The Ten Muslim Nation Confederacy – The Same Ten Nation Confederacy Spoken By Prophet Daniel?

This war is no longer a war about Yemen, but a formation of a Sunni coalition they call it Al-Tahaluf Al-A’shari, literally the Ten Nation Confederacy which the media in English calls Ten Sunni-led Arab states. 

In response to U.S. abandonment of Saudi Arabia and a response to Iran’s threat to the region, the Sunni Muslim world has risen to form a major unified force. The Coalition never informed the U.S. of its actions in Yemen fearing the U.S. is flirting with Iran.

Caricature of this new alliance is shown in the Arab media as a right-arm fist portruding out of the earth with the mark “There is No God But Allah and Muhammad Is His Messenger” the flag, badge and emblem of Islam stemming from Saudi Arabia. It is the pride of Muslims to mark their right arms and foreheads with the mark of Islam. It also reminds of Daniel 4 which speaks of Babylon leaving the tree stump of its roots in the earth, bound with a band of iron and bronze while re-arising, not in ancient Babel in Iraq, but in Dumma, Kedar and Arabia as Isaiah 21 prophesied prior to God’s final judgment “Babylon is fallen is fallen” (Isaiah 21:9, Revelation 18:1-2, Revelation 14:8) in which Iran will finally give it a death blow.

One wonders is this what the Bible speaks of, the ten horns representing ten kings, and all is left, is an eleventh, a little horn which comes up among them who is the Antichrist (Daniel 7:8, 11)?

One must admit, the temptation to make such declarations can arise as we see the events unfold on daily basis, but let the wise increase in patience which is the wisdom in not rushing to conclusion. The bronze nails in Daniel 7:19 points to a Grecian, not European entity. And with its teeth of iron and its nails of bronze (Daniel 7:19), there are ten nails and only time will tell if 20 to 30 other states (iron teeth) joins the ten nation confederacy under this umbrella. And we have additions, foreign ministers from 22 Arab countries agreed to form a unified military force on Thursday, approving a draft resolution designed to counter growing security threats in the region.

Is what we see a prelude to something greater, or if Erdogan of Turkey becomes more active in this confederacy, or if even this confederacy grows to be some fulfillment, is very interesting, but only time will tell. “Its nails of bronze” must be alluding to the correlation of the ten toes to the Grecian Empire. This is deduced because bronze as is accepted by biblical scholars represents Greece which today is Asia Minor. Revelation 17 also speaks of the ten kings will be joined by another king—an eleventh (the little horn)—who is the Antichrist, the ruler over the entire fourth kingdom (Daniel 7:8, 11).

Mecca is what drives this ten nation confederacy in Yemen, is the latest front in a growing regional contest for power with Iran that is also playing out in Syria, where Tehran backs Assad’s government, and Iraq, where Iranian-backed Shiite militias are playing a major role in fighting.

And this confederacy, as it seems, means business. Al Arabiya reported a massive 150,000 Saudi ground troops have been mobilized along with fighter jets and naval units, as part of the move codenamed, “Operation Decisive Storm.” Egyptian TV reportedly said that the Arab League will coordinate with the chiefs of staff of the various Arab nations’ armies to organize the new Ten Nation Confederacy force within one month. Egyptian officials also announced that a ground invasion of Yemen will follow the airstrikes. This, including a naval blockade has been imposed by the Saudi ship Asifat Al-Hazm (Firm Storm) on a strait that connects the Red Sea to the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean, and provides passage to the Mediterranean Sea. The strait is used by Egypt, Sudan, Jordan, Yemen, Djibouti and Saudi Arabia, among other nations.

Four Egyptian vessels were spotted en route to secure the Gulf of Aden, off the city where President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi was based out of after leaving the capital city of Sanaa, and before being forced to flee the country. Both Sudan and Morocco announced that this war is in defense of their beloved Mecca. The Sunni Alliance fears Shiite talk of shift from Mecca to Karbala. Any harm on Saudi Arabia means to harm Islam’s Qibla, the direction to the image, the meteor in Mecca which over a billion Muslim prostrate towards daily.

And such support for this Sunni coalition is not only by secularists, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the largest body of Islamic states, affirmed its support for the deal and the ten state confederacy.

Iran’s rise to power, forced the Arab world to respond to the unprecedented threats on multiple fronts in Yemen, Iraq, Libya and Syria, all of which are in end-times context biblically. In Yemen (biblical Teman) Houthi militants believed to have Iranian backing have taken over large swathes of the country including its official capital. In Libya (also becomes part of a future league in Ezekiel 30,38) a civil war is raging between a government that controls the capital of Tripoli, and the internationally recognized government — aided by Arab and Egyptian airstrikes — based out of the city of Tobruk. In Syria (see Isaiah 17) a civil war has raged on for four years between President Bashar Assad’s government, which is backed by Iran (biblical Persia), and loose coalitions of militants, as well as ISIS which has taken over significant portions of Iraq and Syria, has expanded into Libya, and has been drawing membership from across the Islamic world, recently gaining the loyalty of Nigerian Boko Haram and claiming responsibility for a deadly terror attack in Tunisia.

There is no doubt that a shift and confederacy buildup has happened, but for it to be the final culmination, Persia, its enemy must ally with Turkey despite the Shiite Sunni divide which will later unravel again on the Mountains of Israel. This healing is unlikely to happen until a false peace treaty is first established. It is then that the focus shifts by both Sunni and Shiite coalition towards the persecution of both the Church and Jerusalem which will exclude some Arab states: “And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.” (Revelation 12:3). In Ezekiel 38, both Persia as well as Meshech and Tubal (Asia Minor Turkey) are involved as well as Libya and Egypt (Ezekiel 30) in a “league”.

The beginning embryo and realization that such states can unite is already made firm, but for a seven year peace deal, there needs to be turmoil, which we are witnessing on a daily basis already. This military power will force the Houthis to accept a resolution within days or weeks. This will take Iran back to the drawing board as Russia will play the peace maker. And while Iran harbors its hate, eventually, both Sunni and Shiites will realize that the warring has no end and one sinister plan will be devised to unite the fractured Muslim world which sees the turmoil lasting seven years beginning in 2011 at the rise of the Arab Spring. Such unity cannot happen unless a scapegoat is found: Israel. As the days come, the Middle East is realizing, why is Sunni killing Shiite while Jerusalem remains “un-liberated”? This is the outcry currently on the streets of the Muslim world, and if the devil would make a statement it would be: “for not killing Jews, ISIS I hated”.

Air Strike at Yemeni Refugee Camp Kills 45

An air strike at a camp for displaced people and refugees in Houthi-controlled northern Yemen on Monday killed 45 people and wounded 65, the International Organization for Migration said.

The strike hit the vicinity of the Mazraq refugee camp in northern Yemen, spokesman Joel Millman said, citing IOM staff at the scene. He said it was not immediately clear how many of the casualties were civilians or armed personnel.

A Saudi-led coalition was bombing Yemen for a fifth day on Monday to try to weaken the Iranian-allied Houthi militia and allied military units.

The air attacks have also targeted their southward advance on the port city of Aden, the last bastion of the Saudi-backed president, Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

Another humanitarian official said earlier that the strike had hit a truck full of Houthi militiamen at the gate to the camp, killing nine residents, two camp guards and an unknown number of fighters.

The Houthi-controlled Defence Ministry had said on its website that 40 people, including women and children, had been killed and another 250 people had been wounded.

Saudi officials were not immediately available for comment.

Mazraq, in the province of Hajja next to the Saudi border, is a cluster of camps home to thousands of Yemenis displaced by over a decade of wars between the Houthis and the Yemeni state, as well as East African migrants.

A tornado ripped through parts of Oklahoma, destroying homes and leaving at least one person dead. But amid the destruction, one image is being shared across social media that is bringing hope in the affected community.

A high schooler, named Chase Rhodes, in Moore, Oklahoma took a picture of power pole Wednesday that was left hanging in the form of a cross surrounded by destruction. He captioned the tweet “God is with us,” and it has been retweeted and shared thousands of times.

President Barack Obama marked the Persian New year, ‘Nowruz’ with a special video message to Iranians. The First Lady Michelle Obama hosted a celebration of the Persian new year, at the White House. Even Google celebrated the Iranian New Year Navroz with a colorful doodle on its homepage.

I agree with the author of this article who wrote, “there is absolutely nothing wrong with honoring the many events celebrated within this magnificent e pluribus unum melting pot of ours. The problem is that this is not about honoring a group of people who make up less than 1% of our population.”

The question I want to ask as an African – as an Ethiopian – is, why haven’t the “African-American” President Obama, First Lady Michelle or Google never ever honored on the 11^th of September the one truly African traditional New Year’s celebration – the Ethiopian New Year? Why don’t they extend their best wishes to the great ancient and honorable people of Ethiopia? Not that it matters, but, being curious, do Ethiopians have to abandon their Judaeo-Christian identity, or constantly demonize Americans (the great Satan) like the Iranians nicknamed them, do they have to terrorize Westerners, infiltrate their institutions, bomb their embassies, take hostages or force them out of the country to earn their attention and respect? Do bulling and terror sell?

‘Black’ Africa Ain’t a Priority

Recently, CNN military analyst, Maj. Gen. James “Spider” Marks revealed a controversial perspective on why the Boko Haram atrocities are ignored

According to him, the United States has the capability to root out Boko Haram but it’s not a priority. He also stated that Black West Africa is not a priority. He goes on to state that if Boko Haram were in some other region of the world perhaps in “White Africa” (North Africa) or in the Middle East, it would cause more alarm.

“Very stark, very hard to say, but that’s the case right now,” he said.

In the Ethiopian case – with the report on the Renaissance Dam – the French don’t hide their intention to undermine the development of the Ethiopian nation — which never showed enmity towards France and its people. In this cynical report the French attempt to paint too much negativity around the dam construction project – simply primitive anti-Ethiopian propaganda – an ugly disinformation campaign on behalf of Egypt.

Barbaric Islamic State militants have dealt yet another blow to Christian history in Iraq by using explosives to destroy the 4th Century Mar Benham monastery.

The ancient building, built by Assyrian king Senchareb 1,600 years ago, stood in the Christian-dominated town of Bakhdida, just 20 miles south east of oil rich ISIS stronghold Mosul.

Locals took to social media to share images of the massive blast, which reduced the ancient monastery to little more than vast piles of rubble.

The attack was later confirmed by Kurdish journalists familiar with developments in the city.

እግዚአብሔር ጨለማውን አስቀድሞ ብርሃንን በስተኋላ የፈጠረው ጨለማ የዚህች ዓለማችን፡ ብርሃን የወዲያኛው ዓለም ምሳሌ ስለሆነ ነው። ይህቺ ዓለም በጨለማ መመሰሏም ሕሊናን የሚያደነዝዝ፡ ልቡናን የሚያናውዝ ኃጢአት ይሠራባታል። የዲያብሎስ ፈቃድ ይፈጸምባታልና ነው። ባሁን ጊዜ በዚህች የጨለማዋ ዓለም የዲያብሎስ ልጆች በእግዚአብሔር አምላክ፡ በክርስቶስ ልጆች ላይ እየፈጸሙት ያለው ጭካኔ የተሞላበት በደል ወደ ገሐነም እሳት የሚያስጥላቸው ነው። ህፃናቱን፣ አረጋውያንን፣ ሴቶችን ያርዳሉ፣ ቅዱሳን ቦታዎችን ያረክሳሉ፣ የእግዚአብሔርን ውብ ፍጥረታት ሁሉ ይዋጋሉ።

ዲያብሎስ ከቅዱሳን፣ ከቅዱሳት ቦታዎች አይርቅምና በቅድስቲቷ አገራችንም ገሩ ሕዝባችንን ለዘመናት ሲፈታተን ቆይቷል፡ አሁንም የተለቀቀበት ዘመን ነውና ከሁሉም አቅጣጫ ወገናችንን በመወጋታ ላይ ይገኛል። በዚህች ባጭሩዋ የነጻነት ጊዜው ዲያብሎስ ብዙ ግዳይን ለመጣል በብርቱ ይራወጣል። የዲያብሎስ ጦርነት የተከፈተበት ሕዘብ ክርስቲያኑ ነው። መንፈሣዊውን የእለት እንጀራችንን እንዳናገኝ በረቂቅ ጥበቡ ያዘናጋናል፣ በአካልም የምንመገበውን ምግባችንን ሊበክልብንና ሊነጥቀን፣ የፈጣሪያችን እስትንፋስ የሚገለጥባቸውንም አዕጽዋታት ሁሉ ሊያወድምብን ይታገላል።

በአገራችን፡ ብዙ የሚያነቃቁና የሚያስደንቁ እድገቶች በብዙ መስኮች በመታየት ላይ ቢሆንም፡ ምግቦቻችን በተመለከተ እንደ ሞንሳንቶ ያሉ የሣጥናኤል ድርጅቶች፣ በቱርክ እና አረብ ኩባንያዎች ሥር አንድባንድ እንዲወድቁ መደረጉ ትልቅ ስህተት ነው። ይህ ስህተት ቶሎ ሊታረም ይገባል። የስኳር እጥረት (ስኳር ቢቀርብንስ!) በነገሠባት፡ የስኳር በሽታ በብዛት እየተስፋፋ በመጣባት አዲስ አበባችን ስኳር እያሸገ የሚያከፋፍለው፡ ኢትዮጵያዊ ድርጅት ሳይሆን ቱርካዊ ድርጅት ነው። መንቀሳቀስ የሚችለው የዋናዋ ከተማችን ዜጋ ላይ ላዩን “2+1” “4-wheel….” ቅብርጥሴ በማለት አላፊ በሆኑ የኃብት ማካበቻ ቁጥሮች ሲዘናጋ፣ ከታች እባቦቹ የሳዑዲ ባቢሎን ወኪሎች የከብቱን፣ ጤፉን፣ ዱቄቱን፣ ወተቱን፣ የፍራፍሬ ጭማቂውን ምናልባትም ለወደፊት የውሃ ኃብታችንን በመቆጣጠር የምንመገበውን ምግብ በእጃቸው በማስገባት ላይ ናቸው። ይህም፡ በንግዱ ዓለም ለዘመናት ሲዘጋጁበት የነበረ፤ ለረጅም ጊዜ ያቀዱት አላማቸው እንደሆነ አሁን የተረዳነው ይመስለኛል። በሳዑዲ መርዝ ያልተመረዘው ጨዋው የኢትዮጵያ ሙስሊም ሁለት አማራጭ ይኖረዋል፡ 1ኛ. ከአረብ አምልኮት ተላቅቆ በክርስቶስ ስም እራሱን ከዲያብሎስ ወጥመድ ነጻ መውጣት፡ ወይንም፡ 2ኛ. ታማኝነቱን ጡት ላጠባችው አገሩ ሳይሆን፤ ለሳዑዲና ለቱርክ በማድረግ እናቱን መንከስ፣ የመርዝ ጂሃድ፣ የ ‘ፍቅር‘ ጂሃድ፣ የደን ቃጠሎ ጂሃዱን ማጣጧፍ ይሆናል። ይህ በቅርቡ ለሁሉም ግልጽ ሆኖ መታየቱ አይቀርምና የእግዚአብሔር ልጆች ሁልጊዜ ነቅተው በተጠንቀቅ መቆም ይኖርባቸዋል።

ምስሎቹ ላይ የሚታዩት የባሕር ዛፋችን ፍሬዎች የኦርቶዶክስ መስቀል ቅርጽ ይዘው እንደሚያድጉ ዘንድሮ ነበር ለመጀመሪያ ጊዜ የታዘብኩት። ይህ የሚያስደንቅ ነገር አይደለምን?! በጣም እንጂ! ታዲያ፡ ክቡር መስቀሉ ያረፈባቸውን እነዚህን ዛፎች ያላግባብ መቁረጥ፣ ወደ አረብ አገር መላክ ትልቅ ወንጀል ነው። በዚህ ጤንንት ለጋሽ ድንቅ ዛፍ ደን የተከበቡትን ቅዱሳት ገዳማት እየቆሰቆሱ በእሳት ቃጠሎ፡ መተናኮልም፣ ነፍስን ለዘላለማዊው የእሳት ቃጠሎ አሳልፎ እንደመስጠት ያህል ነው።

መጪዎቹ ቀናት ብዙ ነገሮችን ግልጥልጥ አድርገው ያሳዩናል፤ ተዘጋጁ እንዘጋጅ!

When a solar eclipse occurs on the spring equinox (the very day when “light overtakes darkness” and the hours of daylight grow longer than the hours of darkness) over the North Pole (a location known for being the throne of false gods) should we make note of the heavenly symbolism?

Especially at this point in time, YES! The Bible tells us that the generation that sees Israel re-created as a nation will see all other end times prophecy come to pass. Even if you ignore all the other specific clues we have been given, even if you ignore all the signs we are supposed to watch for, this one concept alone lets us know the end times are due very soon, as a generation is about 70 years. Israel was reborn when it declared independence in 1948 and fought its war of independence until 1949. Regardless of your opinion of Israeli politics, the mere existence of Israel for over 66 years means that (if you believe the Bible) EVERYTHING IN PROPHECY is coming soon – and the Antichrist must take center stage three and a half years before the final reckoning on Judgment Day.

So I believe it is time to pay close attention to rare signs in the heavens, like the March 20 eclipse over the North Pole. My Ryrie Study Bible comments on a reference to “the north” in Jeremiah 50:3 “…out of the north. In Jewish thought, the origin of anything sinister.”

Revelation 2:13 says “I know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is”

Revelation 16:10-12 says “Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became darkened”

Isaiah 14:12-14 “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the NORTH: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.”

The following excerpt from the book: Antichrist 2016-2019 discusses related points:

“Satan attempts to have a throne in the extreme north of the sky, where all the other stars in the heavens appear to rotate around the North Pole Star. This is where the L-shaped constellation Draco the Dragon represents Satan, until there is a pole shift and he falls to earth. Draco’s “L” shape is the basis of the “twisted serpent” of Isaiah 27:1 and even the Hebrew letter “L” (lamed) and the Arabic letter “L” (laam) and the Arabs’ “Allah.” This is where the Maya and other ancient cultures place their false god “about to fall from his throne in the polar center.

Even American Christians have a “false god” at the North Pole. He rides a sky chariot like Apollo, and the eight animals attached to his chariot are like the eight planets of the sun god. He steals most of the attention from Jesus on a holiday when Christians should be contemplating their savior’s willingness to be born as a human to bring us the message of salvation, and instead we focus on material things like presents. This North Pole deity “knows when we’re naughty or nice” and as children we sometimes fear his judgment in late December when he leaves his North Pole throne. The false god is celebrated with a tree (axis) with a bright (pole) star at the top. He comes down the chimney through the fire if necessary, and won’t enter through the door of your house – which is especially interesting in light of John 10:9 when Jesus says “I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved.” And of course the name, Santa, is practically spelled the same as Satan. These are not coincidences; the Santa story has a dark side related to Satan and a pole shift.”

So what, you may ask? So what if the North Pole is associated with all sorts of false subsitutes for God – from the Mayan false god (Seven Macaw) – to the savior-like son sent to Earth by a guy in a black suit with a serpent in a pentagram emblem (Jor-El, father of Superman) – to Satan – to Santa Claus – all different types of substitutes for Jesus Christ – so what if there is an eclipse over their North Pole throne? Prophetically, why should that mean anything?

The Bible tells us from the very beginning (Genesis 1:14) to watch the sky for signs. As William Frederick wrote in a different article posted here: “This 20th of March, a 15 MILLION year event is going to happen. There will be a total solar eclipse visible from the North Pole just as the sun is rising…That an eclipse of that magnitude happens on the North Pole on that specific day is a 500,000 year event. That said day corresponds with the religious new year is a 15 MILLION year event (multiplying the former quantity for the 30 days of Nisan in the Hebrew calendar).”

Also keep in mind this SOLAR eclipse comes in the middle of four LUNAR eclipses that fall exactly on the Jewish holidays of Passover and Sukkot in 2014 and 2015. Mark Biltz, John Hagee, and others have written books about the FOUR BLOOD MOONS and the symbolic meaning of these eclipses and their rare lineups with Jewish holidays. Major events have occurred within a year of the last three sets of holiday blood moon eclipses, and I expect another historical and prophecy-fulfilling event within a year of the current set of blood moon eclipses.

The World – In 1492 the Jews were expelled from Spain, the Spanish officially discovered the Americas, and the Jews spread out to live in many new countries. This worldwide diaspora included the United States, where eventually there were more Jews than in Israel. Within one year of these historical events there was a holiday tetrad of blood moons in 1493 and 1494.

The Nation of Israel – Israel was re-established as a nation in 1948, and within a year of this independence there was a blood moon tetrad on the Passovers and Sukkots of 1949 and 1950.

The City of Jerusalem – Israelis reunited all of Jerusalem under Jewish rule after recapturing East Jerusalem and the Temple Mount in 1967. Within a year, there was a similar tetrad in 1967 and 1968.

The Temple – Some Israelis have wanted to build a new Jewish Temple on the Temple Mount ever since 1967. With Hamas rockets being fired from Gaza into Jerusalem as I write this, the possibility exists that one could destroy the Dome of the Rock Mosque. If it is destroyed, whether by war or a fanatic or any other cause, such destruction would remove the main obstacle to Jewish claims over the entire Temple Mount. Or perhaps the lost Ark of the Covenant is discovered, prompting the establishment of a Temple to properly house it. My research points to the reestablishment of some form of Third Temple in Jerusalem no later than June 6, 2016. This would be within a year of the tetrads of holiday blood moons in 2014 and 2015 and seems to fit the increasingly focused geographical fulfillment of prophetic events near blood moon tetrads.”

I strongly suspect that the eclipses this year are significant end times signs.

Islam and Christianity not Comparable

Lampooning Christianity brings money and renown, criticizing Islam gets you 1000 lashes.

“Christians Have Waged Their Own Holy Wars” was yet another annoying headline, this one in the Miami Herald. It seems that every time someone is beheaded, shot (by children, no less), or burned alive by ISIL, there is this inevitable handwringing over the violent history of — Christianity.

Confused? So am I. Precisely what the Crusades or the Inquisition have to do with events in the Middle East is not clear. One suspects that attacking Christianity fits neatly into a domestic agenda. Yes, Christianity is not only Islam’s chief global rival, it is a barrier to the American Cultural Left’s social vision (think abortion and gay marriage). Whatever the motivation, this ignores a serious (and growing) foreign threat.

For their part, Christians, in spite of their supposedly violent natures, have accepted all of this rather passively. Indeed, to be a Christian apologist these days seems to involve a lot of apologizing for being a Christian at all. This alone should be sufficient evidence of Christianity’s peaceful nature. I mean, I don’t hear many Muslims apologizing for the Muslim invasion of Europe (which preceded the Crusades by almost 400 years), for the recent scandal of some 1,400 children systematically raped by Muslim men in Rotherham, England, or for the oppression of women and religious minorities in Islamic states.

Charlie Hebdo is illustrative of my point.

That the magazine lampooned Muhammad we all know. What is little known is that between 2005 and 2015, the magazine devoted 38 covers to obscene and offensive depictions of religion or religious figures. Of those, 21 were aimed at Christianity while only seven targeted Islam. Yet those seven covers netted two terrorist attacks and 16 people dead. Were Christians truly as violent as Muslims, there would have been no less than six Christian attacks on Charlie Hebdo.

There have been none.

There are many other examples of the very different responses Christians and Muslims have had to unflattering depictions of their religion: Martin Scorsese (director of “The Last Temptation of Christ”) is still alive while Theo Van Gogh (director of “Submission”) is dead, shot eight times in the street and a butcher knife left in his chest. Richard Dawkins has made a fortune attacking Christianity and lives handsomely in Oxford while Raif Badawi, the Saudi blogger who was publicly lashed 50 times for his criticisms of Islam, is in jail awaiting 950 more lashes. And Salman Rushdie lives under the perpetual threat of assassination while Rushdie’s friend and fellow writer Christopher Hitchens enjoyed celebrity status among the Christians he denigrated.

The point isn’t that most Muslims are terrorists or would-be terrorists; rather, the point is that many terrorists are Muslim. Some will object that a relatively small percentage of Muslims commit atrocities, but that is beside the point. There are relatively few Ultimate Fighters — but they have a lot of fans. Last week, BBC announced triumphantly the results of a new poll saying, “an overwhelming majority of British Muslims oppose the use of violence against people publishing images of the Prophet Muhammad.”

This sounded reassuring. Promising even. The results? Twenty-seven percent of British Muslims were “sympathetic” with the Charlie Hebdo shootings. That’s one in four? “Overwhelming” was the right word. Overwhelmingly alarming. Can you imagine a similar figure for evangelicals and abortion clinic bombings? Neither can I. As you can see, Muslim extremists have a substantial fan base.

At this moment I am in the small, quiet French town of Labastide-Rouairoux. Recently, the tranquility of this village was disturbed by the discovery that one of its sons, Quentin Le Brun, had joined ISIL. No less than 3,000 other Europeans have done likewise. “Jihadi John,” who was raised in London, is the most notorious of these. Now what, exactly, is the modern Christian equivalent of this phenomenon? The forty-something members of the Westboro “Baptist” Church?

Of course, there is no equivalent. The religions are not equivalent. Islam is a religion that is defined by law. Nowhere in the Quran does it call for Muslims to be at peace with non-Muslims. Christianity, by contrast, is a religion defined by grace. Its founder, Jesus Christ, modeled it and predicted that some would kill in the name of God. But he added: “They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me.” (John 16:2-3)

The latest photos show the militants vandalising churches in Nineveh, the ancient capital of the Assyrian empire.

Pictured in civilian clothing, the ISIS thugs are seen overturning statues, destroying religious icons and replacing Christian crosses with the chilling ISIS banner.

ISIS claim ancient relics promote idolatry that violates their fundamentalist interpretation of Islamic law.

MEMRI director Steven Stalinsky said: ‘They don’t care what it’s called; they are just following their ideology and that means getting rid of churches and minorities. It is the Islamic State, and there’s no room for anyone else.

‘This has been going on for some time, a systematic campaign to rid the region of any vestiges of Christianity.’

In February, the terrorist organisation decapitated 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians on the shores of Libya and then kidnapped more than 220 Assyrian Christians when militants swept into about 12 villages.

Thousands of other Iraqi Christians have fled their homes in fear and are having to find temporary accommodation in the surrounding region.

Archbishop Silvano Tomasi, the Vatican’s top diplomat at the UN in Geneva, said yesterday the jihadists were committing ‘genocide’ and must be stopped.

The Vatican traditionally opposes military intervention in the region.
