one of its German stores after claiming its only remaining customers are Muslim.

The former high street favourite went bust seven years ago in the UK but still operates 300 stores across Germany.

And a row has broken out after staff at a branch in Dortmund decided not to bother with Christmas decorations, gifts or music this year because it is now essentially a Muslim store.

Shocked locals found out after the Christmas section, which featured decorations, gifts and and festive treats such as chocolate Father Christmases, was removed after just a few days on display.

And a staff member reportedly told baffled shoppers: “We are a Muslim business now. We do not want to sell Christmas articles.”
