Muslim in Ethiopia Attacks Wife for Leaving Islam

Posted by addisethiopia / አዲስ ኢትዮጵያ on September 22, 2016

A woman in Ethiopia had been a Christian for six weeks when her husband found out and beat her for leaving Islam, sources said.

Habiba Ibrahim, a 34-year-old mother of three in Bokulu Boma, Ethiopia, received hospital treatment for three days after the assault earlier this month by her husband, Ibrahim Dido, the sources said. She had put her faith in Christ on Aug. 2 in Bokulu Boma, about 50 kilometers (31 miles) from the Moyale on the border between Ethiopia and Kenya.

Dido’s anger flared after Sept. 10 morning prayers at a nearby mosque, where he had confirmed rumors that his wife had left Islam, and he began striking her with tree branches, Ibrahim told Morning Star News.

He locked me in the house and began beating me with sticks, and immediately neighbors arrived and rescued me from my husband’s wrath,” she said.

A neighbor who helped rescue her said Ibrahim’s clothes were covered with blood from a deep cut on her forehead.

Her husband was shouting, saying that she should die for forsaking Islam,” the neighbor said.

Area residents rushed Ibrahim to a clinic in Bokulu Boma, and she was discharged after three days. Besides the gash on her head, she had bruises on her left hand and elbow.

Ibrahim had placed her faith in Christ after an evangelist spoke with her about saving faith in Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection. Their conversations were part of an evangelistic movement in northern Kenya and southern Ethiopia, begun 10 years ago, in the Burji language spoken by people living on both sides of the Moyale area.

After trusting in Christ, Ibrahim began stepping back from Islamic ritual, she said.

My husband began questioning me on my laxity in Islamic activities, which I did not respond to,” Ibrahim said.

A week before the attack, a woman from the church with which Ibrahim had connected visited her, saying, “Take care for your life, because the Muslims have discovered that you have converted to Christianity,” a source said.

Ibrahim and her three children, ages 8, 6 and 3, have taken refuge in another village and need medical and financial support.

Ethiopia’s constitution requires the separation of state and religion, establishes freedom of religious choice and practice, prohibits religious discrimination and stipulates the government shall not interfere in the practice of any religion, according to the U.S. State Department’s 2015 International Religious Freedom Report.

Of the population of 99.4 million in Ethiopia, about 20 percent belong to Christian evangelical groups and 40 percent to the Ethiopian Orthodox Church (EOC), while about 34 percent of the total population is Muslim, according to Operation World.

Ethiopia ranked 18th on Open Doors’ 2016 World Watch List of countries where persecution of Christians is most severe.

My Note: The above information came from, „Morning Star„ The town Bokulu Boma = Barack Obama – and Sen. Obama visited this particular region in 2006. And, what could be this? “Trump will go 26th” was played on loop in the morning of September 20, 2016, in NY/NJ.

Almost All Living People Outside Of Africa Trace Back To A Single Migration More Than 50,000 Years Ago

Australian Aborigines have long been cast as a people apart. Although Australia is halfway around the world from our species’s accepted birthplace in Africa, the continent is nevertheless home to some of the earliest undisputed signs of modern humans outside Africa, and Aborigines have unique languages and cultural adaptations. Some researchers have posited that the ancestors of the Aborigines were the first modern humans to surge out of Africa, spreading swiftly eastward along the coasts of southern Asia thousands of years before a second wave of migrants populated Eurasia.

Not so, according to a trio of genomic studies, the first to analyze many full genomes from Australia and New Guinea. They conclude that, like most other living Eurasians, Aborigines descend from a single group of modern humans who swept out of Africa 50,000 to 60,000 years ago and then spread in different directions. The papers “are really important,” says population geneticist Joshua Akey of the University of Washington, Seattle, offering powerful testimony that “the vast majority of non-Africans [alive today] trace their ancestry back to a single out-of-Africa event.”

Yet the case isn’t closed. One study argues that an earlier wave of modern humans contributed traces to the genomes of living people from Papua New Guinea. And perhaps both sides are right, says archaeologist Michael Petraglia of the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History in Jena, Germany, a co-author on that paper who has long argued for an early expansion out of Africa. “We’re converging on a model where later dispersals swamped the earlier ones,” he says.

A decade ago, some researchers proposed the controversial idea that an early wave of modern humans left Africa more than 60,000 years ago via a so-called coastal or southern route. These people would have launched their migration from Ethiopia, crossing the Red Sea at its narrowest point to the Arabian Peninsula, then rapidly pushing east along the south Asian coastline all the way to Australia. Some genetic studies, many on mitochondrial DNA of living people, supported this picture by indicating a relatively early split between Aborigines and other non-Africans. But analysis of whole genomes— the gold standard for population studies— was scanty for many key parts of the world.

A boat carrying almost 600 people capsized off Egypt’s coast on Wednesday, killing at least 43, in the latest disaster among migrants trying to reach Europe.

The boat sank in the Mediterranean Sea off Burg Rashid, a village in the northern Beheira province. Officials said 31 bodies had been found, 20 men, 10 women and one child. A Reuters correspondent later saw a fishing boat bring in 12 more bodies, bringing the total so far to 43.

Rescue workers have so far saved 154 people, officials said, meaning about 400 could still be missing.

The boat had been carrying Egyptian, Sudanese, Eritrean, and Somali migrants, officials said.
