Could This 11-Year-old Soccer Player Be The Next Leo Messi?

Posted by addisethiopia / አዲስ ኢትዮጵያ on December 31, 2012

His name is Cassiano Bouzon Jesus, he’s from Brazil, and he has already been Signed by FC Barcelona, as Messi had been when he was 13 years old

It is known that Spanish giants pick up the best talents across the planet and nurture them in their club academy La Masia. This time the scouting mission went online as FC Barcelona found a video of a 11 year old boy from Brazil, Cassiano Bouzon, showing off his skills.

Impressed with the youngster, Barҫa offered a 20 day trial at their feeder club Cornella. And rumours suggest that the boy will be a future Barcelona youth player.

“I play with the ball glued to my feet. I dribble a lot. I’m fast,” Bouzon told reporters as he touched down in Brazil after impressing Barcelona.

Buried Christian Empire Casts New Light on Early Islam

Posted by addisethiopia / አዲስ ኢትዮጵያ on December 29, 2012

EthiopianKingMy note: Actually, there is nothing new in this “discovery”; Ethiopians wrote about the presence of Christians in the Arabian peninsula thousand years ago. Besides, the writer of this report spewed once more the usual age-old Western bias against the glorious Ethiopians. First, he called the great King of Ethiopia, Negus Kaleb, “a Puppet King”, and then he went on to speculate that the first naval maneuver of King Caleb was a miserable failure, and “only” with the “help” of the Byzantines was King Caleb able to successfully capture Arabia. For further comparative details please check my previous post here out. Unlike today’s coward generation of Kings and Queens or leaders, the brave-hearted previous rulers were always ready to demonstrate their Christian Brotherhood and solidarity towards persecuted Christians, and to eventually punish the evil perpetrators mercilessly . In fact, it was European monarchs who always needed the support of those powerful Ethiopian kings in their time of trouble. After King Caleb, (also called Ellä-Asbeha) it was Prester John who European powers were questing for, 600 year later, from the 12th century onwards. Another time will soon come when Europeans might need the help of the next “Prester John” from the Holy mountains of Ethiopia, as their societies are more and more challenged by the scourge of Atheism and Islamism

Archeologists are studying the ruins of a buried Christian empire in the highlands of Yemen. The sites have sparked a number of questions about the early history of Islam. Was there once a church in Mecca?

Paul Yule, an archeologist from the southwestern German city of Heidelberg, has studied the relief, which is 1.70 meters (5’7″) tall, in Zafar, some 930 kilometers (581 miles) south of Mecca. It depicts a man with chains of jewelry, curls and spherical eyes. Yule dates the image to the time around 530 AD.

The German archeologist excavated sites in the rocky highlands of Yemen, an occupation that turned quite dangerous recently because of political circumstances in the country. On his last mission, Yule lost 8 kilograms (18 lbs.) and his equipment was confiscated.

Nevertheless, he is pleased, because he was able to bring notes, bits of debris and bones back to Heidelberg. Yule has concluded that Zafar was the center of an Arab tribal confederation, a realm that was two million square kilometers (about 772,000 square miles) large and exerted its influence all the way to Mecca.

Even more astonishing is his conclusion that kings who invoked the Bible lived in the highland settlement. The “crowned man” depicted on the relief was also a Christian.

Conquerers from Ancient Ethiopia

Yule has analyzed the mysterious, robed figure in a report for the academic journal Antiquity. He is AxumsArabiabarefoot, which is typical of Coptic saints. He is holding a bundle of twigs, a symbol of peace, in his left hand. There is a crossbar on his staff, giving it the appearance of a cross. In addition, he is wearing a crown on his head like the ones worn by the Christian rulers of ancient Ethiopia.

All of this suggests that the man with a strange, round face is a descendant of the conquerors from Africa who succeeded in making one of the boldest landing operations in ancient times.

In 525 AD, the Negus, or king, of Aksum dispatched a fleet across the Red Sea. Soldiers and fighting elephants were ferried across the water to the East on un-tarred, raft-like ships to spread the gospel. In the ensuing decades, his army captured large parts of Arabia.

The first spearhead was targeted at the capital Zafar. Like a fortress in the sky, the town was perched on an extinct volcano, at an altitude of 2,800 meters (9,184 feet) above sea level. Its walls, riddled with towers and alarm bells, were four-and-a-half kilometers long. About 25,000 people lived in Zafar.

According to Yule, between the 3rd and the 5th century the confederation managed to complete a “meteoric rise” and become a superpower. Its merchants traded in sandalwood from Ceylon and valerian from Persia. The state controlled the port of Aden, where the ships of spice traders from India docked. Frankincense, which was made in Arabia, was also traded. It was a place of luxury. Yule found wine amphorae, the remains of precious fish condiments and palaces decorated with sphinxes and lions.

What Do Frankincense, Christians and Bees Have In Common?

Posted by addisethiopia / አዲስ ኢትዮጵያ on December 23, 2012

My answer: They are all precious, and they are disappearing in some parts of the world. Frankincense is destroyed by greedy money worshipers, Christians are exterminated by diabolic extremist Muslims, and technology, Cellphones, in particular, could be killing Bees all over the world. These phenomenons should be of great concern to the whole world, as Frankincense, Christians and Bees are an indicator species and their disappearance could signal greater environmental and spiritual problems

What will save the frankincense tree?

BosTreeEthiopiaThey are the most famous Christmas presents in history, and roll off the tongue as easily as the alphabet: gold, frankincense and myrrh. Every child still learns all about gold from a young age, but how many adults could tell you about those other holy stocking-fillers?

Both are aromatic resins, made from tree sap. When Jesus was born, they cost roughly the same as gold. Now they are hundreds of times cheaper than the precious metal, and are still grown in reasonable quantities around the Middle East.

That might be changing, however. Myrrh, made from the Commiphora tree, is relatively stable, but frankincense is in the grip of a serious crisis. Over-exploitation, changing land use and a destructive beetle are killing its source tree, Boswellia sacra. Some scientists estimate that without intervention the species could be all but eradicated within 50 years, severing a living botanical connection to the past that is rich in religious and economic history.

Recently, however, several factors have come together to pose a serious threat to Boswellia. Research led by Dutch scientist Professor Frans Bongers of Wageningen University in Holland, published last year, showed that commercial Boswellia was in danger of extinction. He says that the situation is only getting worse. Trees across Ethiopia, where most commercial frankincense originates, are dying at an alarming rate.

What is more, farmers are turning to more profitable crops such as sesame and cotton, and clearing their Boswellia forests. “Demand is falling, but the price is still rising,” says Prof Bongers. “The farmers are having to use a greater land area for the same yield.” Frankincense is a tiny crop by world standards, with Ethiopia exporting around 5,000 tons per year: mostly to China for use in medicines and perfumes. The entire Catholic Church uses just 50 tons a year.

Frankincense and myrrh are among the oldest internationally traded commercial tree products. Ethiopia is worldwide the main producer of frankincense and myrrh

Christianity ‘close to extinction’ in Middle East

Christianity faces being wiped out of the “biblical heartlands” in the Middle East because of mounting persecution of worshippers, according to a new report.

The study warns that Christians suffer greater hostility across the world than any other religious group.

And it claims politicians have been “blind” to the extent of violence faced by Christians in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

The most common threat to Christians abroad is militant Islam, it says, claiming that oppression in Muslim countries is often ignored because of a fear that criticism will be seen as “racism”.

It warns that converts from Islam face being killed in Saudi Arabia, Mauritania and Iran and risk severe legal penalties in other countries across the Middle East.

“A far less widely grasped fact is that Christians are targeted more than any other body of believers.”

It cites estimates that 200 million Christians, or 10 per cent of Christians worldwide, are “socially disadvantaged, harassed or actively oppressed for their beliefs.”

Important footnotes:

They came for the Jews, and no one spoke up. Now they are coming for the Christians, and who is speaking up? When will they come for the atheists? the secular humanists? and each of the other religions in the world? If you don’t speak up now, who will speak up for you?

Please speak up now and sign a White House Petition to protect Christians in the Middle East

The website Orthodox Christian Laity has posted an appeal to Orthodox Christians in the U.S. to sign a petition to protect Christians in the Middle East.

Unbelievable: African Caged in Monkey House

Posted by addisethiopia / አዲስ ኢትዮጵያ on December 19, 2012

My note: Ignorant Darwinists á la Richard Dawkins (update on this particular fool) suggested that this poor man from Africa was the Missing Link’ between apens and humans. These fools were wrong then and continue to be wrong today — little has change since then. It is a source of disgrace and embarrassment that they always miss opportunities for their personal/human development by refusing to accept their mistakes — as they’re mostly driven by feelings of inferiority. Never learning apes, please grow up!

Ethiopia Saluting the Colors

by Walt Whitman (1819-1892)

Who are you dusky woman, so ancient hardly human,’

With your woolly-white and turban’d head, and bare bony feet?NearDebreBerihan

Why rising by the roadside here, do you the colors greet?

(‘Tis while our army lines Carolina’s sands and pines,

Forth from thy hovel door thou Ethiopia comist to me,

As under doughty Sherman I march toward the sea.)

Me master years a hundred since from my parents sunder’d,

A little child, they caught me as the savage beast is caught,

Then hither me across the sea the cruel slaver brought.

No further does she say, but lingering all the day,

Her high-borne turban’d head she wags, and rolls her darkling eye,

And courtesies to the regiments, the guidons moving by.

What is it fateful woman, so blear, hardly human?

Why wag your head with turban bound, yellow, red and green?

Are the things so strange and marvelous you see or have seen?

OtaBenga1904In 1906 Ota Benga arrived at the Bronx Zoo one day late in the summer of 1906 wearing a white linen suit. He was lugging a wooden bow, a set of arrows, and a pet chimpanzee. Twenty-three years old and twice widowed, he had already hunted elephants, survived a massacre by the Belgian colonial army, been enslaved and freed, danced at Mardi Gras, and posed alongside Geronimo in the St. Louis World’s Fair. And yet Americans were forever calling him “boy”—in part because, as one of the Congolese tribe of Mbuti pygmies, he stood less than five feet tall and weighed only 103 pounds. He spoke no English. When he smiled, he revealed a set of incisors whittled to sharp points, like a vampire bat’s.

Benga had traveled to the U.S. with the anthropologist Samuel Phillips Verner, but upon arriving in New York, Verner had gone dead broke. He contacted the zoo’s director, William Temple Hornaday, who agreed to loan Benga an apartment on the premises. Hornaday was an enlightened zookeeper and among the earliest to endorse displaying animals in naturalistic settings. He also happened to be a Darwinian racist who schemed to exhibit Benga alongside the apes.

For nearly two weeks, Benga roamed the grounds unnoticed; to the zoo’s visitors, he was just a small, somewhat strange black man. But over time, at the urging of Hornaday, the zookeepers convinced Benga to play with the orangutan in its cage. Benga obliged. Crowds gathered to watch the two monkeying around. The keepers gave Benga his bow and arrow; he shot targets, squirrels, the occasional rat. Bones were scattered about the cage to add a whiff of cannibalism. The keepers goaded Benga to occasionally charge the bars of his enclosure, baring his sharp teeth. Children screamed. Adults were at turns horrified and titillated. “Is that a man?” a visitor asked. A circus owner offered to throw a party for Benga, a French spinster offered to purchase him, and a black manicurist offered to paint his nails. Hornaday posted a sign outside of the cage, displaying Benga’s height, weight, and how he was acquired. “Exhibited each afternoon during September,” it concluded.

Alerted to the situation by a story in the New York Times, a group of Baptist clergymen became incensed. They wrote letters to the city papers and traveled to the office of Mayor George B. McClellan, who hid in his office and sent out a note telling them to address their complaints to the New York Zoological Society.

Hornaday took down the sign and banned Benga from entering the monkey cage, but the furor only escalated. The zoo attracted as many as 40,000 visitors a day in mid-September, many of whom hounded Benga throughout the grounds. Unable to articulate his frustration, Benga repeatedly lashed out, shooting one visitor in the calf with an arrow and brandishing a knife at a zookeeper. In public, Hornaday seemed unconcerned by the controversy. In a letter to the mayor, he wrote, “When the history of the Zoological Park is written, this incident will form its most amusing passage.” Meanwhile, he privately wired Verner an SOS. “Boy [has] become unmanageable, also dangerous … Please come for him at once.”

Ode to Ethiopia

by Paul Laurence Dunbar

O Mother Race! to thee I bringDebreBerihan

This pledge of faith unwavering,

This tribute to thy glory.

I know the pangs which thou didst feel,

When Slavery crushed thee with its heel,

With thy dear blood all gory.

Sad days were those-ah, sad indeed!

But through the land the fruitful seed

Of better times was growing.

The plant of freedom upward sprung,

And spread its leaves so fresh and young-

Its blossoms now are blowing.

On every hand in this fair land,

Proud Ethiope’s swarthy children stand

Beside their fairer neighbor;

The forests flee before their stroke,

Their hammers ring, their forges smoke,-

They stir in honest labour.

They tread the fields where honour calls;

Their voices sound through senate halls

In majesty and power.

To right they cling; the hymns they sing

Up to the skies in beauty ring,

And bolder grow each hour.

Be proud, my Race, in mind and soul;EthioOrthodoxChurch

Thy name is writ on Glory’s scroll

In characters of fire.

High ‘mid the clouds of Fame’s bright sky

Thy banner’s blazoned folds now fly,

And truth shall lift them higher.

Thou hast the right to noble pride,

Whose spotless robes were purified

By blood’s severe baptism.

Upon thy brow the cross was laid,

And labour’s painful sweat-beads made

A consecrating chrism.

No other race, or white or black,

When bound as thou wert, to the rack,

So seldom stooped to grieving;

No other race, when free again,

Forgot the past and proved them men

So noble in forgiving.

Go on and up! Our souls and eyes

Shall follow thy continuous rise;

Our ears shall list thy story

From bards who from thy root shall spring,

And proudly tune their lyres to sing

Of Ethiopia’s glory.

She Was 8 When She Saw Heaven

Posted by addisethiopia / አዲስ ኢትዮጵያ on December 16, 2012

Many people have been fascinated with the drawings from child art prodigy, Akiane Kramarik , who says her inspiration has come from heavenly dreams.

AkianesJesusAkiane was only eight years old when she painted this portrait of Jesus, called Prince of Peace. Today, ChurchInHeavenshe is now seventeen, having spent her childhood having visions. and painting and dictating/writing poetry from age four. Her mother was an atheist, her father a lapsed Catholic. Akiane’s gifts seemingly started out of the blue, with no coaching or lessons. She’s a self-taught artist, home-schooled, raised in poverty, and eventually, through her paintings and visions, she helped convert her entire family to Christianity. You can view more of her work here.

Akiane was once asked what she would say to God if she could ask him just one question and he would answer, and she said she would ask him what the purpose of extreme suffering is. But, I think we all know what the answer would be, at least on some level. This world was never meant to be our permanent home.

We were created to be more than we are because God is more than this world. It is like C.S. Lewis StGeorgeChurchAddissaid – “You don’t have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body.” Sometimes, when we suffer here in this world, it is our own doing, but more often than not, it’s out of our hands. But this life is just for a little while. We are on loan to this world. That doesn’t mean that we should not help make it a better place. We definitely should – otherwise, what is the point? We could sit on our hands all day, refusing to care, refusing to help, or we can make our lives mean something. I choose meaning. I choose hope. Hope is what Akiane wants people to come away with after viewing her artwork, after reading her poetry, after reading about her childhood and her life as it is now. That is what I strive to embody with my own life as well, through my writing and also through compassion for others. We may feel completely alone sometimes, but all we have to do is reach out and grasp somebody’s hand (physically or even spiritually). We are not alone. We just have to stop acting as if we are, that’s all. She said.

A self-taught painter was never raised religiously, although her parents have become religious through her paintings. She says

she is inspired from above and paints pictures of her alleged visits to heaven. Perhaps, The Almighty called on her to be a witness.

The part of the video that caught my attention was the portrait of Jesus, and the architecture of the church in heaven – very similar to some of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo churches.

Radio Host Says God Didn’t Protect Kids in Shooting Because We’ve Told ‘God to Get Lost’

My note: Hurricane ‘Sandy’ left New York with scores of untold tragedies, and now. this heartbreaking, unspeakable tragedy at ‘Sandy’ Hook Elementary School. In ancient Greece, Sandy, short for Cassandra, is a mythological figure who epitomizes tragedy. But, the little ones are in heaven!

Evangelical radio host Bryan Fischer is under fire after comments he uttered today during his American Family Association radio program. His statements, made in reference to today’s horrific school shooting in Connecticut, raised some eyebrows, particularly among liberal groups who view them as insensitive and wrong-headed. Mediaite HYPERLINK “” has a recap:

Christian radio hostBryan Fischer took to his American Family Association radio show this afternoon to say that God didn’t stop the horrific Connecticut elementary school shooting spree because he does not go “where he is not wanted.”

Fischer made the case that, in his mind, God would have protected the shooting victims had there been a system of school prayer and a respect for the Ten Commandments in public classrooms.

Don’t let your child see a psychiatrist. Ever!

PhychoDemonThe government gives psychiatry its fake legitimacy. That’s how the game works. The government blesses the medical licensing boards that award psychiatrists permission to drug your children, alter their brains, poison them, and of course make all the fake diagnoses in the first place.

Without the government, these fakes would sink into the waves and be gone forever. Nobody in his right mind or wrong mind would ever step into a psychiatrist’s office. It would be like volunteering to stumble out on to a mine field seeded with explosives.

Self-Inflation at the Expense of Sacred Psychiatry Disorder. The preferred treatment is electroshock therapy and MKULTRA re-programming. I’m opting for a walk in the park coupled with two doses of outrage at these fake doctors who poison brains and believe they’re healers.

Media, naturally, go along with the psychiatric hoax. Thousands of articles keep coming out of the hopper to support the authoritative pronouncements of these deranged monsters with medical degrees and “training” in diagnosing mental illnesses.

There are no mental illnesses or disorders. There never have been.

There are people with problems, there are people who suffer, there are people who are in desperate circumstances, there are people who have severe nutritional deficiencies, there are people who have been poisoned by various chemicals, there are people who have been abused and ignored, there are people who have been told there is something wrong with them, there are people who are different and can’t deal with the conforming androids in their midst, but there are no mental disorders.

It’s fiction. It’s a billion-dollar fiction. It’s a gigantic steaming pile of bullshit. Always has been.

There is not a single diagnostic test for any so-called mental disorder. Never has been. No blood test, no urine test, no saliva test, no brain scan, no genetic test. No science.

So why hasn’t psychiatry been destroyed and outlawed? Because there is money in it. Big money. Pharmaceutical money. And because the public is in a trance. Mothers and fathers are quite willing to take their children to these brain poisoners…lambs to the slaughter.

The silence of the lambs

People are entranced by so-called professionals with fancy degrees who speak technical babble. It all seems real. Because if it weren’t real, then…what? People would be forced to admit they are living in a fantasy. And people don’t want to admit that. They would rather die than admit that.

Lalibela Among The World’s 9 best places to spend Christmas

Posted by addisethiopia / አዲስ ኢትዮጵያ on December 12, 2012

CNN has picked nine of the most Christmassy places around the world.

Lalibela, Ethiopia

LalibelaMagicLalibela was conceived as a paradise on earth. And its 11 churches, cut from living volcanic rock, are literally anchored in the earth. In scale, number, and variety of form there’s no architecture or sculpture quite like them anywhere. They’re on the global tourist route now, though barely. To Ethiopian devotees they’ve been spiritual lodestars for eight centuries, and continue to be.

Declared a “new Jerusalem” after the real Jerusalem was captured by Muslim forces in 1187 and Ethiopian Christians could no longer go there, Lalibela remains a very religious place.

Ethiopian Christmas (January 7) mass at Bet Medhane Alem – the largest monolithic church in the world – is an occasion on which hundreds of priests in white turbans, adorned with red sashes and gold scarves chant, sway, and pray, surrounded by trenches flooded with some 50,000 worshipers, for whom this is a sacred place of pilgrimage.

The other 8 destinations are:

  • Lapland, Finland

  • Strasbourg, France

  • Quebec, Canada

  • San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

  • Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, New York

  • Barcelona, Spain

  • Manila, Philippines

  • Queenstown, New Zealand

US Sending 20 More F-16s to Egypt, Despite Turmoil in Cairo

Posted by addisethiopia / አዲስ ኢትዮጵያ on December 12, 2012

Will they use them against the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam on the River Nile?

Instability in Egypt, where a newly-elected Islamic government teeters over an angry population, isn’t enough to stop the U.S. from sending more than 20 F-16 fighter jets, as part of a $1 billion foreign aid package.

The first four jets are to be delivered to Egypt beginning Jan. 22, a source at the naval air base in Fort Worth, where the planes have been undergoing testing, told The North African nation already has a fleet of more than 200 of the planes and the latest shipment merely fulfills an order placed two years ago. But given the uncertainty in Cairo, some critics wonder if it is wise to be sending more top gun planes.

The U.S. government ordered and paid for the fighter jets for Egypt’s military as part of foreign aid for Egypt back in 2010, when Hosni Mubarak ruled. The fighter jets were supposed to be delivered in 2013, and delivery will go ahead as scheduled even though Hosni Mubarak has been removed from power and replaced by Mohamed Morsi, who led the Muslim Brotherhood before becoming Egypt’s president.
